IIT Madras Online Degree (BS in Data Science and Application)

Likes

The best thing about this college is that its fees are low which means even a middle class person can get a good education that too from IIT Madras.
This course is an online course in which we are taught very good skills.
We study from professors of IIT Madras which is a big thing in itself.

Dislikes

The duration of many lecturers is very long.
A lot of time can be wasted in weekly summaries.

Placement Experience:

I have joined the college recently and I don't know much about placements but if we look at the old records then we will know which college has very good placement level. Many companies come to this college and provide placement to good students with very good packages.

Courses are amazing and interesting to study
Regular tests and level of assignment are up to the mark
Faculty are verry good and explains everything nicely

Dislikes

Is IITM BS degree in Data Science worth

Even though it's an online Degree, the environment is quite engaging. They divided students in 12 houses and organize many intra house competition to attain maximum participation of the students.
The flexibility, it allows us to choose how many courses one want to register according to their capability or time and even allows to pursue this any other Degree along with it.
Healthy discussion, they have a separate discussion forum where students can discuss anything either its about academics or their hobbies.

Dislikes

Teaching, teaching being a plus point sometimes fire back. No doubt faculties are one of the top faculties of India but teaching style of some faculties you might not like, everything goes above the head.
The fees might be too much for many of the students. Even though fee wavier is there but it's still too much for many students specially those who want to pursue with another degree.

Placement Experience:

Since it's a new Degree so no one have passed it yet and many working professionals are also there so its little hard to track the placement records as a student. But yes, IITM provide placement opportunites once you completed either of the Diploma. I know the actual average package but from seniors and many batchmates I heard that it's aroung 8-12LPA. But I will say placement cell of IITM is quite active for students they keep organising various workshop and sending off campus placement or intership opportunities.

Info About IITM BS

Likes

Placement by IITM is provided which will also increase in the upcoming years
It being a four year degree you can apply to gate and foreign universities

Dislikes

The course is hybrid so campus facilities are not accessible
The placement are not at par with the regular student of IITm
No startup support for bs students in incubation centre

Placement Experience:

Placement are available after completing bsc degree level while intership is available after completing Diploma level and there are good number of opportunities coming average package stays around 6-8 lpa , Moreover iit degree adds a lot of value to resume so even if you apply off campus there is a high chance of good placement

My First Internship

Likes

Knowlwdge of the subjects which I gained.
The proficiency of the faculty in the subject being taught.
Offline exams which defferentiates it from other online courses which are just money making strategies.

Dislikes

Online lectures which makes college life dull.

Very much relavent to the industry standards. Data science and ai is a niche and growing market so I choose this. The curriculum is well designed and balanced . If you put in efforts it's achievable smoothly. Areas of improvement * introducing offline lectures * more No of subjects can be introduced Frequency of exam every 4 weeks

Contents are good and graded assignment are on time
Faculty explains very well and instruction sessions are very understandable
Exam is in cbt mode you can feel like a competition exam

Dislikes

Not access the campus life as it is online
You have to complete the ga with in time
If this select the city. After warning toh can change the process but it is to much long process

Placement criteria is pretty simple and frequency of the placement is pretty good. Now you have to complete at least bsc degree to seat in the placement other wise you cannot seat after completing foundation and diploma courses

I want to become a data scientist and alumni of IIT Madras This is a online program so any one who cleared jee mains and give advanced can apply. I join the program through jee mains They provide lecture and it is awesome and conducting Live session,doubt session 3 alternate days days in a week . There is 3 terms in a year and in one term 3 exam held . Quiz 1, apquiz 2 and end term .

The experience faculty members are really great.
They make sure that students can interact with each other
They also organise annual function (paradox)

Dislikes

Sometimes it gets hard to ask doubt in the group of 70-70students
Sometimes I am not able to understand some topic when it is taught by TAs
Professors do not teach online. We are provided recorded lectures of professor

Placement Experience:

The placement of the collage is really really great infact it is no. ranked collage in India in NIRF ranking. The average placement is 15Lpa. From 7th semester you are eligible for campus placement and from 5th semester u r eligible for internship.Highest placement is 2.14cr and average placement is 15Lpa

IITMBS DEGREE A GAME CHANGER FOR EMPLOYABILITY AND EDUCATION IN NDIA

The professors are really talented and usually not available to masses but online degree is making them available to all
Degree is inspiring all sections of people to study and be called as IITians
The quality education and employability is reaching to masses in this online way of teaching

Dislikes

The professors are sometimes difficult to understand in explanation but teaching assistants help at that time
No clear mode of information for students apart from gmail
No means of connection among students to stay in touch with mates

Placement Experience:

One becomes eligible for placements once a foundation and diploma and BSc degree are completed. The placement stats and info are very limited as the degree is new so no information about it. I will prepare for cat and will go to iims for pg doing this degree just to grab a graduation degree and learn from iit madras.
