Likes

Our classrooms are well maintained, also have a smart board which makes easy it easy to understand.
Scholarships are provided on highly excelling percentages or cgpa to the respective students.
There are campus placements for the students. various companies like big4, tcs , and many other companies are there for placement.

Dislikes

Classrooms are fine but the canteen is very poor, and other rooms like the common room, and gym room is always locked and poor.
There are many fake notices, circulars which spread like fire and made it all difficult and confusing for the students.
We had to take combine classes with other section. it was so chaotic untill the students were settled in their places

Shikshayatan pros and cons

The placement drive is held regularly during the final year. The classes are held regularly and the professors are very helpful and friendly. If one attends classes on a regular basis then all doubts will be cleared.
The college building has air conditioning in all the classrooms, library, labs and cafeteria. Best thing about the college is it’s beautiful and peaceful library.
You can find various books in the library and it has a personal lab as well where you can do your own research and save your work as well. The campus is surrounded with many small knick knack snack shops and cafes where students can hang out.

Dislikes

The campus or garden of the college is not open for morning students which does not allow the morning students to enjoy their campus life.
I do believe that the internship opportunities could be better which is why our college is lacking behind in case of internships.

Placement Experience:

From the 2nd year itself campus placement drives starts and companies start coming to college with their job offers. The average salary is around 20000 per month and maximum is around 35000 per month. It also depends on your overall performance and results. Good enough if you can bag a good placement around 30000 by being consistent with semester grades

Inside Out : Shri Shikshayatan College

Firstly, it is one of the best colleges under the affiliation of University of Calcutta with very good faculty in my course.
The infrastructure is very comfortable and the ambience is very calm and soothing with very helpful professors and HOD s which really helps to excel

Dislikes

There is not college fest or annual fests held in this institute.
The food in the canteen is kinda overpriced compared to its taste.
Since its an all-girls institute,the exposure to socialization is not that happening.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is well enough except for the scheduling of semester exams.Most of the times it gets postponed which kinda puts the candidates in a very uncertain stage.The amount of theoretical and practical exposure in the course is very well balanced along with vast opportunities of internships.

Campus Life at Shri Shikshayatan College

Likes

Professors are very supportive and are ready to help you whenever you have a doubt from day one to the end of the semester.
As it's a girls college,environment is very disciplined and safe.
Classrooms are well equipped with projectors, mic and AC.

Dislikes

Campus is litte smaller as compared to other colleges.
Canteen food can be fixed to a reasonable rate

Course Curriculum Overview:

As i want to pursue Masters of Business Administration in future,i chose to do Bachelors for the same. I have interest towards business. Under the specialization, it has Finance and Marketing. The interval between 2 semesters is sometime very short due to which faculties rush to complete syllabus before the exams so that we get ample time to prepare for the exam.

professional learning experience and everything is taught in depth
a room for every activity is available. n number of clubs are available to join in
teachers are very supportive and helpful

Dislikes

no campus life. you cannot go anywhere in the campus during your recess. library, common room and canteen opens after 10.
no fests are held as of now. departmental events are there.

Course Curriculum Overview:

as I belong to the commerce background, I chose bcom honours to keep my options open and pursue any course I wish to. some of the teachers do teach really well and explain us line to line with real life examples. I think that is the best thing one can do to improve understanding.

My College Experience Review

Likes

College Faculty is very good, teachers properly teach in class & solves every doubt of students
Overall Infrastructure of the college is well maintained
Many activities & clubs are there for students for there development

Dislikes

Receptionist dont respond to call & msgs of students timely
Water cooler must be there in every floors
Using lift is not allowed for students this is unfair why only teachers can use it, we are also college students only

Placement Experience:

From last semester students are eligible for placements 20% students getting placed after college My future plans is to complete my CS then will be doing job.. And I have not offered any placement from college

The decorum of the college and the way teachers support all the students irrespective of their grades. The campus is well maintained and neat. The concerned authorities are quite accessible.Overall the environment is good.

Dislikes

One thing that the college lacks is a good workforce in the canteen as it takes a lot of time to get a coffee at the canteen which makes it intolerable to wait for so long. The campus is not accessible to students before 2 to college students
Which is one thing I disliked. But overall its a good college

Course Curriculum Overview:

It's an interesting course providing a wide spectrum of commerce and various other fields. Subjects like accounts, entrepreneurship development are quite useful in the real world as well. Great course.

I wanted to pursue b.com hons from the very starting. Also i came to know that the b.com department of Shri Shikshayatan College is the very best if you want to study in a college where you can easily get into and also the fees is minimal then Shikshayatan College is the best choice for you. I think the teaching methods of teachers are quite good, they are all experienced in their teaching subjects and it will also help you a lot. To be honest Calcutta University exams are quite easy, one can easily score great marks if they put little efforts.

This college may not have a huge campus but it is well maintained and have clean washrooms, with effective amd functional classroom with a good stocked library
the teachers from BBA department are very cooperative and patient and helpful. You can trust them to help you on any academic matter

Dislikes

doesn't have any fest as you may expect from a college but nevertheless they hold few occasional events that are fun to participate in

Being a NEP 2023 batch, its hard to comprehend how to write answers and how to study. Studying in college, writing answers, is a very different experience than what we went through in school and since we are the new batch of students with new sort of rules, it is hard to grasp the apt way we need to prepare for the exams and without the any guidance from the past years papers (since our question paper pattern has been restructured). However, the teachers are very helpful, they have been trying their best to prepare us for the exams and the real world. The curriculum doesn't really matches with a vocational degree's need

My overall experience

Likes

There are campus placements for the students. Various companies like Big4, TCS , and many other companies are there for placement.
The campus atmosphere is awesome. There is swimming pool canteen.
The teachers and staff are very cooperative and friendly with the students

Dislikes

We cannot take books our own books in library.
Not many events are conducted in our college. No fest also has been conducted during my graduation period

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course chosen by me is Bcom Hons. The reason behind choosing this course is that I am from a commerce background and am also preparing for professional course CA. The college provides us with various courses and one of them is BCom Hons. The teachers gives a good depth knowledge of the subjects offered in BCOM hons. Internals of 10 marks are conducted by the college before one month of the exams and projects are also given.

Teaching, tho it's a girls college and it doesnot conduct events like others but I can say in terms of teaching I'm pretty satisfied. Most of the teachers are highly knowledgeable and clear all your doubts regarding the subject.
Not compulsory attendance, as others colleges my college doesn't have compulsory attendance. I know most of my friends who were doing CA and didn't came college often due to their classes. Teachers never force them to maintain their attendance.
Canteen, it was pretty nice. I don't eat often in canteen but sometimes we have so many classes so in case of that I can go eat some pretty good food at affordable prices. But yeah as I say I didn't try much so I only like the sandwich and Maggie.

Dislikes

Events, one of the main thing I miss in my college is that it don't conduct events. They told us that they will conduct events like concerts and more but sadly we didn't say anything sign of concert or any events in my three year college life.
Campus. On this one I can say it's not the college fault as most of the colleges of Kolkata doesn't have much space. But yeah it would be nice if we have a beautiful campus like other colleges so we can chill there in our break time.
Library. I don't like the rule of our library. You can take ur own books to study in library, u have to choose books available in there in order to study and the worst part is most of their books are issued by other students. So overall it's a waste.

Since I'm a commerce student the first course came in my mind was getting bachelor's degree in commerce before any professional degree. I have searched for the best place for commerce student and the first thing Google suggested was Kolkata. So I searched for some colleges which doesn't have high fees and then this college came up . There were other colleges too but since it was pretty famous in Kolkata. I decided to take admission in Shri Shikshayatan college. Apart from this the teachers here are nice. So I never face any difficulties in my studies. And yeah one thing if u are planning to join this college for studies you shouldn't miss your classes. As I say most of the students don't go to college even me too I didn't had full attendence but I always try to not miss the classes of certain subjects. And if u want to take admission to have a fun college life. Then sorry this is not the one. I wish my college also provide such fun college events.
