She acquired her Ph.D. at SPW Women's University in the year 2013 and completed her M.Sc and B.Sc. in Nursing from SVIMS College of Nursing.

You have held key positions at various institutions throughout your career. What is something about GITAM that excited you to walk with the institution on the journey?

GITAM by not only its name but also its imbibing Gandhian values in practical and in everyday of its operations. Altruism and honesty is the rarest commodity in the present society but in GITAM leadership we can experience it. That’s the point of interest.


How do you balance the needs of faculty, students, and administration as a Head of Institute of Nursing?

For any institution to achieve quality education, we need to adhere to the norms of the regulatory body. We had a surplus of faculty with hands on skill experience to meet the patient-centered care approach in the hospital supported by state of the art facilities of the laboratories and free wifi enabled campus. Patients are the best source for clinical learning So we regulate the mandatory patient care by the students assisted by the faculty supervisors to build a confidence in students about the clinical practice. Timely review meetings with faculty and school advisory board meetings provide us insight into balancing the changing needs of the society as well training facilities for the students community.


As a Head of Institute of Nursing what is the USP or what are the differentiating factors that make GITAM stand out from other colleges?

First of all, GITAM is a Multidisciplinary and multicultural campus with diversified students and faculty. Transcultural learning takes place. We are unique in molding the students for a patient-friendly atmosphere, nurturing them with therapeutic communication skills. We provide the cafeteria approach for the young nursing professionals which facilitates them to have placements in the corporate hospitals having medical tourism with handsome pay bands. Students life chapters are the best means of supporting system to break the monotonous and support and encourage extracurricular activities. We give high priority to PTMs for any clarifications on the academia.


How do you stay current with the latest trends and developments in the field of Nursing, and incorporate them into the curriculum and programs offered by GITAM University?

Focus on evidence-based research in Nursing, weekly journal clubs, adapting to the different pedagogy, provision of world-class material by Course era course, and need-based faculty development programs. Mentor mentee system. The COVID pandemic’s most demanding care setup is “Home-based care”, it has been globally rending. Hence we are committed to training our students in both rural and urban areas and orient them for nursing care by conducting home visits regularly to promote health, prevent the disease, and cure minor disorders.

Can you throw some light on innovative teaching and learning methods adopted by the GITAM Institute of Nursing?

Project-based learning, Modular object-oriented dynamic learning Environment (MOODLE), Case-based learning to improve nursing care, and advanced learning by accessing the Courses era programs. Since we have students from different countries we do practice respect for their social life through the campus life.


Inculcating the professional code of conduct, and moral values is a key important factor for nursing graduates. How does GITAM focus on these areas?

A core value for the Nursing profession is to be morally ethical and bound to one's duty. From the time of students' admission to the awarding of the degree, we undertake the responsibilities of inculcation veracity, fidelity, beneficence, non-maleficence, and respect for the human, autonomy in all patient care settings. We do have regular practical /clinical teaching at the bedside on the issues of ethical concerns. Meticulously case-based teaching by exploring ethical decision-making skills.


What kind of support and emphasis GITAM provides in being par at the global standards, in terms of curriculum and teaching pedagogy?

Physical infrastructure in terms of digital classrooms, and skill lab, and with highly experienced faculty. Since nursing is an intertwined profession, specialized doctors and multi-professionals teach nursing students.
