UGMAC 2026: Registration Dates, Seat Matrix, Eligibility, Cutoff and Seat Allotment

UGMAC 2026 (Bihar Under Graduate Medical Admission Counselling) is the state-level counselling process conducted by the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB) for MBBS, BDS, B.V.Sc & A.H., and B.Sc Poultry Production admissions in Bihar’s government and private colleges. BCECEB released the official Advertisement No. BCECEB-2026/01 on April 2, 2026, formally starting the 2026 admission cycle. Since the NEET UG 2026 re-exam is scheduled for June 21, 2026, the UGMAC 2026 counselling schedule and registration dates are expected to be announced in July–August 2026 after NTA declares the result.

• NEET UG 2026 Re-exam: The re-exam is confirmed for June 21, 2026 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM after the original May 3 exam was cancelled due to paper leak allegations. UGMAC 2026 counselling will begin only after NTA declares the result, which is expected in July 2026.
• UGMAC 2026 Registration: Online registration for UGMAC 2026 is expected to open in August 2026. In 2025, registration opened on July 30 and closed on August 4. The fee is ₹1,200 for UR/EWS/BC/EBC candidates and ₹600 for SC/ST/DQ candidates.
• Seat Matrix: Based on 2025 data, approximately 2,482 MBBS seats and 315 BDS seats across 21 medical colleges and 7 dental colleges in Bihar are expected to be covered under UGMAC 2026. The official 2026 seat matrix will be released along with the counselling schedule.
• Round 1 Allotment: UGMAC 2026 Round 1 seat allotment is expected in September 2026. In 2025, Round 1 allotment was declared on August 9. There will be a total of 4 counselling rounds, including a Stray Vacancy round for remaining seats.

What is UGMAC 2026?

UGMAC stands for Under Graduate Medical Admission Counselling. It is the official state-level medical admission counselling conducted by the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB) for undergraduate medical, dental, and allied health science admissions in Bihar.

The counselling covers seats in MBBS, BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery), B.V.Sc & A.H. (Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry), and B.Sc Poultry Production programs. Admissions are strictly based on NEET UG scores — there is no separate state-level entrance test.

Bihar reserves 85% of state quota seats for bonafide residents of Bihar, managed through UGMAC. The remaining 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats are filled by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) at the central level and are open to candidates from across India. Only UGMAC governs the state quota seats.

For 2026, BCECEB formally issued Advertisement No. BCECEB-2026/01 on April 2, 2026, notifying candidates and institutions of the upcoming UGMAC 2026 cycle. The counselling schedule will be released after the NEET UG 2026 result. Based on 2025 data, Bihar has approximately 2,482 MBBS seats across 21 medical colleges and 315 BDS seats across 7 dental colleges covered under UGMAC.

UGMAC also covers admission to UGMAC[AYUSH] — a separate counselling process for AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy) courses in Bihar. UGMAC and UGMAC[AYUSH] are run separately under the same BCECEB framework.

UGMAC 2026 Important Dates

BCECEB has not released the official UGMAC 2026 counselling schedule yet. All counselling-related dates are expected timelines based on the previous year’s (2025) schedule and are subject to change after NEET UG 2026 results are declared.

Important: NEET UG 2026 re-exam is on June 21, 2026. The UGMAC 2026 counselling schedule will only be released after NTA announces the NEET result, expected in July 2026. Keep checking the official BCECEB website for updates.

UGMAC 2026 Eligibility Criteria

You must meet all the eligibility conditions to register for UGMAC 2026. These include domicile, academic qualifications, NEET score, and age requirements.

1. Domicile / Residency Requirement

This is the most important eligibility condition for UGMAC. You must be a bonafide resident of Bihar. Candidates from other states cannot apply for state quota seats under UGMAC. You qualify as a Bihar resident if any of the following applies:

• You have passed Class 11 and Class 12 from a school or college located in Bihar.
• Your parents are permanent residents of Bihar.
• Your parents are employed by the Bihar State Government and are residing in Bihar.
• Your parents are Central Government or PSU employees currently posted and residing in Bihar.
• Your parents have settled as refugees in Bihar.

Candidates who studied Class 11 and 12 outside Bihar — even if their parents are Bihar residents — must confirm domicile eligibility before applying, as BCECEB may require additional proof.

2. Academic Qualifications

You must have passed the 10+2 (Intermediate) examination or its equivalent with the following conditions:

• Compulsory subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology, and English.
• Minimum aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology: 50% for General/UR/EWS candidates and 40% for SC/ST/OBC/EBC candidates.
• The qualifying exam must be from a recognized board (CBSE, BSEB, ISC, or equivalent).

3. NEET UG 2026 Qualifying Score

You must have a valid NEET UG 2026 score. The NEET qualifying cutoffs (minimum percentile to be eligible for counselling) are:

4. Age Requirement

You must be at least 17 years old as of December 31, 2026. There is no upper age limit for MBBS and BDS admissions as per the current NMC (National Medical Commission) guidelines.

5. Nationality

Indian citizens are eligible. OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) and PIO (Person of Indian Origin) cardholders may also be eligible in certain categories. Foreign nationals are not eligible for state quota seats under UGMAC.

UGMAC 2026 Registration and Application Process

UGMAC 2026 registration is entirely online. You need to complete registration before you can participate in choice filling and seat allotment. Here is the step-by-step process:

• Step 1 — Visit the official portal: Go to bceceboard.bihar.gov.in and click on the UGMAC 2026 registration link when it is made active.
• Step 2 — Identity verification: Enter your NEET UG 2026 roll number and date of birth. The system will verify your NEET eligibility and fetch your basic details from NTA records.
• Step 3 — Fill personal details: Enter your name, father’s name, mother’s name, date of birth, category, address, and contact details (mobile number and email).
• Step 4 — Fill academic details: Enter your Class 10 and Class 12 examination details, including roll number, year of passing, board name, and marks obtained.
• Step 5 — Upload documents: Upload a recent passport-size photograph and your signature in the prescribed format and size. Other documents may need to be uploaded depending on your category.
• Step 6 — Pay registration fee: Pay the non-refundable fee of ₹1,200 (UR/EWS/BC/EBC) or ₹600 (SC/ST/DQ) through online mode — net banking, debit/credit card, or UPI.
• Step 7 — Preview and submit: Carefully review all entered information before final submission. Errors in category or domicile details can lead to rejection at document verification.
• Step 8 — Download registration form: Save and download Part A and Part B of the application form. You will need these at the time of document verification and reporting.
• Step 9 — Choice filling: After registration, log in again to fill your college and course preferences. Arrange choices carefully in order of preference. Once locked, choices cannot be changed.
• Step 10 — Lock choices: Lock your choices before the deadline. Unlocked choices will be auto-locked at the deadline time.

The registration fee is non-refundable. Pay only through the official BCECEB portal. Do not use any third-party website or agent for registration.

UGMAC 2026 Merit List and Rank Card

BCECEB prepares a separate UGMAC state merit list (rank card) for Bihar-domicile candidates, distinct from the NTA national NEET merit list. This state merit list is the basis for all seat allotments under UGMAC.

How the UGMAC Merit List is Prepared

• BCECEB receives NEET UG 2026 marks and rank data from NTA after result declaration.
• The board prepares a separate merit list including only Bihar-domicile NEET qualifiers.
• Candidates are ranked within their respective categories (UR, SC, ST, OBC/BC, EBC, EWS, RCG, DQ).
• Tiebreaking follows NEET UG tiebreaker rules: higher Biology marks, then higher Chemistry marks, then older age gets preference.

Tiebreaker Criteria

If two candidates have the same NEET score, BCECEB uses the following priority order to decide the rank:

• Higher marks in Biology (Botany + Zoology combined)
• Higher marks in Chemistry
• Fewer wrong answers in NEET UG
• Older candidate (earlier date of birth) gets higher rank

Downloading the UGMAC Rank Card

You can download your UGMAC 2026 rank card from the official BCECEB portal after it is released. You will need your NEET UG 2026 roll number and date of birth to log in and download the rank card. The rank card will show your UGMAC state rank, category rank, and NEET marks.

The UGMAC rank card is different from the NTA-issued NEET scorecard. Your All India NEET rank and your Bihar state UGMAC rank will be different numbers. Use the UGMAC rank card for counselling in Bihar.

Top Government Medical Colleges in Bihar (UGMAC 2026)

Bihar has 12 government medical colleges participating in UGMAC 2026. These colleges offer MBBS seats at highly subsidized fees and have been producing doctors for decades. Securing a seat in a government medical college through UGMAC is the goal of most Bihar NEET aspirants.

Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) is the oldest and most prestigious government medical college in Bihar, established in 1925. It is attached to the Patna Medical College Hospital, one of the largest public hospitals in eastern India. PMCH has the highest number of MBBS seats (200) among government colleges and the most competitive UGMAC cutoff.

Darbhanga Medical College (DMCH), established in 1946, is another heritage institution in Bihar. SKMCH (Muzaffarpur), ANMMC (Gaya), and JLNMC (Bhagalpur) are spread across different districts of Bihar, giving students options closer to their home districts.

AIIMS Patna (All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Patna), with 100 MBBS seats, is also located in Bihar but its seats are filled through the AIIMS counselling process (MCC) and are NOT part of UGMAC state quota counselling.

UGMAC 2026 Counselling Preparation Tips

UGMAC is a counselling process, not an exam. Your preparation should focus on being ready to register quickly, fill choices strategically, and verify documents without errors. Here is what you should do:

Before Registration Opens

• Get your Bihar domicile certificate ready now. This is the single most important document for UGMAC. Apply for it at your local SDO (Sub-Divisional Officer) or District Magistrate’s office well in advance. It can take 1–3 weeks to process in some districts.
• Organize all original documents. Collect your Class 10 marksheet, Class 12 marksheet, category certificate (if applicable), Aadhaar card, and income certificate (for EWS) now. Make 3–4 self-attested photocopies of each.
• Study the 2025 seat matrix and cutoffs. Download the UGMAC 2025 seat matrix from the BCECEB website to understand which colleges have seats in your category and at which NEET rank range. This will help you set realistic college targets.
• Understand the Bihar reservation categories. If you belong to EBC, BC, SC, ST, or EWS, make sure you have the correct and valid certificate. Outdated or incorrect category certificates can lead to rejection at document verification.

During Registration and Choice Filling

• Register on Day 1. Do not wait. Technical issues, server load, and the risk of missing deadlines are real. Register as soon as the portal opens.
• Fill as many choices as possible. UGMAC allows you to fill multiple college and course combinations. Fill all eligible options in your preferred order — do not leave the choice list short. A candidate with more choices has more chances of getting a seat.
• Prioritize government colleges. Government college fees are around ₹1.06 lakh per year versus ₹6–15 lakh per year in private colleges. If your NEET rank allows, government colleges are far more economical.
• Lock choices before the deadline. Do not forget to lock your choices. Choices left unlocked are auto-locked at the cutoff time, but it is risky to rely on auto-locking. Always lock manually and take a screenshot.
• Keep your mobile and email active. BCECEB sends allotment notifications and updates via SMS and email. Use the mobile number and email ID that you check regularly.

During Document Verification

• Carry all originals plus photocopies. Take original documents plus at least 3 sets of photocopies. Some colleges return originals after verification; others retain them temporarily.
• Check college reporting deadlines carefully. If you miss the reporting deadline for your allotted seat, the seat is cancelled. This deadline is strict.
• Confirm your category certificate validity. Category certificates must be valid as of the admission year. Certificates older than a year may be rejected in some cases — check BCECEB’s prospectus for the exact requirement.
