Dr. Sindhu K S has been working as an Assistant Professor and Head of the Chemistry Department at Morning Star Home Science College Angamaly. She has an M.Sc. and a PhD from the School of Chemical Sciences, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala. She has more than eight years of experience in the teaching field and has also won the Junior Research Fellowship Award by CSIR-UGC. Apart from this, Dr. Sindhu has published 20 research papers in reputed Scopus indexed journals and presented papers at national and international conferences. She has an h-index of 15 and an i10-index of 16 and is specialised in the domain of Organic Chemistry.

Under the affiliation of Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, the Chemistry department of Morning Star College offers BSc Chemistry (Degree), BSc Chemistry (Honours), BSc Chemistry (Honours with research) and MSc Chemistry (self-financing). With an eye towards the applications of Chemistry, these courses are meant to give students both academic knowledge and useful skills. We also have an industrial Chemistry minor course that covers topics like chemical manufacturing, drug design, analytical methods, environmental management, and so on. How did you train yourself/faculty to deliver this program to the students?
Four of our faculty members are PhD holders and two are research guides. They usually engage in professional development and training to effectively teach the BSc and MSc Chemistry curricula. They also participate in workshops, conferences, and lectures on the most recent advances in Chemistry. We also collaborate with experts from chemical industries to keep up with recent developments and engage in research activities that enrich our teaching and publish high-quality articles. The college also encourages a culture of peer learning and knowledge sharing, in which faculty members talk and exchange ideas regularly to improve our teaching approaches.
How do you tend to build an industry connection with this program?
One of the main goals of our BSc and MSc Chemistry courses is to develop solid industrial ties. We are trying to work with industry associations, research labs, and chemical corporations.
