Malla Reddy College of Engineering [MRCE]

You have fabulous 14 years of teaching experience, what are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector? What is the reason behind you are pursuing a career with Malla Reddy College of Engineering?

Education opens up a world of possibilities for individuals by empowering them with knowledge. The major role of a teacher is to support students in their quest for new knowledge on a specified set of subjects as well as to teach important values, ethics, and discipline to students while also helping them through their academic journey. My journey at MRCE is incredible, here I experienced teaching to the next level. Here I learned a lot about what it means to be a teacher and a lot about myself, as an educator.

You’ve participated and organized numerous workshops, conferences, and seminars. Could you elaborate on how these experiences have contributed to your professional growth and the development of the curriculum?

Workshops, Conferences and seminars are platforms that not only help to learn new aspects, others' perspectives and the latest information, but also a good way of networking. There are many benefits that one gets from attending this first benign confidence then networking, information and motivation. These programmes provide a chance to interact with experts from a specific field and acquire knowledge. By discussing the relevant topics of the particular subject, students tend to learn about the latest information and new skills related to the subject.

In today’s fast-paced technological landscape, how do you keep yourself and your faculty to stay updated with the latest developments in CSE Teaching Methodologies in CSE Department?

It’s really quite an interesting question and definitely, there will be an hour discussion regarding to this…..1st of all we must be clear about things that trend changes every year. Every new technology might affect positively or negatively, Right? Let me give you an example. In web development, PHP was the legend and still, it is but now the new developers are moving away from PHP because Facebook has moved from PHP to Django. Currently, node is the most consistently and fast-growing run time environment and is liked by new as well as old developers.

What are the current biggest challenges in the field of Computer Science Engineering domain in general, and how do you plan to address them as a HOD?

There are many challenges in computer science today, but some of the most significant include:

Artificial intelligence and machine learning develop systems that can learn and adapt to new situations, and make intelligent decisions autonomously. Handling and analyzing large amounts of data to extract meaningful insights and predictions. Protecting computer systems and networks from unauthorized access, misuse, and attacks.Designing interfaces and systems that are intuitive and easy for people to use. Exploring the use of quantum-mechanical phenomena, such as superposition and entanglement, to perform computations.Developing robots that can interact with and assist humans in a variety of settings.

Understanding the limits of what computers can do, and developing new algorithms and methods for solving problems. Developing systems and platforms that allow for the delivery of computing resources and services over the internet. These are just a few examples, but there are many other important challenges in computer science as well.

How do you plan to collaborate with industry professionals and organizations to provide real-world experiences and opportunities for students in the CSE department at MRCE?

By actively engaging with the industry, we receive valuable feedback, gather insights on emerging trends, and develop strong industry networks. These partnerships enable the curriculum to be aligned with industry requirements, ensuring that graduates are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the professional world. Such as Industry partnerships, Research and innovations, Faculty development and industry exposure so on.

Can you explain to us the infrastructural facilities available with respect to the CSE Department at MRCE?

The department has well-equipped ventilated lecture halls with the latest teaching aids, supported by ten laboratories with updated hardware and software. The departmental library is available for faculty and students providing access to reference books, textbooks, journals, e-resources like Science Direct, Springer Link, Taylor, and Francis e-resources, video Lectures of NPTEL, EDUSAT, Turnitin, Language tools, Swayam and NPTEL Local chapter which enhances subject knowledge of students and faculties. The departmental laboratories have more than 220 Computers (Lenovo, HP) supported by a dedicated standby UPS. Each lab is on LAN with a student terminal ratio of 1:1. All labs have an internet facility with a 100 Mbps dedicated linen and a licensed Windows Operating System.

How do you encourage students to participate in extracurricular activities, hackathons, competitions, and research projects to enhance their practical skills alongside their academic learning?

Of course, it is. These activities have a dual advantage. They can be very informative and at the same time, they help in developing soft skills. We see a lot of the new generation lacking social skills because most of their conversations happen on mobile phones. Above mentioned activities are a great platform to help them with social interaction.

It is also a great way to allow students to explore new skills and test existing ones. Students in college always try to discover new things and find what they like. Giving them a chance to see different things and trying them out will help them figure out their goal in life. For students with a very reserved personality, there is nothing worse than performing in front of an audience. But it is only in college that they can get a free audience and a chance to make mistakes and do multiple takes. In the real world, when they will have to present their ideas in front of people who are always ready to criticize, these students will have a really tough time expressing themselves. So if we can train them in college, they will excel in life.

Another skill our students will learn is time management. It is not easy to make time for studies and extracurricular activities simultaneously. Gradually they learn how to manage their time properly.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

Believe in yourself and your abilities. You have so much potential and you can do great things if you put your mind to it. Stay curious and keep learning. The world is constantly changing and there is always something new to discover. Surround yourself with positive influences. Seek out people who inspire you, support you and encourage you to be the best version of yourself.

Take care of yourself. This includes getting enough sleep, eating well, exercising regularly and managing stress. Be kind and respectful to others. Treat others how you would like to be treated. Follow your passions. Life is too short to spend it doing something you don’t enjoy. Have fun and enjoy life. Don’t take yourself too seriously and always find time to do things that bring you joy.

Remember that it’s okay to make mistakes. Everyone does it, and it’s a natural part of the learning process. Stay true to yourself. You are unique and special, and you should always be true to who you are.
