Dr. Divya Sharma is an Assistant Professor in Computer Science Department at Kanoria PG Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Jaipur. She did BCA, MCA, and MBA. She has nine years of teaching experience as an Assistant Professor. She was elected as Joint Secretary of Rajasthan University Women’s Association twice for four consecutive years. She has published several research papers including one in Scopus indexed journal. She has been awarded the Best Paper Presentation Award, Academic Excellence Award, and Award for excellent work in social service. She is the author of one textbook. She is currently a member of the website committee of the college and the Rajasthan University Women’s Association. She has also participated as an advisor in the framing of the Rajasthan State Youth Policy in 2023 in the field of education.

What are your roles and responsibilities?

As an Assistant Professor, my role and responsibilities are to organize my lectures in a student-understandable way so that the students can comprehend them well. I must create and maintain a healthy environment where students can raise problems and queries in the classroom to clarify their doubts. As a mentor, my responsibility is to connect with my mentees (students) in a way that they feel free to discuss any of their problems with me, whether related to their personal life or professional life and are guided in the best possible way.


What do you see as Kanoria PG Mahila Mahavidyalaya’s greatest strengths?

Kanoria College has a lush green campus full of positive energy that provides a calm and healthy environment to students wherein they get the best from highly qualified professional faculties. The infrastructure includes smart classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, wi-fi availability, etc. to facilitate the teaching-learning process.


How do you establish healthy relations with students and fellow faculty members?

To maintain healthy relations with students, I establish a bond with them and not just a teacher-student relationship. With my fellow faculties, I try to maintain a bond of team spirit and mutual co-operation and respect which helps in creating a healthy environment.


How do you bring a practical approach towards subjects as industry-oriented?

For this, we offer skill enhancement courses, organize seminars and workshops, and organize practical hands-on training sessions related to prevailing topics in industry for students to promote and enhance their practical skills and knowledge. Also, Kanoria College has a registered incubation center: NARIKA to promote new ideas of students and to promote student development.


How do you help students cope with outside-world competition?

Our students are prepared to compete globally besides providing regular classes, by organizing events to provide them expert guidance, competition classes coaching, and several different activities to promote the overall development of a student.

What extracurricular activities enhance the skills of the students in Kanoria PG Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Jaipur?

In Kanoria PG Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, the students get a wide range of skill enhancement courses, from which they can select some, apart from their regular curriculum. This helps in brushing up their skills and knowledge. Kanoria College offers to its students, indoor and outdoor games/sports and facilities to transform their personalities and improve their physical fitness. Several clubs and associations are formed to improve a student’s involvement in activities that focus on their overall personality development, professional skills, and knowledge.


What challenges do you face to uplift the education quality of Kanoria PG Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Jaipur?

We at Kanoria are bound to follow the university curriculum and work under university guidelines. The challenge for us is to organize add-on activities, guest lectures, competitions, seminars, and other activities for students in a limited time frame available along with regular course classes so that our students get the best of all that could be offered to them from our side.


What approaches do you bring apart from the curriculum to train the students?

We at Kanoria focus not only on the curriculum but on the holistic development of a student. For this, there are many different clubs and associations which provide training and activity sessions for students. A student can register and avail benefit from the same. Specifically in the computer science department, we organize seminars, guest lectures, activities, and competitions which help in grooming a student holistically.


Would you like to share more about the Computer Science department at Kanoria College?

The computer science department of Kanoria College has three computer laboratories with excellent infrastructure, the latest technology configurations, smart classrooms and smart labs, wi-fi connectivity, internet access, and spacious, well-organized, well-managed infrastructure. Two faculties in a lab along with one lab assistant to handle and solve students’ queries. We have experienced and well-qualified faculty who are always ready to solve problems and queries of their students, be it related to education, profession, or personal issues.


Any advice you want to give for students to have a prosperous career?

I always tell my students that this is the time when they should start preparing themselves for their placements and other career opportunities by participating in more and more activities, debates, quizzes, and other cultural events in college. We at Kanoria College have several cells, clubs, and associations for improving the different skills of students. If they participate more in the activities conducted, whether inter-college or intra-college, it boosts their confidence levels and they get to know where to improve. Also, if from now onwards they are serious with their studies, they even get placement opportunities in reputed companies from Kanoria College by registering and participating in placement drives organized by Kanoria College.
