- Right mix of international and French culture- Most of the students are international, however the school values its French culture.
- Ambitious cohort- The cohort is not only diverse but everyone is highly ambitious, forcing you to work hard just to keep up with others, elevating your professional skills in the process.
- Location- I personally prefer the countryside and the college is located in the outskirts of Paris, but within reachable distance. The campus has a pristine lake inside it as well as a small forest.
Dislikes
- Lack of active efforts for cultural amalgamation- The college does not actively keep events to introduce people with different nationalities. Hence, some people may tend to stick with people of their own nationality.
- Lack of transport to the city of Paris- Even though the college has its own bus service to the city, it is very infrequent and uncertain.
- Disparity in hostel rooms- Only first year students are provided with rooms that have a kitchen in it, rest of the cohort do not have such rooms.
Placement
- I personally have not graduated yet so will not be able to accurately answer this. According to the college website, 100% of students found a job 3 months after graduation. The average salary of a Master in Management graduate was 65,000 euros when I joined the course in 2023. It rises to 125,000 euros 3 years after graduation.
- Students usually find a job through networking on LinkedIn or applying on an internal job board called Handshake.
- Major companies that hire from the college are L’Oréal, BCG, Bain, and P&G.
- The accommodation differs based on your course. For the first year of your Master in Management program, you are allotted the T1 room. This room has a kitchenette and a bathroom attached to it. The rent is around 620 euros.
- For the second year, you are allotted a room in the AP building. This room does not have a kitchenette attached; however, it has a bathroom. There is one common kitchen per building in these buildings and the rent is around 570 euros.
- The T1 buildings are naturally more comfortable to live in but you would also get used to the AP buildings when you have to. One advantage of the AP buildings is their proximity to the academic block. You can reach the academic block within a few minutes. For the T1 buildings, you will require around 7-8 minutes to reach the academic block.

Likes
- Social life (parties, events organised, etc.)
- Extra-curricular activities (lots of free classes and associations to join- there is always something to do)
- Alumni network - with one of the biggest networks in Europe, you will always find a fellow HEC comrade in any company you wish to work for
Dislikes
- It's far from Paris
- Classes are less rigorous than I expected (coming from a quant and math background, I expected a little more rigor)
- Help with jobs- while the events and prep for jobs is good when you're in the college, you're pretty much on your own once you graduate
Placement
- Most of the batch secures some kind of employment within the 6 months of completing graduation. This year it has been tough since the market is not the best. The average salary ranges between 40000-70000 euros per annum.
- After graduation, usually the common sites such as LinkedIn, Glassdoor, Indeed and the HEC Alumni website are places to search for a job. Networking through LinkedIn and alumni networking events also is a leans. Most Investment banks and the Big 4 are companies that take HEC graduates.
- I was in campus housing and chose the cheapest apartment without really looking at the pictures. I did not have the best housing (the AP buildings are not the nicest buildings to stay in). Even though I saved up a small amount, the other houses were much more comfortable to stay in. Monthly rent was 560 for the AP buildings and around 670 for the other buildings.
- Housing application was taken care of by the college- we just had to fill a form stating the kind of accommodation we would like. I realised most of my batchmates took accommodation in the better building so the socialising was restricted in my case. Otherwise the campus, classrooms and other buildings were very accessible. Most Indians stay on campus.

Likes
- The international culture that gives students a chance to understand different perspectives and grow from diversity
- Course curriculum is one of the best in the world as it includes the foundational courses, specialization and more importantly, all the courses are practically taught with industry relevant examples
- Student culture in the college is very infectious with networking events and social gatherings to meet & know about the lifestyle of the cohort. This helps in evaluating our strategy for the rest of the college and as well develop your network
Dislikes
- The campus is far from the city of Paris which might bound students to the limited space and act as a barrier for someone who wants to experience European city life and also difficult to understand various business trends in the city. Paris always holds networking events, exhibitions for students and so many marketing stunts that would develop the creativity of a student
- Language barrier is still a concern. Even though the campus is English supported, most of the administrative and office work still requires students to know French
- Career fairs in the college mostly invites French companies who mostly require someone who can speak French and have the conversations with the clients. This might cause trouble with limited opportunities for English speaking students
Placement
- About 75% of the people get placed before graduating from the college and ~90% of the people get the jobs within 3 months of course completion
- The average salary depends upon the chosen specialization, chosen geography to work and the chosen role. But the salary ranges from 40,000 Euros to 120,000 Euros/year
- Common methods used to find jobs is through networking events in the college, University job portal, career events and other portals such as LinkedIn
- The placement experience is very hard especially for people graduating during a hard job phase. It is difficult to be identified by recruiters outside France as most of the Indian students opt to work outside France for the language reason
- Major companies include - BCG, McKinsey, Kearney, Goldman Sachs, Apple, Google, Microsoft.
- HEC Paris students usually receive college accommodations and is allotted through the university portal. And college also refers to come options i the city for people opting to stay out and they provide end to end service in allotting the accommodations to the students
- The monthly rent range: 500 - 750 Euros depending upon the time of accommodation each year
- I recommend people to stay in campus during their studies because of the facilities available and also to commute to the learning center or the class room
- Since the accommodations are on the campus, it would somewhere around 500m to 1km
