Ques. I want to know if Lady Irwin College placement mainly focuses only on PG students or also gives UG students also get chance during campus placement time?

Ans. Placement focuses more on PG students because companies prefer higher skills and specialisation. UG student also allowed to sit, but the number of role less. Many UG students go for higher study instead job. Placement cell is open for all, but the final chance depends on the course, skill and company requirement. UG students should not fully depend on placement.

Ques. I am worried because the place number looks low. Does Lady Irwin College not support placement properly, or do students choose other career options?

Ans. The number looks low because many students choose higher studies, PhD, govt exam or research field. Not all students register for the placement cell. College provides opportunity, but participation is a choice. Also home science field is a niche area, so the placement process is slow. College support exists, but students' career plan different, so the data looks less.

Lady Irwin College Placements: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 63 Reviews

The Department of Food and Nutrition at the college has reported a successful 100% placement for its first batch of B.Tech Food Technology students in companies such as Nestle, Perfetti, Tqs Global, FRAC, and Sudha Dairy. Although the Bachelor’s program in Food Technology is newly introduced, there is a considerable focus on postgraduate placements, with graduates finding opportunities in various sectors including governmental and international agencies, food industries, hospitals, and teaching institutions.

Despite the absence of a dedicated placement cell, placements are facilitated informally by faculty members and the Head of Department through their professional contacts. A significant portion of students pursue higher studies, with many opting for master’s programs in reputed institutions like NIFTEM, BHU, and IIFT. Internships are widely encouraged, with opportunities in companies like Bikanervala, FSSAI, and Delhi Milk Scheme, although students often have to secure these independently. The college's alumni network contributes to job opportunities, but the overall job market for undergraduates, especially without further qualifications, remains challenging with salaries ranging from 10k to 40k depending on specialization and abilities.
