Being the Assistant Professor of Business Administration at Kanoria PG, what are your key responsibilities towards students?

It's a well-known fact that a Teacher acts as a mentor and torch bearer for his students. Hence as an Assistant Professor of Business Administration at Kanoria PG Mahila Mahavidyalaya, my key responsibilities are to provide finest quality and easily understandable knowledge to students and guide them for their career goals by identifying their abilities, passion and potential.

Also, as Maslow has correctly described the five crucial needs of a man in his Need Hierarchy Theory and has also highlighted that the highest level of need is self actualization. Therefore, I am also tasked with sharpening the capabilities and potential of my students so that they can achieve success in future.

How do you establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty of your college?

As Henry Ford has rightly said that coming together is the beginning, keeping together is progress and working together is success. Also, we know that man is a social animal and cannot live in isolation and each person has different beliefs, perceptions and values based on their background and culture. So conflicts can arise at any time.

Therefore, to avoid any conflicts and build trust and good relations with my students and fellow faculties, I regularly interact with them through an open and respectful communication channel. Apart from this, I have developed an inclusive and productive environment on campus so that everyone can come together and collaborate for research projects and learning new things. Last but not the least, mentoring groups have been made and 20 students have been assigned to every teacher so that they can directly interact with their mentee without any hesitation. Students clubs are also there in college and their core task is to organize events for their peers.

How do you enforce a practical and industry oriented approach towards subjects?

As we all have observed, the last 2 years of Covid pandemic have opened up new avenues for learning and also brought up imaginative new perspectives. But responsibility still lies with us and being an educational institution we are giving more emphasis on skills development of students so that they can become job ready once they finish their respective courses from our college.

Hence, to make subjects industry oriented and understable for students so that they can get an overview of corporate requirements, trends and developments, we regularly organize industrial visits, training sessions, Entrepreneurs Talks and also offer internship opportunities to students from time to time.

How does your college strategize and update the curriculum to make it befitting for the students?

As our college is affiliated with the University of Rajasthan, hence we follow the curriculum designed and updated by the university itself. And to bridge any kind of gaps between academia and industry, we keep ourselves updated about recent developments, trends, technologies and practices being used in education and the industrial world. We also share the same inputs and suggestions to University people from time to time so that they can make necessary changes in curriculum by including required programs and discarding the old ones. Lastly, we have designed various skill development certificate courses on office management, foreign languages, digital marketing and cyber security etc.

How does your Kanojia PG institution ensure the effective delivery of curriculum?

The Administration of our college always keeps a close eye on effective completion of curriculum. Hence in the beginning of every session, each teacher submits the whole year's teaching plan and Head of all Departments conduct regular meetings with them to take inputs of roadblocks and ensure the syllabus completion on time. And we also conduct guest lectures and expert talks in collaboration with industry experts followed by extra classes for slow learners from time to time.

How do you prepare your students to deal with the outside competitive world?

In today's cut-throat competitive world, it has become very difficult for people especially for freshers to sustain and they need continuous skills upgradation to do so. Therefore, to make our students capable enough so that they can confidently face the outside world and use classroom learning to find innovative solutions for real-world problems, our institution organizes a plethora of activities and events ranging from communication workshops, group discussions, mock interviews, workshops on dressing etiquettes, seminars and symposiums. And we invite eminent personalities to deliver these sessions.

Which extracurricular activities are organized by your institute to enhance the skills of students?

Our institution strongly believes that participation in extracurricular activities keeps students stress free, happy and makes them feel more fulfilled. In addition to this, they get to learn and develop leadership and social skills, strategies of how to work together in a team to reach a common goal and opportunities to explore passion areas. And all this in return improves students' overall academic performance. And if I talk about our own college, we conduct sports tournaments and activities related to NCC and NSS on a regular basis.

What kind of support does your college provide to students for placement and entrepreneurship?

We have a dedicated team for providing career guidance, training sessions and placement opportunities to students in order to make their future bright. Another responsibility of this cell is to organize seminars, workshops and guest lectures from time to time to facilitate interaction between students and industry experts for knowledge transfer and doubt clearance.

Apart from this, we have signed MOUs with many renowned organizations and companies for students skills development and many of these industries visit us on a regular basis to recruit students for various job profiles. We have also achieved the credit of establishing the first woman incubation center called Narika in Rajasthan and this center is tasked with the responsibility of developing the entrepreneurial skills in students and helping them to start their own ventures.

Any valuable advice which you would like to share with the young and ambitious students?
