Fees and Financial Aid

Fee structure: There is a 2 years program of masters degree. The tuition fees amount about 6910 rupees per year (for OBC), 4795 rupees per year (for SC&ST). The causion deposit fee is about 700 rupees which is refundable after 2nd year, safety insurance fee is about 41 rupees per year Scholarship and assistantship (Financial support): For every student scholarship provided by the national scholarship portal (?20000 per year) For those who finished the semester's first rank, the university provides 8000 for each semester. At the end of the course, those who secure the 1st rank in whole semester papers (without backlogs) they provided a stipend for Ph.d [about 37000 per month for the first two years (JRF), then 42000 per month for next three years (SRF)] by DST - FIST.

Faculty

In every department, 15 to 20 students are admitted for every year, and the number of faculty is about 3 to 5 staff. The faculty are very knowledgeable persons and very kind to students. The exam scheme consists of two sessional tests and main end-semester examinations for each paper. For each sessional test, 30 to 40 marks were conducted and then converted into 20 marks. Totally 40 marks are calculated for the main exams through the sessional test. For end semester examinations conducted for 100 marks then converted to 60 marksheet). The final marks are computed by the combination of sessional tests and end-semester exams that you are obtained.

Ques. What are the future prospects of MSc (Hons.) Chemistry from BITS Pilani?

● Top Answer By Deepshikha Roy on 24 Mar 23

Ans. If you have completed your MSc in Chemistry and are wondering about your career prospects, there are several things to consider. Firstly, it is important to note that merely having an MSc degree does not guarantee a job. You need to have relevant skills, experience, and knowledge to land a job in the field of chemistry. Therefore, it is important to keep your expectations realistic. One of the possible career paths after an MSc in Chemistry is to become a faculty member at a coaching institute in Kota. However, this may not be a viable option for everyone, and there may be other options available depending on your specific interests and skill sets. If you are passionate about chemistry and want to further your education, you can consider pursuing a Ph.D. at a good college. A Ph.D. can provide you with specialized knowledge and expertise in a specific area of chemistry and can open up opportunities for a career in research or academia. Some other career options for MSc Chemistry graduates include: Chemical research and development: There are various industries, such as pharmaceuticals, food, and consumer goods, that require chemical research and development to create new products or improve existing ones. You can work as a research scientist in such industries or in research organizations. Quality control and analysis: Chemical analysis is essential in industries such as manufacturing and pharmaceuticals. You can work as a quality control chemist or analytical chemist in such industries. Environmental chemistry: There is a growing demand for professionals who can work towards sustainable development and environmental conservation. You can work in the field of environmental chemistry and help in developing new technologies to reduce pollution and manage waste. In conclusion, while an MSc in Chemistry may not guarantee a job, there are various career options available depending on your interests and skill sets. It is important to explore different avenues and make an informed decision about your career path.Read more

Ques. I have complete bsc in industrial chemistry, can i do msc in industrial chemsitry?

● Top Answer By Vinima Bhola on 23 Jun 25

Ans. The answer will vary depending on the particular institution and its requirements if you have earned a B.Sc. in Industrial Chemistry and would like to pursue an M.Sc. in Industrial Chemistry.  IIT Kharagpur does not, however, provide an M.Sc. programme that focuses on "Industrial Chemistry."  Instead, applicants who have finished a B.Sc. with a specific number of chemistry subjects are eligible to apply for an M.Sc. in Chemistry (and integrated M.Sc.+Ph.D. in Chemistry). Eligibility for  IIT Kharagpur’s M.Sc in Chemistry : B.Sc (Chemistry) or equivalent with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwD) from a recognized university. Candidates must have studied Mathematics at the 10+2 level. For integrated M.Sc+Ph.D. Similar criteria apply, but some programs may require a certain CGPA for progression to the Ph.D. phaseRead more
