Additionally, he has guided 40 research projects till date, won 4 awards for his wonderful work in the world of academics, and has attended 24 Faculty Development Programs and 12 Workshops throughout his career.
What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?
The key factor which has kept me associated with the dynamic world of education is that we as educators get abundant opportunities to upgrade our skills and knowledge while teaching students. Apart from this, the satisfaction and happiness we receive afterwards is truly rewarding.
Being the HOD at BVC Engineering College, what is your philosophy of leadership?
I strongly believe in a collaborative way of working and always provide equal opportunities to everyone, be it my staff members or students, so that they can enhance their knowledge, stay focused towards their goals and aligned with the institution's vision. And even if someone commits any mistake by violating the rules and regulations defined by the college, we talk to them personally and make them understand not to do the same mistake again. And if they again repeat the same mistake even after getting a warning, I ask for a written explanation or make a complaint to the higher authorities.
In your experience, what benefits can students gain from studying here in your institute?
According to me, students after enrolling themselves in our courses will get numerous benefits as well as opportunities to improve their communication and technical skills. We even offer them skills enhancement training programs via NPTEL/SWAYAM, Coursera, Codetantra, Hackerrank or APSSDC online courses.
Apart from this, we regularly encourage them to take part in technical hackathons followed by various kinds of curricular and extracurricular activities and industrial visits, all of which we organize from time to time. Last but not the least, we have a dedicated Placement Cell to make students industry ready and help them get a good job in a reputed company. Hence, I would say that today's ambitious youths have every reason to join us.
How can the curriculum of your BVC Engineering College ensure the best practices of industry?
It gives me immense happiness to tell that from this year onwards, we will be designing our autonomous curriculum, benefit of which would be that we can update it swiftly in accordance with changing corporate demands and development, and our main aim would be to equip students with required skills and knowledge, which are sought after in today's modern and competitive world. An autonomous curriculum also allows us to regularly collaborate with global industry experts and local companies and conduct surveys to stay updated on emerging trends and technologies. And we can also take feedback from industry advisory boards and alumni as and when required.
Also, we should follow the student-centric outcome based education model that is focused on defining clear, measurable learning outcomes. Because I believe with this approach, we can transform our students into world-class professionals having essential competencies. In addition to this, we should make internships mandatory and integrate co-op programs and hands-on projects in it.
Last but not the least, a robust curriculum should have enough arrangements to improve communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability skills of students and this can be achieved by introducing industry relevant certifications in it and fostering relations with industry partners. Then it should also be able to provide career guidance and placement services to students to help them smoothly transition into the industry. An educational institution should also invest in faculty development programs to keep educators updated with the latest industry practices and technologies and college should also encourage research and innovation within the college.
