Are internships provided to students?

Kashi Institute of Technology (KIT) offers internships to students as part of their professional and academic progress. Is lateral entry available for diploma holders?

Kashi Institute of Technology (KIT), Varanasi, has lateral entry admissions to the second year of B.Tech courses for diploma holders. To get admission in lateral entry, the candidates must have a 3-year diploma in engineering or a B.Sc. from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks and are eligible to apply. Admissions are mostly on the basis of rank of the candidate in the concerned entrance tests, i.e., the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) or other entrance tests. Where there is vacant seating during counselling sessions, the institute can choose to fill seats through direct admissions on merit, taking into consideration candidates who have qualified for the minimum eligibility criteria, which entails obtaining at least 45% marks (40% for SC/ST candidates) in the entrance test. This route enables the holders of diplomas to upgrade their studies and gain a B.Tech degree in their area of engineering interest.

Are placement opportunities available for all branches?

Yes, placement opportunities are present for all branches in Kashi Institute of Technology (KIT), Varanasi. The Training and Placement Cell of the institute provides placement drives and career opportunities to students from different departments, such as Computer Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Electronics & Communication Engineering. KIT has a centralised placement mechanism with an equal opportunity for students of all courses and branches. The placement cell conducts campus recruitment drives, internships, and training sessions to prepare the students for the job market. The best recruiters like TCS, Wipro, HCL, Infosys, Genpact, and more have been involved in the placement process, providing opportunities in both core and non-core areas. This open-access policy provides a chance to students from all branches to get placed in esteemed organisations

Can a student get more than one job offer?

A student can get more than one job offer through multiple companies but under certain conditions, as mentioned in the placement policy of the institute. But KIT also follows a "One Student, One Job" policy as a rule to provide equal opportunity placement for other students to make it fair. For example, students from core branches of engineering (like Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Electronics) who get selected in a company that is not core (like an IT organisation) are allowed to keep attending placement drives of core companies until they receive an offer in their own core area. Also, if a student is offered a job and later becomes eligible for a "Dream Offer", meaning one that pays more than two times the compensation package of the original one, they can accept the better-paying job. Such provisions are made to maintain equity in the placement process while respecting students' desires for occupations closely related to their area of study or better-paying ones.

Are internships counted as part of the placement record?

Internships are seen to be an integral part of the academic and career growth process in Kashi Institute of Technology (KIT), Varanasi, but are generally not accounted for in the placement statistics. The Corporate Relations Centre (CRC) of the institute itself actively arranges for internship opportunities for the students, particularly post-third-year completion for B.Tech students and second-semester completion for MBA students.
