HEC Paris admissions select international applicants on a holistic, rolling basis across the MBA, masters, joint Bachelor with Bocconi, and PhD tracks. Postgraduate entry rests on a Bachelor’s degree of around 60 percent or equivalent, while the Bachelor pathway opens at Class XII completion plus SAT or ACT scores.

  • Next live deadline for the September primary intake is the MBA September 2026 rolling close on July 30, 2026.
  • Base Master in Management tuition is EUR 57,700 (around INR 62.03 Lakhs) over two years, with an MBA application fee of EUR 200 (around INR 21,500).
  • PG entry needs Bachelor’s at around 60 percent plus IELTS 7.0, while UG via Bocconi needs Class XII plus SAT or ACT.
  • Acceptance rate is estimated at 15 to 20 percent across competitive masters and MBA intakes.

Popular tracks among Indian students at HEC Paris include the two-year Master in Management, the one-year Master in International Finance, and the September or January MBA cycles. Peer reviews cite rigorous academics, a tight cohort culture, and strong consulting and finance placements.

Status: Open. The MBA September 2026 rolling cycle closes on July 30, 2026. The MBA January 2027 intake Round 7 closes on August 16, 2026, with the application fee set at EUR 200 (around INR 21,500). Master in Management and Master in International Finance, both anchored on the September 2027 primary intake, typically open Round 1 in early October 2026.

HEC Paris Application Deadlines for Indian Students

HEC Paris runs two MBA intakes a year, September and January, while masters and PhD tracks all start in September. The September intake is primary because the Master in Management, Master in International Finance, all eight specialised MSc programmes, and PhD Round 1 open here. The MBA layers a second January intake on top of the September cycle. All masters deadlines for the September 2026 cycle have closed, so Indian applicants should target the next live MBA rounds or wait for the September 2027 masters cycle to open in October 2026.

Currency note: All INR figures in this article use EUR 1 = INR 107.50 (June 2026). Live rates may vary, so confirm with your bank before remitting.

The table below lists the next live windows per the official HEC Paris MBA deadlines page and the program admissions pages. HEC Paris’s primary intake for Indian students is September, where most masters and PhD programmes open.

HEC Paris Eligibility Requirements for Indian Students

HEC Paris reads each application holistically, so academic performance, standardised tests, and English fluency are weighted together rather than against fixed cut-offs. The institutional baselines are tight: a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline for the Master in Management track, financial accounting and quantitative prerequisites for the Master in International Finance Business track, and a recognised undergraduate degree plus standardised test for the MBA. For Indian applicants whose Bachelor’s was taught in English, the English-test requirement can be waived.

  • UG general entry: Class XII completion at around 65 percent, plus SAT or ACT, plus B2 English (around IELTS 5.5 to 6.0).
  • PG general entry: Bachelor’s of 3 years (180 ECTS), around 60 percent in any field.
  • MBA entry: Recognised Bachelor’s degree, around 2 to 10 years of work experience preferred.
  • Standardised test: GMAT, GMAT Focus, GRE, or TAGE-Mage required for masters and MBA, with no published minimum.
  • English floor: IELTS 7.0 with 6.5 per section, or TOEFL iBT 100, or Duolingo 135 for the MBA.

HEC Paris English Tests Accepted

HEC Paris accepts a broad set of English proficiency tests across masters and MBA tracks: IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT, TOEIC (all four parts), Cambridge English C1, Duolingo English Test, and PTE Academic on select tracks. Test results must be less than two years old at the application deadline.

HEC Paris IELTS Waiver for Indian Students

The English test requirement is waived if you completed your prior degree in an English-medium institution. The vast majority of Indian Bachelor’s degrees qualify, since most Indian universities deliver instruction in English. To claim the waiver, you must submit a Medium of Instruction (MOI) letter from your university confirming that all courses were taught in English. For the MBA, the waiver is more conservative and typically requires a degree from a country where English is an official language. PhD applicants are exempt if they completed two or more years of English-taught university studies.

Insider note: The MOI waiver is the single fastest way to compress your HEC Paris masters timeline. Request the MOI letter on official university letterhead before you start the online application, since it must be uploaded alongside transcripts.

HEC Paris PG Programs and Base Tuition

HEC Paris offers the Grande Ecole Master in Management as its flagship two-year track, alongside a tight set of one-year specialised MSc and joint X-HEC programmes. The base tuition for the Master in Management is EUR 57,700 (around INR 62.03 Lakhs) across the M1 and M2 years, split as EUR 28,850 per year, with international students paying an additional EUR 2,000 student fee. For a course-wise comparison across all masters, see the course-wise fees breakdown on Collegedunia. The eligibility figures in the table reflect verified institution-wide minimums from each program’s admissions page.

The Grande Ecole interview is a 25 to 30 minute online conversation in English covering background, motivation, and career goals. Pre-selected candidates are invited within four weeks of each round close, and final decisions follow within two weeks of the interview.

Note: Program-specific entry requirements, fees, and intake availability may differ from the institution-wide minimums shown above. Always confirm on the official HEC Paris page for your chosen program before applying.

HEC Paris UG Bachelor Pathway for Indian Students

HEC Paris does not run a standalone undergraduate degree on its Jouy-en-Josas campus. The only Bachelor pathway carrying the HEC name is the Bachelor in Data, Society and Organizations, delivered jointly with Bocconi University in Milan. Indian applicants apply through the Bocconi admissions portal, and the intake is at Bocconi’s Milan campus each September.

ProgrammeDurationMinimum EligibilityEnglish Req. Min.
Bachelor in Data, Society and Organizations (joint with Bocconi)3 yearsClass XII completion at around 65 percent, SAT or ACT, or Bocconi online admissions testB2 level (around IELTS 5.5 to 6.0)

The Bocconi application cycle runs three rounds each year. For September 2027 entry, Indian applicants should target Round 1 in late September 2026 since selectivity tightens in later rounds.

HEC Paris MBA Admissions for Indian Students

The HEC Paris MBA runs as a 16-month full-time programme with two intakes a year, September and January. Indian applicants account for one of the largest international cohorts on campus. The programme uses a rolling admissions model with fixed round deadlines, and you receive a decision within five weeks of each deadline. Detailed MBA fees, scholarships, and class profile information lives on the MBA programme page on Collegedunia.

HEC Paris MBA Eligibility and Work Experience

The official MBA requirements page lists three eligibility paths:

  • Standard path: Completed undergraduate degree from an accredited university.
  • Senior path: Secondary education plus 5 years of work experience, with at least 3 years in management.
  • Athletic path: National-level representation in a sport, with academic record reviewed flexibly.

Professional experience is strongly preferred. The Class of 2025 averaged 6 years of pre-MBA work experience, with most admits falling in the 2 to 10 year band. GMAT, GMAT Focus, or Executive Assessment scores less than five years old are accepted, with the GRE as an alternative. The average GMAT for the most recent class was 635. There is no absolute minimum.

HEC Paris MBA Interview and Decision Timeline

Shortlisted candidates are invited to two evaluative interviews, each typically conducted online with senior HEC MBA alumni or admissions staff. Interviews probe leadership stories, post-MBA goals, and fit with the cohort. The interview report feeds into a holistic admissions committee review.

HEC Paris Executive MBA

The Executive MBA runs in modular weekend formats with intakes in March and October. Eligibility tightens to at least 8 years of professional experience with management exposure, and admissions are based on the application, a TRIUM Global aptitude assessment, and an interview. The TRIUM Global Executive MBA (a tri-school programme with NYU Stern and LSE) is a separate pathway with its own admissions cycle.

Insider note: Submitting in Rounds 7 to 9 of the January 2027 cycle keeps your application competitive for both scholarship review and visa processing. Round 10 in November is rolling, but visa lead time for India can compress your timeline if you defer.

HEC Paris PhD Admissions for Indian Students

The HEC Paris PhD is a five-year fully funded doctoral programme across nine research specialisations including Finance, Strategy and Business Policy, Information Systems and Operations Management, Marketing, Economics and Decision Sciences, and Management and Human Resources. Admissions open twice each cycle with two rounds, and both rounds receive equal consideration.

HEC Paris PhD Funding and Stipend

All PhD students entering from 2025 receive a cost-of-living scholarship of EUR 26,000 per year (around INR 27.95 Lakhs) for five years, funded by the HEC Foundation. The full tuition is waived for all doctoral students throughout enrolment. The scholarship is independent of teaching or research assistant work, so students can take on optional research assistantship and teaching opportunities for additional income. Conference travel, research visits, and visa costs receive separate support.

What is the PhD application timeline?

For September 2027 entry, the preferred Round 1 deadline is December 18, 2026, with a final cut on January 4, 2027. Round 2 closes on April 20, 2027. Shortlisted candidates receive interview invitations 3 to 4 weeks after each deadline. Final admissions decisions follow within 1 to 2 weeks of the interview. GMAT or GRE is required for most specialisations, with a waiver available only for the Law and Regulation specialisation. The PhD application fee is EUR 60 (around INR 6,450).

Planning note: Indian PhD applicants should plan to take the GMAT or GRE by October 2026 to leave room for the December round. The PhD interview is research-focused, so a polished research statement carries more weight than a longer CV.

HEC Paris Application Process for Indian Students

HEC Paris uses program-specific online portals rather than a single university-wide application. Each portal asks for the same core dossier with program-specific essays and references. The end-to-end process for an Indian applicant typically runs three to four months from registration to admit decision.

  1. Pick your target program, intake, and round on the official admissions page, and create a portal account.
  2. Upload Bachelor’s transcripts, degree certificate or enrolment proof, English-medium letter for the waiver, and a current CV.
  3. Take the required standardised test (GMAT, GRE, or TAGE-Mage) and submit official scores to HEC Paris.
  4. Complete program essays, secure two recommendations (one academic for masters), and add a passport-size photograph.
  5. Pay the application fee of EUR 200 (around INR 21,500) on the HEC Paris MBA application portal for MBA, or the program portal for masters and PhD.
  6. Sit the online interview if pre-selected, then await the admission decision.

How HEC Paris Sends Admission Decisions

MBA decisions arrive 5 weeks after each round deadline by email and on the portal. Master in Management decisions follow each round close within around 6 weeks. Admitted students typically have 4 to 6 weeks to accept the offer and pay a non-refundable seat deposit, which is later deducted from the first-year tuition. Deferrals are reviewed case-by-case, usually granted for visa delay or medical reasons. Offers may carry conditions such as final degree certificate submission or a minimum English score if applied without a final test result.

HEC Paris Documents Required for Indian Students

HEC Paris asks for a tight paperwork set, uploaded entirely through the program portal. Documents must be in English or accompanied by a certified English translation. Most Indian applicants spend three to five weeks gathering these items, so plan ahead.

  • Passport copy: Valid for at least 18 months past the intake start date.
  • Bachelor’s degree certificate: Or current enrolment proof if final year.
  • Official transcripts: From every institution attended, with grade-point translation if needed.
  • CV: One-page or two-page resume in English.
  • Standardised test scorecard: GMAT, GMAT Focus, GRE, or TAGE-Mage report sent to HEC Paris.
  • English test score report: Or MOI letter from your Bachelor’s university for the waiver.
  • Two letters of recommendation: One academic for masters, two professional for MBA.
  • Program essays: Motivation, career goals, and short personal statement.
  • Passport-size photograph: Recent, on a plain background.
  • Application fee receipt: Generated on the portal after payment.

The PhD application adds an optional writing sample or prior research material. The MBA adds a structured personal narrative essay. Document checklists are program-specific, so verify your dossier on the relevant admissions page before submitting.

HEC Paris Acceptance Rate

HEC Paris does not publish a single institutional acceptance rate. Across the MBA and masters portfolio, third-party admissions data points to a 15 to 20 percent admit band, with the MBA running tighter at around 10 to 15 percent for international applicants. The basis for this estimate is the published class profile, average GMAT, and the round-by-round deadline structure, which screens applicants down to a small cohort. For peer comparison data, see the HEC Paris ranking band on Collegedunia.

HEC Paris MBA Acceptance Rate

The MBA cohort runs to around 280 students per intake across September and January starts. With an estimated applicant pool of 1,800 to 2,400 a cycle, the acceptance rate trends to around 12 to 15 percent. The Class of 2025 averaged a GMAT score of 635 on the GMAT Focus, with a 6-year average work experience.

What makes HEC admissions competitive?

The HEC admissions committee weighs four factors equally: academic record, test scores, professional or research trajectory, and the fit shown across the application essays and interview. Indian applicants who are admitted typically present a Bachelor’s at 70 percent or higher from a recognised university, a GMAT or GRE above the class median, two to four years of substantive work experience for the MBA, and a coherent post-degree plan that maps to an HEC strength area such as finance, consulting, or sustainability.

Insider note: The interview screen is where most Indian masters applicants are filtered out. Practising answers to questions on career pivots, leadership stories, and reasons for choosing HEC over INSEAD or LBS has a higher pay-off than a marginal GMAT improvement.

France Student Visa for HEC Paris Applicants

Indian students admitted to HEC Paris apply for the VLS-TS Etudiant (Visa Long Sejour valant Titre de Sejour), a long-stay visa that also serves as a residence permit for the first year. India falls under the mandatory Etudes en France procedure, so the application begins on the Campus France India platform before moving to VFS Global for biometrics. Plan for 6 to 8 weeks of total processing time after admission. Required documents include the HEC admission letter, proof of financial means of at least EUR 615 per month (around INR 66,150) for one year, accommodation proof, civil status documents, and Campus France registration confirmation.

2026 update: VLS-TS validation is fully online via the ANEF portal. After arrival, you have three months to validate the visa and pay the EUR 50 (around INR 5,375) OFII e-stamp. The visa carries work rights of up to 964 hours a year, equal to roughly 20 hours a week during term.

Tips for HEC Paris Admissions

The following tips are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at HEC Paris and the published admissions guidance for the 2026-27 cycle.

  • Pick your round early: Apply in Rounds 1 to 5 of the MBA cycle for the strongest scholarship review.
  • Lock the MOI letter: Request your Bachelor’s English-medium letter early to claim the IELTS waiver cleanly.
  • Target a 700-plus GMAT: The Class of 2025 averaged GMAT Focus 635, so 700-plus boosts admit and scholarship odds.
  • Anchor career goal essays: Map post-degree goals to HEC career club tracks like Finance, Consulting, or Tech.
  • Schedule the test early: Book GMAT, GRE, or TAGE-Mage by August 2026 for the January 2027 intake.
  • Prep two interviewers: MBA interviews use two evaluators, so rehearse with two distinct stories.
  • Verify Campus France steps: The Etudes en France registration is mandatory before VFS biometrics.

HEC Paris Admissions Checklist

The following steps cover what Indian applicants typically complete in the 4 to 6 month window before the deadline.

  • 10 weeks before deadline: Book and complete GMAT, GMAT Focus, GRE, or TAGE-Mage.
  • 8 weeks before deadline: Request transcripts and degree certificates from your Bachelor’s institution.
  • 6 weeks before deadline: Brief recommenders, share the recommendation portal links, and set a draft due date.
  • 5 weeks before deadline: Collect the Medium of Instruction letter from your university registrar.
  • 4 weeks before deadline: Draft essays, share for peer review, and refine to the word limits.
  • 2 weeks before deadline: Pay the application fee of EUR 200 (around INR 21,500) for the MBA, or program-specific fee for masters.
  • 1 week before deadline: Final dossier review on the portal, then submit at least 48 hours before the cut-off.

HEC Paris admissions reward early planning, a tight standardised test score, and a clear post-degree career narrative aimed at finance, consulting, or sustainability tracks. The September 2027 masters cycle opens in October 2026, while MBA applicants have live rounds running through November 2026 with rolling decisions after.

Scholarship

  • I did not receive a scholarship.
  • There are mainly 3 types of scholarships.
    • Eiffel scholarship: It’s given by the government of France for students with outstanding academics and experience. Hence, it is a profile-based scholarship and every applicant to HEC is automatically considered for this scholarship. Typical amount is 50% of the tuition fee.
    • Academic scholarship: This scholarship is provided by HEC for students with outstanding academics and experience. The amount ranges from 4,000 to 8,000 euros based on the profile of the student.
    • Charpak scholarship: This scholarship is for Indian students studying in France. It is a profile-based scholarship as well and has a separate application.

Scholarship

  • I did not apply for or receive any scholarship during my course. There were however several scholarships available for different merits and criteria- for merit, or women, for under privileged, etc.
  • I am not so sure of how many people receive a scholarship in a year and I am also not aware of the range of amount that can be received for a scholarship.

Scholarship

  • I received a Merit based scholarship from HEC Paris of 6,000 Euros all at once. Apart from this scholarship, there are few others such as Women in business scholarship, Need based scholarship that is directly awarded from HEC Paris.
  • Other outside scholarships include Eiffel scholarship (selected by the college and sent to the French government), Charpak scholarship (awarded to Indian students) and many other scholarships depending upon the native country of the student and the performance during the interview. My batchmates received at least one of the above mentioned scholarships and i found lot of people with no scholarships as well.
