IISER Pune : an honest review

Placement Experience:

placements are not that bad because very less students opt for it . mostly people go for a phd. but companies such as CHEGG , SHELL , ZEUS NUMERIX visited the campus . The average salary was 8 LPA . My plan is to go for higher studies.

All the professor are very brilliant and help student time to time for internship till last date and explain all the phenomenon and clear doubt by simply taking a appointment.

As there was placement in the year 2021 which is nearly 56 percent. Around 20 companies visited campus like TCS, AKASH, CIPLA etc. for placement. But most of student do not like placement becuase they have their plan about research so they do phd and post doc in their career which they think best according to their opinion. But in 2021 the avg. package was 8 lpa and each participant have 2 offer. Also the highest package is 13 lpa, which is very nice as compare. but the main reson is research that's why placement is not so higher.

Most of the students 60-70% go for PhDs abroad and in leading Indian Universities. Rest go for research-based jobs like in drug and R& D jobs. A bunch of Ph.D. students got an offer for Lakme and the highest annual CTC was 80 lakhs. Most of the students apply for internships in the 3-month summer break and from the second year, it's compulsory. They get recommendation letters from our faculty for applying to other universities in both India and abroad. A fraction of students also go to data science and work as a statistician in labs. People also get jobs in CSIR labs and DRDO as scientists and physicists. To be honest, placements are not in the IT sector and Software industry as we are not into engineering and CS.

IISER Pune: Worth the hype?

The placement opportunities are great with various companies approaching students to snap them up in fields from consultancy to software to pharmaceuticals.lots of students also end up working on labs of various professors that they have built a rapport with.

Students are eligible for sitting for summer internship programmes of iiser pune. Not many software companies visit this college for placements as most of the students of this college sit for higher studies for their PhDs or publish research articles. However a student who wishes to get a job in corporate can get an online course of computer science done and apply for off campus placements as the IISER PUNE tag value along with good skills are more than enough for you to get a high paying job.

There is no seen for placement or internship in industry or in compines. As college is more oriented toward reserch students prefer to do reserch and further studies over industry placement.

Internships Opportunities:

The college is reserch oriented and promote natural sciences, so you will not find any industry related internship . The students do reserch here and students do internship here but reserch oriented, students do internship in the college itself or go to other University like Iisc bangalore or IITs for internship. Here proffesor will guide you and help you regarding internships.

College provides you with the best facilities and course structure for the real world applications and it's up to the person how he performs in exams and his cgpa accordingly he can apply inside and outside the campus for internship. Most of the internships are payed and some of them aren't.

We get a three month summer break which can be utilised by doing a summer project under the choice of your professor but only when the prof allows. Also you are allowed to avail intership across the country and world.

IISER Pune placements 2022 concluded and according to the NIRF report 2023, a total of 13 students were placed out of the 152 graduating students, during the 2022 placement drive. Around 54 students choose to pursue higher studies. IISER Pune median package stood at INR 11.40 LPA. Some of the prominent recruiters of the institute are Harvard University, University of Geneva, Princeton University, University of Michigan, University of Cambridge, etc.
