Required Exams for Admission
Course Curriculum
- Difficulty level - On a scale of 1-10, the course was 8 difficult.
- The course was 30% theoretical and 70% practical. Students were graded on their in class activities, presentations etc and not just the final examination.
- Hands-on experience instead of just a theoretical approach was positive.
- The lack of AI usage regulation was negative.
- Average number of students - 45
- Indian students - 30
Admission Experience
- Applied to:
- RWTH Aachen University - Admitted
- HTW Berlin - Accepted
- University of Sheffield - Accepted
- University of Manchester - Accepted
- North Eastern University - Accepted
- New York University - Accepted
- Rejected From:
- Technical University of Munchen - Rejected (maybe low due to GPA)
- TU Berlin - Rejected (maybe not enough work experience)
- RWTH is the third-best college in Germany after TUM and TUB. Their technical expertise in certain domains is unparalleled. The reason for choosing Germany over the UK was the financial difficulties in the UK currently.
- After receiving the letter of admission, I had 4 weeks to sign and submit the contract. It was very smooth. Once they received the contract, they gave me another 4 weeks to make the first-semester payment. This too was smooth. Following this they helped me with the onboarding by organising student meet-ups.
- Eligibility criteria - IELTS> 7.0
- Overall smooth experience-Winter intake - Semester starting in September. I applied for the winter intake as my course was accepting students only in the winter semester.
- For the course starting in October 2023, I applied in November 2022.
- I received my admission in February from the university.
- Made the fees payment by April and was registered for the winter semester by May.
- Took part in the student virtual meet ups from June to September before going to Germany.
Faculty
- Faculty to student ratio - 1:8. I believe there are enough professors and assistants. Even if the professors are unreachable, their assistants are usually reachable to the students.
- The course provides what it promises, but it is not something that will secure you a job.
- The university lays the platform for a secure job, but the students have to make the most out of it.
- The faculty helps in setting up networking events, but the students have to secure part-time or full-time jobs themselves.
Campus Life
- The university has its buildings all over the city of Aachen.
- Library, basketball and football courts, gyms, badminton courts, swimming pools are all available at different locations of the city.
- Major fests - RWTH unity day, Easter and Halloween events etc
- At least 20 different student organizations exist, eg AISA - For indian students, IAESTE - To find internships abroad, INCAS - For social events and making friends etc
Part Time Jobs
- 30 % of the students secure part time jobs on campus as teaching and research assistants.
- Pay range - 500-550 EUR per month for TA/RA/DA
- Maximum hours of work allowed - 10 hours per week.
- To secure a part time job on campus is quite challenging due to the high number of applicants, but most students choose to work elsewhere due to the higher pay and industry exposure.
- Hourly salaries for regular part time jobs in industries - 13-14 EUR/hr.
- Getting a part time job while studying is very challenging as the course is already hectic and students cannot keep up with both the things.
- To apply to part time jobs, students just go to linkedin and browse in the part time or "Working Student" jobs and apply based on their interests.
Placement
- Around 60% of the students are employed with full time jobs after 6 months of graduation.
- Average salary range - 60000 EUR
- Students usually extend their internships or work students into full time job offers. Otherwise they network during the career fairs organized by the university and secure jobs. One can also always apply on linkedin but it is much more difficult there due to the large number of applicants.
- Major companies - Henkel, Unity Consulting, P&G etc
Accommodation
- I found my accommodation through the online website called wg-gesucht. New ads are posted there everyday but the competition is very high. One needs to sell themselves very well to be considered for the application.
- 420 EUR rent, including wifi, electricity, heating and water charges.
- Finding an accommodation in the area close to the required amenities like bus stop, market etc was a challenge.
- My recommendation would be to start early, at least 3 months before the start of your course and include your hobbies and interests in the initial message.
- My accommodation is currently 10 mins by walk from the campus.
Exams
- Exams - IELTS. Minimum score of 7.0 or higher and higher than 7.0 in all sections.
- Documents required - Letter of Recommendation from 3 professors, Latest CV, Detailed SOP with clear indication why the course is the right match for you, transcript of grades, Degree certificate. The documents had to be submitted during the application process itself.
- An Interview was not a part of the admission process.
Fees
- Tuition fees - 30000 EUR. 10000 EUR per semester.
- Accommodation - 10000 EUR - to be sent to a blocked account before coming to Germany

- Yes, a few of my batchmates received a similar scholarship. Women in Tech, Excellence scholarship, Deutschland stipendum (From the government - For people with high grades in the first semester)
- On average, around 30% of the students in our batch received some kind of a scholarship.
