Sunita Sharma is the HOD of the Science Department at Swami Shri Swaroopanand. She is M.Sc. (Gold Medalist) in Zoology and is pursuing PhD. She holds a total of 20 years of work experience. She has published a book titled Unified Zoology and Navbodh Prakashan Practical. She has received the Teacher Idol Award and Founder Member Award at Neeraj Public School, Rajnandgaon.
What is the latest program that you are offering in your institute/dept. which will help students outperform and stand apart from the crowd?
The Department of Science is offering a new program called the Science Research Internship Program. This program will give students the opportunity to get their hands dirty in scientific research. You’ll work with faculty members on real research projects, learn how to collect and analyze data and develop your scientific writing skills. The program is open to all students, no matter your experience level.
What are the factors that make this program the best for the students to opt?
A student who participates in the research internship program could write about their experience in a research paper or presentation. This would show potential employers that they have the skills and experience to conduct independent research. A student who participates in the science field studies program could write about their experiences in a blog or travelogue. This would show potential employers that they are interested in science and have a passion for the field. A student who participates in the science seminar series could attend a talk by a leading researcher in their field. This would give them the opportunity to learn about cutting-edge research and network with other students and professionals.
A student who participates in the science club could volunteer at a local science museum or research lab. This would give them hands-on experience working in a scientific setting and would make them more attractive to potential employers.

How did you train yourself/faculty to deliver this program to the students?
Faculty members receive on-the-job training, workshops, and individual mentoring. They are required to have a strong background in scientific research. The training ensures that students get the best possible experience. Provide clear and concise instructions and use examples and illustrations to make the instructions more understandable. We are offering opportunities for practice and feedback and encouraging faculty members to ask questions and providing them with ongoing support and guidance.

What are the types of projects that the students are working on through this program?
Investigating science fair projects is given to students. It involves using the scientific method to ask a question, establish a hypothesis, and then create an experiment to test the hypothesis. For example, posing the question: “Do plants grow better when fertilizer is used?” and hypothesizing a possible answer. Then, an experiment is developed to establish the answer.

We are working to have alliances with many reputed industries or companies for placement training and internships.
