Dislikes
- I can says for my course : Need to be change the old traditional method of teaching.Need to include more and more recent trends course like LLM, GENAI, More lean towards optimization , Very basic part of data is covered
Course Curriculum
- Difficulty level is high. Course is a very basic touch of all areas, which is positive if you don't want to deep dive into tech but at the same time it is negative if you want to get good knowledge. there will be one, two or three classes in a day depending on availability, but this is decided prior to the semester , it is growing day by day, but when I was there, there were 35 student , where indian student are 20 .
Admission Experience
- I have applied to two universities, RWTH AACHEN UNIVERSITY and TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY OF MUNICH; I got confirmed from RWTH Aachen University. Yes, i recived a rejection from the TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY OF MUNICH. My background is from Electronics so my etcs point is sufficient for the course I have applied for, so that is the only reason why I get a rejection from the TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY OF MUNICH.
- RWTH: I find the course content is good and the best part is this is what i am looking for. Admission Process is quite simple. IELTS; at least 1 year of experience. Nowadays the GRE is also mandatory. Everything is quite easy , Admission department is always organizing webinars and also available to answer your questions by mail. So the overall process is very smooth.
- In Germany, universities typically have two intakes per year: the Winter Semester and the Summer Semester. The Winter Semester usually begins in September or October, while the Summer Semester starts in March or April. I have applied for Winter Semester usually begins in September or October. All the verification and other process took 5 months to get the final confirmation
Faculty
- In my course, with a 2:1 faculty-to-student ratio, it is very good; you can ask your doubt anytime. Faculty members always provide you some good input, and if he/she is not available, then definitely they will send some of the other faculty colleagues to help you. Teaching method is a traditional one. There are lots of part-time jobs (hiwi jobs) available under the teacher, so you don't have to worry about this part. I admire ML teacher most because his teaching method is bit unique.
Campus Life
- Whole city is a campus, so I don't know the exact number. DATA SCIENCE CLUB, Startup incubator are different clubs.
- There are career fairs happening every year (this is very important) As it is always help you to engage with the company, which leads to getting some internship or full-time job.
- There are lots of sports is also there like swimming, soccer, badminton, chess, marathon, etc.
Part Time Jobs
- Teaching Assistant (TA), Research Assistant (RA), or Departmental Assistant (DA) positions: Depends on the requirements of that department so it is not possible to say anything about this.
- Pay ranges: A Hiwi job 8 hours in a week will pay you 520 euro , Part time job 20 hours per week will pay you 1400 euro
- Other on-campus jobs include helping faculty in labs; usual hour vary from 8 to 30 hours per week
- You can work 40 hrs for 120 days or 20 hrs for 240 days. Secure on campus part-time jobs are not so difficult and also not very easy
- minimum wages decide by government now it iis 13.85 euro per hours, not so easy and no so difficult also , here every process is very slow so you can expect 1 whole month processing time , Process is simple you always look if your profile matches to the Job description if it is yes than you can directly apply with your CV and Cover letter , cover letter is must .
Placement
- You can find the opportunity in the data field a lot, but the German language is mandatory; if you are not fluent in German, then it is a bit difficult to get the job. Average salaries vary from region to region and industry to industry but average income is between 50 K euro and 60 K euro per annum. You always need to apply on company portal and networking also s here. My all batchmates are placed and working in Industry , Major comapnies are NTT DATA, etc.
Accommodation
- College can help you in searching for this; there are a lot of platforms.
- Monthly rent varies from city to city from 300 euro to 800 euro (it includes all facilities).
- if you are in Aachen, it will cost you max 350 , but at the same time in Munich, it will cost 800 euro. There are a lot of scams going on in the name of renting, so beware of that. My accommodation is 4 km from the university; many students live there.
Exams
- IELTS, GRE( when I enrolled, this was not required),
- Important documents are the Statement of Purpose, LOR, and CV.
- In RWTH there is no interview process. But in TUM there is an interview process where they asked me about my job profile, why i am interested in this course and some technical questions related to Machine earning and deep learning. They even asked for some code algorithms as well.
Fees
- 27000 Euro, and and I got a 3000 euro scholarship. fees is charges semester-wise; monthly expenses depend on the city. if you are living in munich than 1000 euro is the minimum (including everything) if you don't get the student dormitory, but if you get that, then 700 euro (including everything). In Aachen, it's 500-600 Euro if you get the private dormitory and 400-500 euro if you get the student dormitory.
Scholarship
- Yes, I got one discount, not the scholarship. The name of the discount is "Early bird discount" , for applying in the windows they provided for enrolling in the course. Yes, there is one more scholarship called "deutschlandstipendium" where students get 500 euro monthly. It depends on how many students applied for this scholarship and how many people got selected.
