Prof. Mahendra Sahare is the Head of the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at the NRI Institute of Information Science and Technology. At present, he is pursuing a Ph.D. from Rabindranath Tagore University, Bhopal. He has around 14 years of experience in the teaching field. He has published 15 research Papers in Journals and Conferences.

Being a Faculty of the NRI Institute of Information Science & Technology, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

My role as HOD is to provide each possible facility that a student may require in his academic career apart from that I take their classes, I also conduct their practicals as well and focus on their behavior & discipline so that apart from their quality education they can become a better human being & a better citizen.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

I maintain a good relationship with the students by understanding their mentality first as it helps us know what the real problem is & solving their problems as a friend which closes the gap between a teacher & a student. I maintain a good relationship with the facilities by listening to their problems and providing them with necessary solutions in order to have mutual understanding and respect.

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects and make it industry-oriented?

Apart from theoretical knowledge, we are imparting practical knowledge through Industrial visits as well as guest lectures from Industrialist which helps the students understand things better about their subject & gain knowledge & adapt themselves to the new advancements & changes in the technologies, we engage our students in various practicals due to which they come up with new innovative ideas & they try experimenting with things in order to learn something new in order to be Industry oriented.

What are the best practices offered by the department to the students that help them gain the necessary skills?

The best practices that we are providing to our students are Practical Labs, Industrial Visits, Seminars, Engaging them in various activities, and doing projects and research such that they can adapt themselves to the modern world and gain the necessary skills and knowledge that will help them grow in their career.

How do you strategize the curriculum and how often does it get updated to make it befitting for the students?

We follow the curriculum of RGPV and apart from this curriculum we also add additional subjects for the betterment of our students so that they can learn something new as per the dynamic environment and can adapt to it.

When you came to college, what was your vision and how are you trying to achieve the same?

My vision when it comes to the college is to help prepare the students according to the modern world so that students can adapt themselves according to this modern world and have a successful career ahead.

Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real-world challenges?

Yes. We provide extracurricular activities such as sports, startups, entrepreneurship programs, seminars, and various other competitions students show their interest in many things.
