KMC MD Radiology FAQs

Ques. What is the NEET PG closing rank for MD Radiology at KMC Warangal?

Ans. MD Radiology at KMC Warangal is among the most competitive seats in NEET PG. The closing rank (All India Quota, General category) was approximately 1,132 in 2025 and 1,847 in 2024. This means only candidates with a NEET PG rank within the top 1,000-2,000 nationally can realistically secure this seat through the AIQ. State Quota seats at KMC Warangal are filled through KNRUHS counselling and are equally competitive for Telangana domicile candidates.

Ques. What is the career scope and salary after MD Radiology from KMC Warangal?

Ans. MD Radiology offers one of the best career trajectories in Indian medicine. Fresh MD Radiology graduates earn Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 1.5 lakhs per month in hospital employment. Experienced radiologists in private practice or senior hospital positions earn Rs. 30-90 lakhs per annum. Interventional radiologists can earn Rs. 1 crore or more annually. The teleradiology sector offers additional income opportunities, with radiologists able to report scans remotely. The rise of AI-assisted radiology is creating new roles rather than replacing radiologists, further strengthening long-term prospects.

Ques. What is the monthly stipend for MD Radiology students at KMC Warangal?

Ans. PG students at KMC Warangal receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 58,289 as per the Government of Telangana's revised stipend structure effective January 2025. This stipend is paid throughout the 3-year course duration. Given that the total course fee is only Rs. 70,000 for 3 years, the stipend more than covers all expenses, making a government MD Radiology seat at KMC Warangal exceptionally financially advantageous compared to private college seats costing Rs. 50 lakhs to Rs. 1 crore.

Ques. Is there a bond obligation after completing MD Radiology at KMC Warangal?

Ans. Yes. All non-service PG Degree candidates admitted through KNRUHS must execute a bond of Rs. 20,00,000 at the time of admission, obligating them to serve the Government of Telangana for 1 year after completion of the course. If a candidate discontinues the course after the last date for free exit, a penalty of Rs. 50,00,000 is applicable. This is a standard requirement for all government medical college PG admissions in Telangana.

Ques. How much does it cost to set up a private radiology practice after MD Radiology?

Ans. Setting up a private radiology practice requires significant capital investment. A basic digital X-ray and ultrasound setup costs Rs. 20-40 lakhs. Adding a CT scanner costs Rs. 1-3 crores, and an MRI machine costs Rs. 3-8 crores. Many fresh MD Radiology graduates therefore start by working in established hospitals or diagnostic centres to build experience and capital before setting up independently. Teleradiology is a lower-cost entry point, requiring only a high-speed internet connection and reporting workstation. Partnerships with existing diagnostic centres are also a common route.

Ques. Is MD Radiology at a government college like KMC Warangal better than a private college for training?

Ans. Yes, in most cases. Government medical colleges like KMC Warangal have large attached hospitals with high patient volumes and diverse case mix, providing exposure to a wide variety of imaging studies including trauma, oncology, and emergency cases. The training quality in terms of case exposure is generally superior to smaller private colleges. Additionally, the cost difference is enormous: Rs. 70,000 total at KMC Warangal versus Rs. 50 lakhs to Rs. 1 crore at private colleges. The bond obligation of 1 year of government service is a minor consideration given these advantages.
