The Bachelor of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (BASLP) program requires students to have a science background in their 12th grade. Admission involves a common entrance test conducted at various centers in India, with selection based on a merit list. This 4-year program is offered by a central government institute serving individuals with speech and hearing disabilities, followed by options for a 2-year Master's and a 3-year PhD. The faculty-to-student ratio is 1:10, with experienced staff assisting students with clinical assessments and assignments.
The course includes 6 semesters with 29 papers, considered moderately difficult, especially in audio and speech papers. Tuition fees have increased from 20,250 INR in 2020 to about 30,000 INR per year, with SC/ST students paying approximately 19,000 INR. The college offers scholarships, free books, and laptops for SC/ST students, and has a feasible fee structure: day scholars pay 15,000 INR per year, hostellers 35,000 INR, with additional academic fees around 21,000 INR.
Students receive a 7,000 INR monthly internship allowance, increased to 7,000-12,000 INR during a mandatory 10-month internship. Despite limited campus recruitment, 100% placement is achieved, facilitated by state and central job vacancies, with 75% of students securing jobs at an average starting salary of INR 35,000 to INR 50,000. The college also offers B.Ed and M.Ed courses in special education and has a strong focus on practical skills in audiology and speech-language pathology.
