Ans. Yes, students from outside Maharashtra can apply for Mumbai University Admission 2026. However, students from states outside Maharashtra are required to obtain an ‘Eligibility Certificate’ for admission to various programs.
Ques. What is an ‘Eligibility Certificate’ required for admission to the University of Mumbai?
Ans. An ‘Eligibility Certificate’ is a mandatory document for students who are coming from other boards, universities, or countries and are seeking admission to colleges affiliated with the University of Mumbai.
The eligibility form are provided free of cost but at the time of submission of form, the Eligibility Fee and form fee will be accepted by DD/ Cash only. Students outside of the Maharashtra State are required to pay an eligibility fee of Rs. 320 (this includes Rs. 300 as the eligibility fee and Rs. 30 as the form fee). Only one course can be mentioned per form. For additional courses, a separate form and fee is required.
A student can apply for an Eligibility Certificate in any college affiliated to the University of Mumbai where he/ she wishes to take admission. Students should submit attested photocopies of Class 12th Marksheet, all 3/ 4 Years Statement of Marks (if applicable), Degree Certificate, CET score card, allotment letter, Caste Certificate, Experience Certificate whichever is applicable.
The DD is to be submitted in favour of the ‘Finance & Accounts Officer, University of Mumbai’. Once the application has been procesed and verified the Eligibility Certificate will be prepared within 2/3 days. The colleges will send their representative to collect Eligibility Certificates and distribute the same to the students.
