You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?
Teaching and research development are the key roles of the education sector. I enjoy motivating students technically to become entrepreneurs and create their own startups. It is also fulfilling for me to teach the students the current technologies and skills and see them achieve success in their careers.
Being the HOD of Ramachandra College of Engineering what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?
Guiding students with effective delegation and communication with a view of the reality of the world towards nature and equality with humanity is my leadership style. I prioritise the well-being and growth of our students above all else. Their education, personal development, and future success are at the forefront of every decision I make. I understand the importance of delegation. I trust my faculty and staff to excel in their roles and provide them with the autonomy and responsibility they need to be successful. Delegating tasks allows individuals to thrive and take ownership of their work. Engineering is not isolated from the real world. I believe in preparing students for the challenges and opportunities of the modern world. We strive to bridge the gap between theory and practical applications, ensuring that our graduates are well-prepared to tackle real-world problems. My responsibility extends beyond just education. I believe in instilling a sense of environmental consciousness and sustainability in our students. We promote initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of our institution and encourage students to be stewards of nature. We emphasize the importance of diversity and inclusion. Every student, regardless of their background, should have equal opportunities to succeed. Our institution promotes a culture of respect, understanding, and empathy.
The education systems in India and other foreign countries are structured very differently. In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying here in your institute?
The education system is different from other countries but has it own merits. Students need to have a practical mindset to realise their goals. They must not only realise their passion but also learn the right technical skills in the current technologies. This what our education system aims to teach for the students to be competitive in the global stage.
How does the curriculum of Ramachandra College of Engineering ensure the best practice of industry?
We have community service projects for our students to take part in to help society and all the communities facing problems. This gives students a taste of the reality on the ground. Moreover, we have established industry connections by signing MOUs with hardware and software companies. Through this association, we conduct programs on Intellectual property rights, Design Thinking, Critical Thinking, Innovation and Entrepreneurship and organize internships for the students.

What do you think should be the Institute's top priority over the next five years?
Fostering the overall development of students is crucial. This can include not only academic growth but also personal and professional development. Providing resources, programs, and mentorship that help students grow as individuals is essential. Ensuring that education is accessible to a wide range of students, regardless of their background or circumstances, is a fundamental goal. This involves affordability, scholarships, and accessibility for students with disabilities. Achieving equity in education means creating an environment where all students have an equal opportunity to succeed. Addressing disparities in resources, support, and outcomes is vital. Maintaining high academic standards and constantly improving the quality of education is key. This includes updating the curriculum, investing in faculty development, and embracing new teaching methodologies. Making education affordable for students should be a top priority. This can involve keeping tuition costs reasonable, offering financial aid, and exploring cost-saving measures. Holding the institution accountable for its performance and ensuring that it meets its goals and objectives is essential. Transparency and regular assessments can help with this. Encouraging students to engage in science and technical skills is important for fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. These skills are essential in today's rapidly evolving technological landscape. Promoting entrepreneurship and a positive attitude toward it can empower students to become innovators and job creators. Supporting entrepreneurship programs and initiatives can be beneficial.
What do you see as your Institute's greatest strengths?
Our management supports its students in all aspects, from becoming entrepreneurs to helping them starting up a business, with current technologies. We also organise programs on Kreya and hold institute innovation council activities and events. We have several clubs, like media clubs, that help students participate in extracurricular activities. We are active participants in the institute's innovation council towards research where we use smart and current technologies that are helpful for society.
What would you like people to know about your college they may not know?
Our students benefit not just from textbook education but also from technical training, especially skill development. Our students also develop more creative innovation skills and are up to date with smart technologies. They learn how to use these technologies to develop different ideas that boost not just their resumes but also benefit society.
Any message you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?
Mechanical engineering is an evergreen department that makes students eligible for multiple jobs. Our students have secured jobs in all companies related to software, hardware, manufacturing industries, research and development. We have companies that are choosing mechanical engineering students today and will continue to do so in the future as well for varied roles.
