The admissions process is usually based on merit, and many of the programs are admissions-based on entrance exams(such as MHT-CET, JEE Main, GATE). Mumbai University Admission FAQs

Ques. Where can I apply for admission to the University of Mumbai?

Ans. Candidates must apply to Mumbai University only through the official university online portal. For UG and PG courses under the NEP system, students apply on the Samarth e-Gov portal. Towards the Non-NEP courses, applications are taken on the Digital University portal. The main admission page of Mumbai University assists students in finding both links. The main reasoning for asking students to only submit applications through those links will prevent student errors and assist university admission staff in keeping the process running smoothly.

Ques. What is the admission timeline?

Ans. Admission to Mumbai University usually starts in May and June for UG courses, and in July or August for PG courses. The admissions schedule comes out each year and has specific registration dates, merit list announcing dates, and counselling rounds. Students should check the university admission portal often to make sure they don't miss any deadline dates as they can change if an extension is announced.

Question: Is it possible to apply to multiple courses or colleges?

Ans. The admission process is completely centralised, and students can apply to different courses and colleges simultaneously. This provides them with resources and increases the odds of receiving one or more admissions. Once students apply, they are asked to wait for a merit list to be generated. Once the merit list is generated, students can then check the list and their options for admissions and confirm their seat from the various options available at that time and within the specified deadline for admissions.

Question: How does the merit list get prepared?

Ans. The merit list is curated from a variety of sources at Mumbai University, but it is mainly based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination, like Class 12 for graduation courses or graduation marks for Postgraduate programs. Each college and each course will set its own cut-off percentage based on the total applications received. This information will then be completely assigned to the merit list and uploaded onto the university's admission site, but also each college will put up a merit list on their individual sites. Students can check this site and merit listings to determine their options as they move through the admission process.

AI-Generated Summary based on 1628 Reviews

The Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Aeronautical Science at Mumbai University has a diverse admission process, primarily based on the 12th-grade merit list. Some students mention that entrance exams like MHT-CET or standardized tests such as the SAT or ACT might be required, with high cut-offs reflecting the college's reputation. Typically, candidates with 75% or higher in their board exams are eligible across different colleges. The admission process involves multiple merit rounds, and students must submit applications and transcripts.

Although online applications are available, offline procedures are also common. The admission process can be time-consuming, sometimes involving long waiting periods for acceptance decisions, which some students find stressful. The application process might also require fees, both in cash and cheque. Mumbai University is preferred due to its renowned faculty, facilities, and proximity for many students. It offers a good cultural environment and is perceived as affordable compared to other institutions, presenting alternatives to donation-based admissions.

The name and reputation of the university attract attention from big companies, potentially providing internship opportunities. While the process can be cumbersome, the overall appeal due to its valued credentials remains significant.

Better placement than many options. Decent balance of cost and value. Good labs and campus facilities. Active clubs and tech events. Location is easy to reach daily. Overall environment felt practical. Did not get top tier colleges. Cutoff was higher than my score. Some seats filled before counseling. Late choice filling reduced chances. Needed a reliable backup option. This college offered confirmed seat. Admission process was simple online. Based on entrance exam rank. Documents verified during reporting. Fee payment confirmed the seat. No donation or interview required. Process was smooth and transparent.

For BMS CET is mandatory and a good piece of scores are required. No one can be in real trouble here once the scores are as per the required cut-offs. Around 240 seats are there in BMS but Hinduja being the top 10 ranked college, students have to be in top 2000 rankers to get admission in BMS here.

Admission was on 12th score as cut-off for Maharashtra board students was 78% and for other boards if from Maharashtra it was 84%. For OMS (Outside Maharashtra) it was 88%. I have taken admission in this college on the basis mht-cet enterance exam score . i have applied to multiple colleges through mht-cet counselling this college was one of them. The mht-cet counselling was having three rounds in the 2024 but one additional round was also conducted. In first round i was alloted the A.C Patil College of Engineering, Kharghar but it was more far from my home so i didt take admission in that college. In second round i was alloted to the Shree L.R.Tiwari College of Engineering it was also to far from my home but the main reason to not take admission in this college was that this college fees was affordable to me. and in the third round this college was alloted to me so this was my last option so i have taken admission in this college. the admission is conducted by the cet cell of maharashtra. the eligiblity is that we should have minimum 45% in your class 12th and should have an non-zero score in the mht-cet enterance exam.the most preferred course of the students are computer engineering, artificial intelligence and data science,Electronics and computer science
