Course Curriculum

10

  • Usually the master's courses in RWTH are a little bit tough for the mechanical-based courses. It is a mix of theory and practical subjects. It is always based on research; it is a results-orientated university. Usually the classes are based on the subjects selected for each semester. Class timings start from 8:30 in the morning up to 7:30 in the evening. There are a lot of Indian students enrolled here in my class.

Admission Experience

  • Applied to 2 (Rwth Aachen-masters in automotive engineering and TU Clausthal-masters in intelligent manufacturing) and I got offer letters from both universities but I chose RWTH because of the Ranking of the university in Germany and the location, which is best for further support. I didn't receive any rejection from the universities I applied to.
  • One of the best technical universities provides mechanics-based courses. I choose RWTH because of the Ranking of the university in Germany and the location is best for further support. The location is best for finding part-time jobs and it's very near to the Netherlands and Belgium. The university is providing practical support for the students and giving in-hand experience.
  • I applied for the winter semester of 2023 during January of 2023. I got my admission letter before the end of March 2023. The application for the winter semester starts during December and ends around February i think. For the summer semester, it starts around March'April and ends around may every year. Winter semester is the biggest semester; students can find all the options for application.

Faculty

  • As it is a results-oriented university, there are a lot of institutes under the same university; they are taking care of each subject lecture and exercises for the subjects. The course structure is always advanced with the latest technology. University itself giving opportunity to do students jobs and there are a lot of job fairs to find jobs, which conducted during different times of the year.

Campus Life

10

  • As far as I know, RWTH university has a lot of institutes and a lot of buildings in the entire city of Aachen. University itself has different libraries, a sports center, a gym, a medical college, student dorms, canteens and a lot more. Each institute has different activities and each community conducts different events here, like summer parties. Indian students also conduct some activities here during the festival time.

Part Time Jobs

  • There are student jobs available as research assistants and other jobs by each institute, and they provide 15 euro per hour for the work. Other than this, there are a lot of part-time jobs available outside; basically, they pay a minimum payment of 12.82 euro per hour for the work. Usually 20 hours per week is the part-time work possibility. A student can work either 140 days as full-time or 280 half days as part-time per year; that is the maximum limit the visa allows to work.
  • Indian students usually find jobs in warehouses like amazon. But there are factory works possible, like the production of food items. The Lindt chocolate factory is nearby; students get jobs there with the help of job recruiting agencies. Online applications are there for some jobs and others need to go and meet the office directly. Currently it is difficult to find jobs here in Aachen due to the high number of applicants (during January to april). Usually the job market will be active during the end of may.

  • The German language is a mandatory factor to secure the job. Currently the job market is going down due to some issues here in germany. Therefore, finding a job after graduation within 6 months is really a big task. Find jobs through online portals and apply for them with a perfect resume and skills, which helps to find a job. Internships are also helpful to find jobs. Germany is an automotive hub so there are a lot of companies recruiting people.

Accommodation

Off Campus

  • There are a lot of options to find the accommodation. I find it with the help of an app named WG. University also provides student dorm facilities; students need to apply through a website to get them. I am paying around 400 euros per month for my 2-shared apartment of 62 m². It includes the rent, electricity, gas, water, wifi, radio tax and heating cost. There are a lot of scams ongoing while searching for accommodation here; that was my challenge while finding one.
  • The best thing is my accommodation is near to the university's main building; I can access it within a 7-minute walk. There is a bus stop near to my apartment within 200m and a railway station within a 10-minute walk, as well as 3 supermarkets and other shops.

Exams

  • IELTS is mandatory for every course taught in English or German and mandatory for courses in German. Some of the courses need the GRE for admission. A CV is necessary during the application and also the certificate for university study qualification, transcript of study and curriculum of the bachelor's necessary for the application here at RWTH. IELTS score for each course is different and they revise the score during each semester or each year

Fees

  • Currently I am doing free education here at RWTH Aachen, but there is a semester contribution that needs to be paid every semester between 290 and 320 euros approximately. That covers the semester ticket, which helps to travel all of Germany for free and also covers a state in the Netherlands called south limburg. Can travel by bus, train, tram and other public transport except express trains like ICE.

Scholarship

  • There are some scholarships for students by DAAD. And some Indian companies provide scholarships to students based on their grades. Students can find the details on the DAAD website about the scholarship and details are provided there to know how to apply for the scholarship. The deadlines are there for each semester. I am not sure about the requirements of each scholarship.
