What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?
As the Head of the Management Department of the School of Commerce and Management, my leadership philosophy centres around the principles of collaborative empowerment, strategic vision, and continuous growth. I believe in fostering an environment that promotes both individual and collective excellence, where each team member is encouraged to contribute their unique strengths and insights. I am committed to nurturing a culture of open communication, respect, and innovation where everyone feels valued and motivated to achieve our shared goals.
How does the curriculum of your institute ensure the best practice of industry?
Lingaya’s Vidyapeeth established advisory boards comprising industry experts and professionals. These boards provide insights, feedback, and recommendations to ensure that the curriculum remains relevant and aligned with current industry needs. We periodically review and update their curriculum to incorporate the latest trends, technologies, and best practises within the industry. This helps ensure that students are learning the most up-to-date information. We collaborate with industry partners, businesses, and organisations to develop joint programs, projects, and internships. These partnerships provide students with practical exposure and opportunities to apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings.
Offering elective courses that focus on specific industry areas or technologies allows students to specialise in areas directly relevant to their career aspirations. Inviting industry professionals to deliver guest lectures, workshops, and seminars exposes students to real-world experiences and insights from practitioners in the field. Incorporating case studies and hands-on projects that simulate real industry scenarios helps students develop problem-solving skills and practical knowledge. Encouraging students to participate in internships or cooperative education programs provides them with valuable industry experience and a deeper understanding of workplace dynamics.
What do you think should be the Lingaya's Vidyapeeth’s top priority over the next 10 years?
With the rapid advancement of technology and changes in the job market, universities should prioritise developing adaptive and flexible education models. This includes embracing online learning, blended approaches, and innovative pedagogical methods to cater to diverse learning styles and meet the evolving needs of students. We should also concentrate on investing in research across various disciplines that can lead to breakthroughs that address global challenges and drive societal progress. The job market and industry needs are constantly evolving. Universities should focus on offering flexible and relevant curricula that equip students with both technical and soft skills, ensuring they are well-prepared for the workforce.
We should build strong ties with industries that can facilitate internships, co-op programs, and research partnerships, helping students gain practical experience and ensuring that the curriculum is aligned with real-world demands. Prioritising student and staff well-being through mental health services, counselling, and promoting a healthy lifestyle contributes to a productive and supportive learning environment, which is also on the table for us. Encouraging international collaborations, study abroad programmes, and cross-cultural experiences can provide students with a broader worldview and prepare them for a globalised job market.

What would you like people to know about Lingaya's Vidyapeeth they may not know?
We have three parameters at the university where we work for students, academicians, and researchers. We concentrate on Professional Development, Skill Development and Holistic Development. Developing all three avenues will ensure our teachers stay up to date on the trends in their field and are taught the latest teaching methods. Students get the first preference when sitting for placement interviews and are geared for success through our approach.
What do you see as the Lingaya's Vidyapeeth’s greatest strengths?
We have a strong reputation for rigorous academic programs, esteemed faculty members, and high-quality research, which can be a significant strength. The university has a robust research culture where there is space for ground-breaking discoveries to contribute to advancements in various fields, enhancing their reputation and influence. We value diversity and we promote an inclusive campus environment that enriches the learning experience and prepares students for a globalized world.
The college has a well-established international collaboration network and also offers study abroad programs for students to gain a broader perspective and enrich their education. Our dedicated and accomplished alumni community can provide valuable connections, mentorship, and support for current students and recent graduates. We have also adopted innovative teaching approaches, such as experiential learning, flipped classrooms, or technology-enhanced instruction, which can offer engaging and effective education.
What are some of the major changes that Covid-19 has bought in the education sector according to you?
During COVID, we adopted a blend of in-person and online instruction, known as hybrid or blended learning, to provide flexibility and accommodate different learning preferences. Educators and students have become more reliant on digital tools, learning management systems, video conferencing platforms, and other technology to facilitate teaching, learning, communication, and assessment. Our teachers have also adapted and changed their teaching methods for effective online delivery, focusing on designing engaging and interactive e-learning experiences.
How do you tend to establish a healthy relationship and environment in your institute/ university?
We have created a healthy relationship and environment within an institute or university that involves fostering a positive atmosphere that supports learning, growth, and well-being for all students, faculty, staff, and stakeholders. By trying to maintain transparent and open communication channels between administration, faculty, staff, and students. We encourage leadership that is approachable, responsive, and genuinely cares about the well-being of students and staff.
By creating opportunities, our students can engage in clubs, organisations, events, and extracurricular activities that foster social connections and personal growth. The faculty is instructed to engage with students through office hours, mentoring, and informal interactions to provide academic and career guidance. We also focus on establishing mechanisms for students and staff to provide feedback and suggestions so that they can continuously improve.
