Dr. Dhirendra Tewari is the President and Owner of Allahabad based Shambhunath Institute of Engineering and Technology which is managed by Utthan Society. He has over 30 years of work experience in the education sector and he laid the foundation of Shambhunath Institute in 2004. As part of his education, he has done Graduation and Master's in Law and PhD from University of Allahabad.

What factors keep you engaged in the education sector?

I find the education sector incredibly fascinating as it's almost like a universe full of endless opportunities. In addition to this, students' breakthrough moments when they achieve something gives me immense happiness and being an integral part of their growth and discovery is also indescribable and extremely fulfilling.

The constantly evolving nature of education intrigues and allows me to explore new teaching methods, integrate technology in it, and find innovative ways to deliver finest quality knowledge to students. Last but not least, contributing to shaping young minds of our nation and preparing them for future challenges drives my passion. So I would say that all these factors together keep me connected to the dynamic and challenging world of education.

Being the President and Owner of Shambhunath Institute, what is your philosophy of leadership?

Leadership for me is all about empowering people with a vision and treating them with empathy. Because I believe a true leader is not the only person who gives instructions, but the one who goes beyond limits to create a suitable work environment for his/her team, where everyone feels valued, motivated, and capable of giving their best.

Additionally, a Leader should embody a clear vision and give proper direction and purpose to the team to achieve a common goal. Lastly, adaptability to changing surroundings, openness to feedback, and a commitment to learning are vital features of a true leader.

In your opinion, what benefits can students gain from studying in your institution?

Our college is a diverse tapestry of cultures and ideas and we not only offer the best courses but also provide suitable opportunities to students to grow on both personal and professional level. In other words, the campus of our institution is a vibrant mix where different backgrounds blend, offering a rich exchange that goes beyond textbooks. Overall, joining us to pursue their dreams would prove to be a transformative journey for students and we have every facility to enhance their skills by bringing them out of their comfort zones and educating them about the latest technologies.

How does the curriculum of your college align with best practices of the industrial world?

The curriculum of our college is designed after rigorous analysis of trends and developments of the industrial and educational world, hence it acts as a bridge between academia and the real world. Also, we give special attention to enhancing and nurturing the practical, communication and problem-solving skills of our students as our aim is to produce graduates who are not just academically skilled but also ready to confidently navigate the professional world.

Any valuable advice which you would like to give to current youths and aspiring students?

I would like to suggest to my dear students and youths of our society to explore their passions fearlessly as sometimes our true calling hides in unexpected places. Also, take chances and challenges when it comes to learning new things and improving your skills. And don't forget the fact that failure is a part of the journey, not the journey itself, so keep learning and keep growing. Keep that curious child alive in you who wants to know about anything and everything. Lastly, believe in yourself and your abilities, because overcoming self-doubt can be a significant challenge, but remember that you are capable of doing incredible things. 

What are some of the greatest strengths of your college?

Our college stands out because of its dynamic curriculum and we regularly invite industry experts to actively shape our courses and ensure their relevance and alignment with industry needs. This collaboration also keeps us updated with the latest trends and technologies demanded by various sectors.

Apart from this, we have adopted real-world applications and assign projects to students to practice hands-on learning. Internships are also offered to them from time to time. Hence I would say that our curriculum makes us strong and resilient.

How is your college more inclusive to students from diverse backgrounds?

As for our university, giving an inclusive environment to students is a priority, hence we have taken several measures to ensure people of diverse backgrounds feel valued while being on campus. First and foremost, we provide financial support to underprivileged and needy students and also have various aid programs for them so that every youth can access available opportunities without much hustle. 

Additionally, we celebrate the diversity of our students and teachers through various events and by distributing rewards to them when they achieve a milestone. This practice in return enriches the educational experience and creates role models for students.
