Aligarh Muslim University of University Debating and Literary Club organised its first-ever Model United Nations workshop around the G20 Summit from September 11 to 14, 2023. The workshop was attended by over 500 students from various departments.
New Delhi: The University Debating and Literary Club (UDLC) of Aligarh Muslim University has successfully organised its first-ever Model United Nations workshop around G20 Summit. The workshop was held at the university's Kennedy Auditorium from September 11 to 14, 2023.
As per Aligarh Muslim University, the G20 Model United Nations Workshop was attended by over 500 students from various departments. Club Secretary, Ms. Aafia Rizvi welcomed the participants, after which Dr. Sadaf Fareed, President of UDLC shared the workshop’s objectives.
On day 1 of the workshop, Senior Members of UDLC, Ms. Areeba Dilshad and Mr Shams-ud Doha Khan shared the overview and goals of Model United Nations and concluded the event with a question-answer session with the participants.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr Shams ud Doha Khan shared the “Rules of Procedure” during the Model United Nations Conference. The officials expressed their gratitude and thanked the office bearers, volunteers and participants for their involvement.

Prof. Nandini Patel, Adjunct Professor of International Relations at Malawi School of Government, Africa and Chairperson of IPI said, "The global BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) movement seeks to address Palestinian rights by non-violently pressuring Israel through boycotts, divestments, and sanctions”.
“It draws inspiration from the anti-apartheid movement and aims to end Israeli occupation, secure equal rights, and promote Palestinian refugees' right to return. The movement has gained global support but also faces controversy and criticism”, she added.

The AMU G20 Model United Nations Workshop 2023 also included an international webinar on "Insights on the Global Movement for Palestinians Rights: Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions", conducted by the Department of West Asian and North African Studies of Aligarh Muslim University.
