HIMSR MD Pathology FAQs
Q1. Is there any management quota or direct admission available for MD Pathology at HIMSR?
Ans. No. HIMSR does not have any management quota, Delhi state quota, or direct/offline admission for MD/MS programmes. All 49 PG seats (including MD Pathology) are filled exclusively through MCC All India Quota (AIQ) NEET PG counselling via mcc.nic.in.
Q2. What is the total fee for MD Pathology at HIMSR, and how does it compare to clinical specialties?
Ans. The total fee for the 3-year MD programme in Pathology is Rs. 47,85,000 (tuition fee of Rs. 45,00,000 for 3 years plus one-time charges of Rs. 2,85,000). This is considerably lower than clinical specialties like MD Medicine or MD Surgery (Rs. 80,35,000) because Pathology is a para-clinical specialty with a lower tuition fee of Rs. 15,00,000 per annum. All admitted students also receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 80,000.

Ans. There are 3 seats for MD Pathology at HIMSR. Out of the total 49 MD/MS seats, 21 are for General/Open category, 21 are for Muslim Minority (by birth), and 7 are for NRI/NRI Sponsored/Foreign/PIO/OCI candidates.
Q4. What career options are available after MD Pathology from HIMSR?
Ans. MD Pathology graduates can pursue careers as consultant pathologists in hospitals, diagnostic labs, blood banks, and research institutions. They can also take up academic positions in medical colleges. The demand for qualified pathologists is consistently high in India, and graduates from recognized institutions like HIMSR (under Jamia Hamdard) are well-regarded in the field.
Q5. Is MD Pathology a good choice at HIMSR given the lower tuition fee compared to clinical specialties?
Ans. Yes, MD Pathology at HIMSR offers excellent value. The tuition fee is Rs. 15,00,000 per annum (vs Rs. 25,00,000-40,00,000 for clinical specialties), and all students receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 80,000. The department benefits from the facilities of HAH Centenary Hospital and Jamia Hamdard's research infrastructure, making it a strong choice for candidates interested in laboratory medicine and research.
Q6. What documents are required at the time of reporting to HIMSR after seat allotment?
Ans. Candidates must carry original documents including MBBS degree/provisional certificate, mark sheets of all MBBS professional exams, internship completion certificate, NEET PG admit card and scorecard, MCC allotment letter, category certificate (if applicable), minority affidavit (for Muslim Minority category), gap affidavit (if applicable), and a Demand Draft for the fee amount.
