There are three types of memberships for access to the library: Internal membership is for SINP and VECC staff members while External membership is only for researchers, Academicians & Distinguished Scientists. Finally, Institutional membership is for students and all who are part of the college. The Membership Form for each of the above is available at the Library counter.

The selection is based on the candidates academic performances (weighted properly with the ranking of the current affiliation) and the statement of research. Based on these, the institution seeks letters of references for the shortlisted candidates to make the final selection.

Is there any stipend for fellow students in SINP?

Yes, for the first two years, INR 31000 is given per month, and for subsequent years, a sum of INR 35000 is provided. The fellowships are awarded for a maximum of 5 years. They are renewed yearly, subject to satisfactory performance.

Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP) Post M.Sc Admission 2024

Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP) offers a Ph.D. program or Post M.Sc in two specializations i.e. Physics and Biophysical Sciences. The admission in this course is entirely based on the merit in qualifying and the entrance examination.

Candidates seeking admission in Post M.Sc Physics must hold an M.Sc degree in Physics and appear for JEST or GATE in Physics or CSIR/UGC NET for JRF.

The minimum eligibility for admission in Post M.Sc in Biophysical Sciences is an M.Sc degree in Physics/Chemistry or Life Sciences and appear for JGEEBILS or GATE in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Physics and Chemistry examination.

JEST is a Joint Entrance Screening Test for Ph.D. programs in Physics, Theoretical Computer Science and Neuroscience. JEST application form can be filled online. The minimum eligibility to apply for this examination is an M.Sc degree in a relevant field.

National Eligibility Test (NET) is conducted by CBSE to determine the eligibility of India nationals for JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) or Assistant Professor. Key Points:

Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) conducts an entrance examination in collaboration with PGIMER for the award of Junior Research Fellowship in Life Science. The eligibility for this test is a post-graduate degree in the relevant discipline.
DBT JRF is Department of Biotechnology of India that offers JRF to the candidates. The application form is available online. The candidates have to give BET (Biotechnology Eligibility test) and based on the rank obtained, they will be selected for the fellowship.
JGEEBILS is Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences conducted by National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS). Students who have completed Master’s degree in Basic Science or Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science can take this entrance. The application form for this entrance examination is available online.
