Mumbai University Admission FAQs

Ques. Where can I apply for admission to the University of Mumbai?

Ans. Candidates must apply to Mumbai University only through the official university online portal. For UG and PG courses under the NEP system, students apply on the Samarth e-Gov portal. Towards the Non-NEP courses, applications are taken on the Digital University portal. The main admission page of Mumbai University assists students in finding both links. The main reasoning for asking students to only submit applications through those links will prevent student errors and assist university admission staff in keeping the process running smoothly.

Ques. What is the admission timeline?

Ans. Admission to Mumbai University usually starts in May and June for UG courses, and in July or August for PG courses. The admissions schedule comes out each year and has specific registration dates, merit list announcing dates, and counselling rounds. Students should check the university admission portal often to make sure they don't miss any deadline dates as they can change if an extension is announced.

Question: Is it possible to apply to multiple courses or colleges?

Ans. The admission process is completely centralised, and students can apply to different courses and colleges simultaneously. This provides them with resources and increases the odds of receiving one or more admissions. Once students apply, they are asked to wait for a merit list to be generated. Once the merit list is generated, students can then check the list and their options for admissions and confirm their seat from the various options available at that time and within the specified deadline for admissions.

Question: How does the merit list get prepared?

Ans. The merit list is curated from a variety of sources at Mumbai University, but it is mainly based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination, like Class 12 for graduation courses or graduation marks for Postgraduate programs. Each college and each course will set its own cut-off percentage based on the total applications received. This information will then be completely assigned to the merit list and uploaded onto the university's admission site, but also each college will put up a merit list on their individual sites. Students can check this site and merit listings to determine their options as they move through the admission process.

AI-Generated Summary based on 1621 Reviews

The Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Aeronautical Science at Mumbai University has a diverse admission process, primarily based on the 12th-grade merit list. Some students mention that entrance exams like MHT-CET or standardized tests such as the SAT or ACT might be required, with high cut-offs reflecting the college's reputation. Typically, candidates with 75% or higher in their board exams are eligible across different colleges. The admission process involves multiple merit rounds, and students must submit applications and transcripts.

Although online applications are available, offline procedures are also common. The admission process can be time-consuming, sometimes involving long waiting periods for acceptance decisions, which some students find stressful. The application process might also require fees, both in cash and cheque. Mumbai University is preferred due to its renowned faculty, facilities, and proximity for many students. It offers a good cultural environment and is perceived as affordable compared to other institutions, presenting alternatives to donation-based admissions.

The name and reputation of the university attract attention from big companies, potentially providing internship opportunities. While the process can be cumbersome, the overall appeal due to its valued credentials remains significant.

1. First of all I got the Thadomal shahani college of engineering but I didn't took the admission in this college because I want to wait till the last round of CAP process. 2. Further I got the betterment i.e.AIML in DJ sanghvi college, which is good in placements as compared to Thadomal shahani college Of engineering, also the environment of study is too good in DJ sanghvi college. 3.There are two ways to take the admission in DJ sanghvi college, first through JEE MAINS and second through MHT CET. Students those who are stays in Maharashtra are mostly prefer MHT CET exam. The cutoff for Computer Engineering in this college is above 99+ percentile in MHT CET or 97-98 percentile in JEE MAINS. 4. DJ sanghvi college is an autonomous college. It is Gujarat minority college, means in this college category(OBC, SC,ST,etc) seats are not reserved but the students lie in any of the category then they can take the benefit of their category, like in cutoff, in fees, etc.

Admission:

I chose to perceive my B.com degree at Mulund College of Commerce because of its strong reputation, disciplined environment and modern autonomous curriculum. Before taking admission here I was in k j somaiya for 11th and 12th but chose MCC as my degree college because it was closer to my home, had a better academic atmosphere and offered a more skill oriented syllabus after becoming autonomous. Compared to other colleges MCC stands out for its updated course structure experienced faculty and focus on practical learning. The admission process at mcc straight forward and completely online after registering on the University of Mumbai portal, students have to fill out the college administration form on the MCC website and upload necessary documents. Admission is based purely on merit of class 12th percentage - no entrance exam is required for B.com. The cutoff for open category is usually around 80- 85%, though it varies slightly every year. My overall admission experience was smooth and the staff was helpful throughout the verification and payments process.

Student Snaps:

Admission:

Mithibai has great placement opportunity as there are big companies that comes for campus placement like KPMG, DELOITTE, JP MORGAN and EY. So it can give great start to students in corporate world. This is one of the reasons I chose mithibai over other colleges. Also there are so many clubs that I can be a part of to form connections, gather ideas and build leadership skills. I also applied to NMIMS, DU and I got admission there. Reason for not choosing was simple that the opportunities for me were more at Mithibai than any other college and it was a great decision overall. Admission process was all online that makes it convenient for outstation students like me. Cut off for BMS is relatively higher than other self financed courses.

i think that admission process of my college goes in stages. filling the form, appearing for interviews, waiting to get shortlisted, and waiting for months. then finally getting a call for admission and counselling. CAT,CMAT, XATare few exams that my college accepts. students prefer to go through CMAT. There are different cutoffs foor these exams but in my opinion it is hardly getting followed. I got call from K.J Somaiya, Mumbai. i also appeared for SRCC, Delhi interview round. I also got call from XIME, Bangalore.
