GITAM B.Sc Nursing FAQs
Ques. Is NEET mandatory for admission to B.Sc. Nursing at GITAM?
Ans. NEET is not mandatory for admission to B.Sc. Nursing at GITAM. Admission is primarily through the GITAM Admission Test (GAT). However, NEET rank is used as an alternative criterion for scholarship eligibility - candidates with NEET rank 1-1,00,000 are eligible for 100% scholarship on tuition fee. Candidates who have not appeared for NEET can still apply through GAT and avail scholarships based on their GAT score. The minimum eligibility is 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English with at least 45% aggregate marks. Note that the minimum marks requirement for B.Sc. Ques. What is the difference between B.Sc. Nursing and GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) programs?

GNM is a 3.5-year diploma program that provides basic nursing training. B.Sc. Nursing graduates are eligible for higher positions, better pay scales, and can pursue M.Sc. Nursing for specialization. B.Sc. Nursing is recognized by the Indian Nursing Council (INC) and is required for nursing faculty positions and administrative roles. GITAM offers B.Sc. Ques. What is the GAT exam pattern for B.Sc. Nursing admission at GITAM?
Ans. For UG Nursing, Paramedical, and Physiotherapy programs including B.Sc. Nursing, the GAT is a computer-based test covering Biology, Physics, and Chemistry topics from the 10+2 syllabus. The test is conducted in multiple phases throughout the year, allowing candidates to choose a convenient date. The GAT score is expressed as a percentage (0-100), with scholarships awarded based on the score band.
