Admission Status. Open. HEC Paris’s primary September 2027 masters intake is live on the HEC admissions portal, with Master in Management and MSc International Finance Round 1 closing on 7 October 2026 (application fees €170, around ₹18,809, and €190, around ₹21,022, respectively). The MBA January 2027 intake is also live, with Round 3 closing 20 September 2026 and a €200 (around ₹22,128) application fee.

HEC Paris admissions accept international applicants across the Master in Management, the specialised MSc portfolio, the full time MBA and the doctoral program, with masters candidates asked for a bachelor’s degree plus a competitive academic record and MBA candidates asked for a bachelor’s plus at least two years of professional experience.

  • Master in Management Round 1 for the primary September 2027 intake closes on 7 October 2026 through HEC Paris’s own admissions portal.
  • MiM base tuition is €57,700 (around ₹63.84 Lakhs) across two years, and the application fee is €170 (around ₹18,809).
  • UG needs a Class XII diploma with B2 English, masters need a bachelor’s with IELTS 7.0, plus GMAT or GRE.
  • HEC Paris does not publish an official acceptance rate, with MBA widely estimated at 20 to 25 percent.

Indian applicants apply most heavily to the Master in Management, MSc International Finance and the full time MBA. Alumni sentiment consistently flags the tight cohort sizes and heavy group project load. Ranking, campus and placement context sits on the HEC Paris page.

Currency note: All INR figures in this article use €1 = ₹110.64, the live rate on 31 August 2026. Live rates may vary, so confirm with your bank before remitting.

HEC Paris Application Deadlines and Rounds

Every HEC Paris masters program routes through HEC’s own admissions portal at candidatures.hec.edu, and each program runs a fixed set of rounds rather than a single cut off. The dates below are drawn from the official HEC Paris admissions pages for the January 2027 MBA cycle and the September 2027 masters and PhD cycles.

HEC Paris’s primary intake for Indian students is September, when the Master in Management, MSc, PhD and Bachelor (joint Bocconi) tracks all open. The MBA also has a secondary January intake.

HEC Paris Eligibility for Indian Students

HEC Paris eligibility is stated as institution-wide floors on the official admissions pages, with individual programs adding subject and test overlays. Indian applicants are expected to meet both the academic threshold and the English proficiency floor before the admissions committee reviews the essays and interview.

  • Bachelor (via Bocconi): Class XII diploma at strong marks, B2 English level, plus SAT, ACT or Bocconi’s admission test.
  • Master in Management: a completed bachelor’s degree in any discipline, GMAT, GMAT Focus, GRE or TAGE-Mage score with no fixed minimum.
  • MSc International Finance: a bachelor’s with a strong quantitative record, plus GMAT, GRE or TAGE-Mage.
  • MBA: a bachelor’s degree, GMAT, GMAT Focus, EA or GRE (average admit GMAT of 635), plus at least 2 years of full time work experience.
  • PhD: a completed masters degree, GMAT or GRE (waived only for the Law and Regulation specialisation).
  • English test floor: IELTS 7.0, TOEFL iBT 100, PTE Academic 70, Duolingo 135 or Cambridge C1 accepted institution-wide; the MBA additionally requires IELTS 6.5 per section.

HEC Paris IELTS Waiver for Indian Students

Indian applicants can request an English test waiver if they hold a prior degree taught fully in English, which many Indian bachelor’s programs qualify for on presentation of a Medium of Instruction (MOI) certificate. Native English speakers are exempt outright, and PhD applicants with two or more years of English-taught university study can also request a waiver. The MBA does not automatically waive the test even for English-medium graduates, so plan to sit IELTS unless the admissions office confirms otherwise in writing.

HEC Paris PG Programs and English Scores

HEC Paris runs the Grande Ecole Master in Management alongside a specialised MSc portfolio spanning finance, marketing, data science, strategy and sustainability. Base tuition for the Master in Management is €57,700 (around ₹63.84 Lakhs) across the two year track, with specialised MSc programs priced separately by faculty; a course-wise tuition breakdown by program sits on the fees page rather than in this article.

An English test waiver applies to masters candidates whose prior bachelor’s was taught in English, but the entrance test (GMAT, GRE or TAGE-Mage) is still mandatory. The MSc portfolio also includes a €2,000 (around ₹2.21 Lakhs) international student fee and a €5,000 (around ₹5.53 Lakhs) deposit that counts toward tuition on enrolment.

Note: Program specific entry requirements, fees, and intake availability may differ from the institution-wide minimums shown above. Always confirm on the official HEC Paris page for your chosen program before applying.

HEC Paris Bachelor Program via Bocconi

HEC Paris does not run a standalone bachelor’s program. Indian applicants targeting undergraduate study at HEC Paris apply to the joint Bachelor of Arts and Science in Data, Society and Organisations co-delivered with Bocconi University in Milan, with the intake based on the Bocconi campus in September. Applications route through the Bocconi portal rather than the HEC portal.

Eligibility is a Class XII diploma with strong marks, English at B2 level (IELTS 5.5 or equivalent), an SAT, ACT or Bocconi online admission test score, plus a motivational letter, CV and an online video interview. The next application cycle for the September 2027 intake opens on the Bocconi portal in mid to late 2026, so track the Bocconi admissions calendar directly if this is the route.

HEC Paris MBA Admissions and Rounds

The HEC Paris MBA is a 16 month full time program with two intakes each year, in September and January, and rolling review inside each intake. The January 2027 intake is currently open, and Round 3 for it closes 20 September 2026. Applicants pay a €200 (around ₹22,128) application fee at submission on the HEC MBA admissions portal.

HEC Paris MBA Class Profile and Test Scores

The HEC Paris MBA is aimed at candidates with a bachelor’s degree and at least two years of professional experience, though the Class of 2025 averaged six years on entry. The admissions committee accepts GMAT, GMAT Focus, GMAC Executive Assessment or GRE, all less than five years old, with the class average GMAT at 635 and no absolute minimum. English proficiency floors are IELTS 7.0 (with 6.5 per section), TOEFL iBT 100, PTE Academic 70, Duolingo 135, or a Cambridge C1 result.

HEC Paris MBA Interview Format

Shortlisted candidates sit two behavioural interviews with HEC alumni or admissions team members, typically held online. Interviews focus on career trajectory, motivation for the HEC Paris MBA and leadership examples, not on case questions. Admissions decisions are released five weeks after each round deadline.

Insider note: Indian applicants who target Round 3 or Round 4 of the September 2027 MBA intake have a stronger scholarship shot than late-round applicants, because HEC’s merit and diversity fellowships are drawn from a fixed pool that empties as rounds progress.

HEC PhD Program and Funding

The HEC Paris PhD runs across seven specialisations, including Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Economics and Decision Sciences, and takes five years to complete. The 2027 intake is open, with the Round 1 preferred deadline on 18 December 2026, a final Round 1 deadline of 4 January 2027, and Round 2 closing 20 April 2027. Both rounds are weighted equally.

HEC Paris PhD Funding and Stipend

All admitted PhD candidates receive a full tuition waiver (base tuition of €30,000 in years 1 to 2 and €12,000 in years 3 to 5 is fully covered) plus a monthly stipend that adds up to roughly €26,000 per year (around ₹28.77 Lakhs per year) for five years. From year 3, students still pay Doctoral School registration of €391 (₹43,260) and the CVEC student life fee of €103 (₹11,396). Additional external funding options are listed on the funding page for Indian students.

HEC Paris PhD Admissions Timeline

Shortlisted candidates are invited to faculty interviews within three to four weeks of the deadline, with final decisions and waitlist notifications going out one to two weeks after interviews. Applicants must submit a personal statement, CV, transcripts, two recommendation letters, GMAT or GRE scores (waived for Law and Regulation) and an English test result.

HEC Paris Application Process

Every HEC Paris masters, MBA and PhD application runs through the school’s own portal at candidatures.hec.edu, not a central platform. The steps below follow the sequence used by the official HEC admissions portal.

  1. Create an account on the HEC admissions portal and select the target program and intake.
  2. Upload academic documents including transcripts from Class XII onward and degree certificates.
  3. Submit test scores (GMAT, GRE, TAGE-Mage where required) and an English proficiency score.
  4. Write essays and upload the CV plus two professional or academic recommendation letters.
  5. Pay the application fee of €170 (₹18,809) for MiM, €190 (₹21,022) for MSc International Finance, €200 (₹22,128) for the MBA, or €60 (₹6,638) for the PhD on the HEC admissions portal.
  6. Sit the online interview if shortlisted, held on Zoom with program directors and alumni.

HEC Paris Admission Decision Timeline

Master in Management admissibility results follow each round by roughly three weeks, with final admission decisions issued four to six weeks after the round deadline. MBA decisions release five weeks after each deadline, and confirmation from the applicant is due about four weeks later against a €5,000 (₹5.53 Lakhs) deposit that credits toward tuition. Deferrals are granted only in exceptional cases, so plan to enrol in the year of the offer.

HEC Paris Documents Required

The document checklist below is the working set for Indian applicants applying to the Master in Management, MSc International Finance, MBA and PhD. Every document is uploaded on the HEC admissions portal, so scans should be clear and in English or accompanied by a certified English translation.

  • Passport bio page valid for at least the duration of study.
  • Passport style photograph taken within the last six months.
  • Certified academic transcripts from Class XII, bachelor’s, and masters if applicable.
  • Degree certificate or enrolment letter for degrees still in progress.
  • Standardised test score report (GMAT, GMAT Focus, GRE, EA or TAGE-Mage) as sent by the testing body.
  • English proficiency score report (IELTS, TOEFL iBT, PTE, Duolingo or Cambridge).
  • Two recommendation letters from professional supervisors or academic referees.
  • Current CV in English covering education, work experience and extracurriculars.
  • Essay responses to the program’s admission questions.
  • Work experience letters for MBA applicants confirming role, tenure and reporting line.
  • Financial proof for visa readiness, typically bank statements or a sponsor letter.

HEC Paris Acceptance Rate

HEC Paris does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate, and no per program rate is stated on the admissions pages. The estimates below are based on class size and applicant volume patterns reported around the flagship programs, not on an audited school-wide figure. Additional context on class quality and ranking bands is on the HEC Paris ranking band page.

HEC Paris MBA Acceptance Rate

The HEC Paris MBA is estimated at 20 to 25 percent acceptance, based on an intake of roughly 300 students against an applicant pool observed across two intakes each year. Later rounds tighten as scholarship funds deplete, which is why Round 5 admits tend to be less common than Round 1 or Round 2 offers.

HEC Paris Master in Management Acceptance Rate

The Master in Management is estimated at 15 to 20 percent acceptance for international applicants, given the very tight cohort size and the number of applications the Grande Ecole draws each year from top Indian engineering, commerce and liberal arts programs.

France Student Visa Process for HEC Paris

Indian students admitted to HEC Paris apply for a long stay student visa (VLS-TS Etudiant), which covers study of more than three months and doubles as a French residence permit for the first year. The application runs through Campus France India (the mandatory pre-consular step) followed by a VFS Global appointment for biometrics.

Applicants submit the admission letter from HEC Paris, proof of financial resources (at least €615 per month, roughly ₹68,043 per month, for the full year), a return ticket or itinerary, French accommodation proof, an English or French CV, and Campus France’s approval attestation. After arrival in France, students validate the visa online with OFII within three months to complete the residence permit conversion.

2026 update: Campus France India requires the student visa file to be opened at least three months before the September intake, so Indian applicants targeting September 2027 should start the Campus France interview process by June 2027 at the latest.

Tips and Application Checklist for HEC Paris

The following tips and steps are drawn from Indian applicant patterns at HEC Paris across recent MiM, MSc and MBA cycles, with the sequencing tuned to the September 2027 intake calendar.

  • Target Round 1 or Round 2: HEC’s merit scholarships draw from a fixed pool that empties round by round, so early rounds carry the strongest funding upside.
  • Book GMAT or GRE 6 months before the deadline: the retake window is tight if the first sitting is under 635, and admissions read the trend across attempts.
  • Sit IELTS 4 to 5 months out: official reports need 2 weeks to reach HEC, and results are valid for 2 years.
  • Request MOI certificates 8 weeks before applying: Indian universities often take 4 to 6 weeks to issue a Medium of Instruction letter that supports the English test waiver.
  • Line up two recommenders 10 weeks out: one professional and one academic, both able to speak to leadership or research fit.
  • Draft essays across three weekends: HEC’s essays are behavioural, so specific stories with numbers land harder than generic career narratives.
  • Prep for the Zoom interview 3 weeks after applying: shortlisted candidates get short notice, and alumni interviewers dig into the essay themes.
  • Open the Campus France file inside 8 weeks of receiving the offer: the pre-consular process cannot be skipped and drives the visa timeline.

HEC Paris admissions reward applicants who work backwards from the intake month with a paperwork buffer, sit tests early enough to retake if needed, and file inside Round 1 or Round 2 to protect the scholarship shot. The Master in Management and MSc International Finance are the strongest Indian-applicant entry points, the MBA is a career switch play for candidates with 2 to 6 years of work experience, and the PhD is a fully funded five year commitment.

Scholarship

  • I did not receive a scholarship.
  • There are mainly 3 types of scholarships.
    • Eiffel scholarship: It’s given by the government of France for students with outstanding academics and experience. Hence, it is a profile-based scholarship and every applicant to HEC is automatically considered for this scholarship. Typical amount is 50% of the tuition fee.
    • Academic scholarship: This scholarship is provided by HEC for students with outstanding academics and experience. The amount ranges from 4,000 to 8,000 euros based on the profile of the student.
    • Charpak scholarship: This scholarship is for Indian students studying in France. It is a profile-based scholarship as well and has a separate application.

Scholarship

  • I did not apply for or receive any scholarship during my course. There were however several scholarships available for different merits and criteria- for merit, or women, for under privileged, etc.
  • I am not so sure of how many people receive a scholarship in a year and I am also not aware of the range of amount that can be received for a scholarship.

Scholarship

  • I received a Merit based scholarship from HEC Paris of 6,000 Euros all at once. Apart from this scholarship, there are few others such as Women in business scholarship, Need based scholarship that is directly awarded from HEC Paris.
  • Other outside scholarships include Eiffel scholarship (selected by the college and sent to the French government), Charpak scholarship (awarded to Indian students) and many other scholarships depending upon the native country of the student and the performance during the interview. My batchmates received at least one of the above mentioned scholarships and i found lot of people with no scholarships as well.
