Dr. Dola Sanjay S is the Professor and Principal of the Aditya College Of Engineering and Technology. He holds a Ph.D. degree from JNTUA, Andhra Pradesh. He has over 23 years of work experience in the teaching field. He has published 80+ papers in National and International Journals. He has also attended more than 100 seminars/ conferences/ workshops.
You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?
Many individuals who work in the education sector have a deep passion for learning and enjoy being in an environment where knowledge is valued and shared. They find fulfillment in helping others learn and grow. Educators often find meaning in the fact that they are shaping the minds and futures of young people. The opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of students can be a powerful motivator. The education sector provides opportunities for continuous learning and professional development. Educators can stay up-to-date with the latest research and teaching methods, which can be intellectually stimulating. Schools and educational institutions often foster a strong sense of community among students and staff. This sense of belonging can be rewarding and make one feel connected to a larger purpose. Helping students succeed and achieve their goals can be personally fulfilling. Seeing students grow and thrive academically and personally can bring a sense of accomplishment. The education sector offers a wide range of career opportunities, from teaching and administration to research and policy development. This diversity allows individuals to find roles that align with their skills and interests.
Being the Principal of Aditya College of Engineering and Technology what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?
I believe in leading by example. Being confident in my decisions and actions while adhering to a strong code of professional ethics set the tone for the entire institution. This means making decisions that are in the best interests of the college, its students, and the community we serve, even if they are difficult or unpopular. Patience is a virtue that I hold in high regard. In the dynamic field of education, patience is essential. It’s important to give students and faculty the time and space to learn and grow. It’s also vital to remain calm and composed in the face of challenges and setbacks, as they are an inherent part of any educational institution. I firmly believe that hard work is the foundation of success. I encourage a strong work ethic among the staff and faculty members, as well as instill the importance of diligence and dedication in our students. It’s essential to lead by example, demonstrating that I am willing to put in the effort required to achieve our institution’s goals. I believe in holding myself, as well as my team, accountable for our actions and decisions. This accountability extends to ensuring that the college’s resources are used efficiently and transparently.
The education systems in India and other foreign countries are structured very differently. In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying here in your institute?
Strong basics can lead to huge development because many times, many people say that there is a lot of gap between industry and academic institutes and education. So, industry people always say that the present students are not suitable for the industry. So, education institutes, why even today in LKG, do they teach the alphabet/ What is the requirement of the industry? Why can’t they teach for LKG? Basics are required. Must and should. Basics will be given in education institutes. Absolutely, I am not finding it. We are not less than any country in the world. We are the best in Aditya.

What are some of the biggest challenges you see? Both for higher education in general and for Aditya College of Engineering and Technology specifically.?
The biggest challenges are branches or specialization imbalances like CSE allied courses. The problem for core takers. If you observe in this room, there are hundreds of products like my goggles, specs, pen, ring, paper, tie, fan, mobile phone, TV, monitor, everything. Can we manufacture a single event, a single product without the help of mechanical engineering? No sir, we don’t. So, even the painting, brush needs mechanical equipment or an engineer to design and handle development or whatever. So, there should not be an imbalance in the system. So, most of the research or most of the developments happening in the society as per me, please don’t feel bad. As per me, they are not for the society. Making human beings lazy. The development is towards making human beings lazy. Not trying to support any of the societal problems.
What are some plans that you’re currently (or will be) designing for Aditya College of Engineering and Technology International Affairs and/or students?
For Aditya College of Engineering, one of the big challenges that we want to concentrate on is to make sure that there should be good quality research work at the student level. So, we want to incorporate it at research level education. Case study-based education is to be implemented. So, currently, we have students from nearly 12 different countries and 18 different states. So, altogether there are nearly 16,000 students on this campus. So, concentrating more on making sure that all these students are scalable. They have good skills. And many times our vice chairman Dr N Satish Reddy Garu and chairman Dr N Sesha Reddy Garu, said they always say that 90% of the students come to our institute who are really below or average economic level. So, we concentrate more on making sure that good jobs and everything. From this year onwards, we are concentrating on international placements and international internships.
What would you like people to know about your institute they may not know?
We have a strong emphasis on their commitment to ethical behavior and values. we will maintain integrity, honesty, and a sense of responsibility in all their actions and decisions. Research institutions, in particular, work tirelessly to advance knowledge and contribute to the betterment of society. we aim to conduct rigorous and impactful research that can address important challenges and drive innovation. We are focused on providing high-quality education and fostering the intellectual and personal development of our students. We aim to prepare students for successful careers and responsible citizenship.
How do you tend to establish a healthy relationship and environment in your institute?
Remember that success and happiness are closely linked. When individuals in the institute are happy and satisfied, they are more likely to be motivated, productive, and committed to the organization’s goals. Building a healthy relationship and environment is an ongoing process that requires continuous effort and commitment from all members of the institute. Communication is the foundation of any healthy relationship or environment. Encourage open and honest communication among all members of the institute. Create platforms for feedback and ensure that everyone feels heard and valued. Define clear expectations for behavior, performance, and responsibilities. When everyone knows what is expected of them, it reduces misunderstandings and conflicts. Promote a culture of respect for diversity and inclusion. Ensure that all individuals, regardless of their background, feel welcome and valued. Address discrimination and bias promptly and decisively.
