BVC Institute of Technology and Sciences

You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

The personalized continuous learning process for my growth, student growth, and organization growth. Critical thinking for solving practical problems. Creativity for doing innovative projects in the education sector to meet the needs of a changing world. Collaboration with various organisations for upskilling knowledge Equity and inclusion are close to my heart. Every student deserves a fair chance at quality education, regardless of their background. It’s heartening to see efforts being made to create inclusive classrooms that cater to diverse needs and celebrate every student’s uniqueness.

Being the HOD of BVC Engineering College what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

Leadership is about collaboration and inspiring others to do their best work. I aim to be direct and collaborate with my team members by delegating tasks, leading by example. I believe in addressing conflicts directly and constructively. I encourage open communication and facilitate discussions to understand different perspectives and find a resolution that everyone can agree on. I once had to make a difficult decision to let a team member go due to consistent underperformance. It was a tough decision, but it was necessary for the overall productivity and morale of the team. I delegate tasks based on my team members’ strengths, interests, and current workload. I ensure that the tasks are clearly defined and they have the resources and support they need to complete them. I ensure my team meets its objectives by setting clear and measurable goals, regularly tracking progress, providing feedback and support, and adjusting our strategies as needed. When our department underwent a major restructuring, I led my team through the change by communicating openly about the reasons for the change and how it would affect them. I also provided support and resources to help them adapt to the new structure.

The education systems in India and other foreign countries are structured very differently. In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying here in your institute?

The teaching methods used in our college are designed to support students’ growth in logical and analytical thinking. Our institution has now broadened its scope to include blended learning strategies that place equal emphasis on the theoretical and practical parts of education. Higher education in India is well known for its affordability, which is an extra benefit in addition to its high quality. It is possible to receive a great education at an affordable price thanks to merit scholarships. Therefore, students who want to study but are hesitant to take the first step because of financial constraints can come to India and acquire the best education at prices that are reasonable. One of the best things about studying in such a diverse nation is that students can fully satisfy their curiosity about finding new things. Students get the opportunity to learn about many cultures, languages, cuisines, and festivals in addition to their regular studies. The higher education system in our college encompasses 360-degree learning rather than just a predefined curriculum. This includes both classroom instruction and extracurricular activities, including student-organized city and heritage walks, inter-college tournaments, and annual festivals. In the end, it facilitates both academic and personal development.
