How good is UIET Chandigarh?

Alumni say that while UIET Chandigarh may not be the best, it is a fairly good institution. It has been developing decently over the past years. It is backed by some good faculty, decent placement record, the stature of being an engineering department of world famous university i.e. Panjab University. CSE and IT being the most demanded job fields, enjoy the status of being the best branches of the college. Various companies like Infosys, Gemini Solutions, Unisys, AlertEnterprise, Deloitte, ZS Associates, ZScaler, Goldman Sachs, Adobe, KPMG, MuSigma, Aricent etc have been visiting the campus for placements.

What are some cons of studying at UIET Chandigarh?

If you are looking for class room studies then teachers here are not good. They all maybe scholars or have cleared the GATE exam twice or thrice, but they don't know how to teach.I think there is a lack of conversation and interactions between seniors and juniors because all live in separate hostels and hostels are given on the basis of rank. One good thing which comes from the above is that you get a lot of free time to prepare for competitive exams as we need only 75% attendance. If one does not have 75% attendance, the student party will compel the authorities to make students having 35% attendance also sit for the exams. Lab practicals are limited to courses which in some cases are very outdated as compared to the latest technology available. Lack of good faculty/teachers for some subjects which are very interesting like Artificial intelligence.

How are the CSE placements at UIET Chandigarh?

If candidates want a comfortable IT job at an MNC, the CSE department may be an ideal choice to secure one without much difficulty and almost everyone eligible in that department receives at least an INR 33.5 LPA package with ease. However, for those seeking greater returns on investment, more effort may be required. Jobs offering salaries of INR 47 LPA are still accessible but will demand at least some dedication on candidates' part.

How are the mechanical placements at UIET Chandigarh?

Coming to the placement of mechanical engineering in UIET, there hasnt been any notable surge. Instead, Mechanical and Biotechnology remain among the least placed branches of the college.

my college: pros and cons

Likes

the teaching staff is well qualified and the way of explaining the concepts is appreciable.
there is a well managed library and the librarians are all very cooperative.
there are many clubs( societies: example debsoc, SAE for coding, autonomy, photography, social welfare , bhangra etc) that help in personal development and increase interaction with others . this also improves our communication skills.

Dislikes

the girls to boys ratio is quite low, the most negative aspect of any engineering college. in our class we have only 10 girls and 50 boys approximately
the infrastructure is not very appreciable and there is nothing much to explore in the college campus which makes life at college a bit boring. also the college has a very small campus.
less companies come for recruitment in core jobs of that particular course.

Placement Experience:

the placements are offered for CSE ANDD IT related branches at a large extent. the core placements for all other branches are very less or negligible. the students become eligible for campus placements after the completion of fourth year only. companies such as cisco, servicenow, kpmg and zs associates etc have visited and over 300 students git campus selection.the highest package is of 40 lakh and average is of 7 lakh.

Life at Panjab University

Likes

Student who are eager for there startup gets better chance
Campus life is best students get chance to interact with different departments students
Students politics is major highlight cause it helps one to understand there voting right and value of one vote

Dislikes

Can be seprate hostel for each departments
There is no such bad thing that I came across then monkeys in University campus near hostels
No shop is open in University after 9 pm

Talking about internship opportunity within University then our institute have DIC and PUtech dipartment for this they work in field of enovation providing students platform for research and enovation talking about my self I got chance to work on developing a three axis CNC machine under a specific budget and my friend is still working on developing scanner for hospital doctors to scan facture bones to make there implants he closely work with PGI Chandigarh

Likes

All are friendly. There is no ragging in college or hostels
It is in Chandigarh, so you can visit many places.
Great Alumini network, all alumini are in famous companies.

Dislikes

Only some students are able to get hostels.

Placement Experience:

In 7th sem companies started to visit our college and in 8th sem placed students go for internship in their placed companies. Till now IT branch got most oncampus placement then CSE. Highest is always above 50LPA and avg. is approx 10LPA.

Peer group is good out there. Seniors are very helpful and quite approachable as well.
Uiet building is situation in Panjab University campus which is a plus point as you can explore campus.
Labs are very quipped and teachers are also approachable as well

Since I am in the first year of my college, I don't have much idea about the internships in our college. Although there is design innovation centre which is situated in the campus where students can approach the professors there and can indulge in the projects and further can do internships in the centre as well. One of my seniors got internship in Goldman & sachs which is a very good company.

The Panjab University campus is very vast and beautiful. It is a very good place for social interaction. Also it is very close to Pgi amd different markets . So life is very good amd chill here .
Teachers and professors are very helping and supporting. Most of them help you with your problems .
Scope for overall development including different sports and clubs . It leads to personality development and leadership skills . Placement is also good .

Dislikes

All the branches do not have good placement record . If you want to get placed , make sure to get a good branch like it , cse or ece .
Girl is to boy ratio is not that good in college . In university, the ratio is very gud and balanced but uiet do not have good ratio
There is no such thing as senior and junior interaction in college . Seniors will only approach you during election time or if you are a part of amy club . If you want general senior junior interaction, very few seniors are helpful.

Placement Experience:

Placement are good , not very best . The average package here is 7 to 8 lakh . If you are in tech branches you might get a higher package. Many companies visit the campus . The highest package here is around 45 lakh . Most of the highpackagejobs are off campus . Students also prepare for gate and other competative exams

Campus is beautiful, labs are good, infrastructure is good
Various clubs are also here for social interaction. In my batch boys to girl ratio in 13:1
Placements are very good 80-90% . Various MNCs visit here every year

Dislikes

The EEE branch of this college is worst, faculties are quite egoistic, a huge no of students fail in each semester, but not in another branches. Avg cg of eee students is 6 but in another branches it is 9
Engagement with life is good all branches instead of EEE.
No personal development programmes organised by college

Placement Experience:

After 6th sem companies start visiting the campus. In 2023, 85 companies visited but this time the no. is double. Amex kpmg delloite paytm zs associates etc visits here. Highest on campus placement is 20lpa and average package is 6-7 lpa. 80-90% are placed every year rest are EEE MECH and BIOTECH students. My plan is Gate exam after degree

I liked the campus location in which it is located in .main Chandigarh
The roads and the connectivity is very good here. You can always travel by any means here.
The campus is 500 acre the lush green campus

Dislikes

Most of the teachers don't have adequate knowledge to teach
In mechanical section female ratio is very low
Teachers do not teach properly here. No practical way to understand theory.

Placement Experience:

College placement is above average. Students start to get placed in 7th semester. In order to get a good placement you CG should be above 7. You should have worked in a various projects. Your communication skills has to be good. The high placement offered is 42 lakh of campus. And 25 lacs on campus nearly 70% of students get placed.

The faculty is highly experienced and supportive.
The Panjab University library boasts an impressive catalogue of books.

Dislikes

The infrastructure is lacking compared to the private universities.
Coding culture is worse compared to IITs/NITs

Placement Experience:

Placements are decent. Most CSE and IT students get placed at 7+ LPA CTC. Highest package is around 20 LPA. For CSE and IT branches, the median package is around 7 LPA, and average package is slightly higher than that, around 9 - 10 LPA.

There's no issue of attendance you can have a minimum of 10% attendance after this you can give final exam without any obligation
The dance and drama club these are the most reputed clubs of our college
There's no timing for both boys and girls hostel you can hangout with your friends whenever you want no one will raise any issue

Dislikes

There's no relative marking absolute marking is there so you have to score more to maintain your cgpa
Mess food is not that good you have to either order it from Zomato or swiggy
There's too many dogs which can harm you at night so Beawar of them

Internships Opportunities:

For tech nerdys we have DIC lab. For those who are not in tech that much you can go to MDART lab which is a government funded lab. Or there's startup too like uniqus, parkyee and D&W TECH so you will have enough opportunity to do intership
