Heritage Institute of Technology Faculties : Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 612 Reviews

The faculty at this college demonstrates a diverse range of qualifications and expertise, with most holding M.Tech degrees and several possessing PhDs. The faculty-to-student ratio is notably favorable, around 1:15, facilitating personalized attention and interactive learning. The Computer Science and IT departments have particularly experienced and knowledgeable faculty, while other departments like mechanical, chemical, and electrical engineering reportedly require more seasoned faculty members. Many faculty members engage in ongoing research, contributing to the academic environment.

The standard of teaching is generally high, though some faculty members lack industry experience and communication skills in English or Hindi. Faculty members are approachable, supportive, and often involved in guiding innovative projects. However, some students have noted partiality towards Bengali students and a reliance on traditional teaching methods. Despite these concerns, the overall educational environment is supported by a strong faculty foundation, with many faculty members being alumni of prestigious institutions like IITs and Jadavpur University.

Heritage Institute of Technology: 4 Answered Questions

How are the professors of Heritage Institute of Technology at aeie Department?

Sapna Malik
Ilina GhoshB.Tech Applied Electronics & Instrumentation,Heritage Institute of Technology,Kolkata (2017)

The faculty members are really helpful and a senior of mine is still in contact with them even after graduating from college. The faculties of Heritage Institute of Technology at AEIE (Applied Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering) department are overall average while some are below average too.

  • Prof. Samuil Alam is regarded as the best one in Heritage. He is a professor of Microprocessors and microcontrollers. He is very regular and punctual with his classes.
  • S. Bagchi was Head of the Department of Instrumentation and Control. He teaches the advanced level for the same subject and knows everything about Instrumentation and control. He is also an accomplished researcher.
  • Prof SMC is good too and puts a lot of time and hard work into his teachings.
  • Prof SKD is a good teacher for Communication theory as well as practical. He is a great teacher and has a Ph.D. in communication.
  • Prof Debjyoti Chowdhury is regarded as the 2nd best teacher after Prof Samuil Alam. He is well known for helping students with their projects in the final year. He works on interesting topics such as self-driving cars and smart fitness trackers.

Some teachers like Prof AKB, DMG are not liked by all due to their rude nature although both of them are highly qualified and accomplished researchers. Thus, the faculty is a mixture of good and average members.

Who are the best professors at Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata?

Nimisha SiromaniB.Tech Computer Science and Engineering,Heritage Institute of Technology,Kolkata (2020)

HIT is among the top engineering colleges in West Bengal, affiliated with MAUKAT. The institute is awarded as the Most Preferred Engineering Institute of 2020.

One of my friends, an alumnus of the college, reviewed that the faculty is excellent. They are highly qualified and carry ample industry experience. Most of them are doctorates and well-known in their field of study.

At his time, the discussions about the facility happened in Macha, the cafeteria of the college. The best professor that he was under was Mr. Nirmaan Ganguly (NG sir). He was the best among all the other professors. Apart from him, the others include Mr. Amitava Hatilal of the electrical department and Mr. Parth sir in the computer science department.

These were the few teachers from the past whom he could recall even after five years of graduating.

What are the ECE department professors like at the Heritage Institute of Technology?

Sandip DasguptaBachelor of Technology Electronics and Communication Engineering ,Heritage Institute of Technology,Kolkata

One of my friends is an alumnus of the ECE department at Heritage Institute of Technology. Here is what he had to say about the faculties of the department.

Dr. Prabir Banerjee, Dr. Anindya Sen, Dr. Sambhu Nath Biswas, Dr. Sayantan Dhar, Dr. Shounak Dasgupta, Dr. Srabanti Pandit, Dr. Kasturi Mukherjee, Dr. Mousiki Kar, and Dr. Soumyo Chatterjee are all excellent mentors if you wish to go into the field of researching.

Not everyone who excels in research also excels in teaching, but some do, and some are absolutely exceptional.

Professors will be intra-departmental, whether you are a student enrolled in an undergraduate or a postgraduate program. Your Professors will be extremely important throughout the fourth year of your undergraduate program at Heritage.

Make sure you get connected with someone who can assist you in completing your Projects. The Final Year Project will be one of the most crucial tasks for an MS or MBA after your undergraduate education, or for an off-campus job application. Choosing prudently and, most importantly, having a doctorate to assist you will go a long way.
