What students say about University of Guelph
Likes
- The course curriculum is a bit dry; they try to enhance classes with labs, but sometimes they arent very helpful.
- They pay the minimum wage, but they are very convenient because you can take shifts between classes as well.
- The Robert Orr Lawson Scholarship is awarded to students with an outstanding research project and a maintained GPA of 9.0 in all semesters. The scholarship amount is $5000, and it is available at the University of Guelph.
- The campus is excellent, and extracurricular activities are happening, giving a good experience to bond with locals.
- I lived on campus during the first year to get to know more people and form study groups.
- For example, we have to pay a fee for the gym, but that doesnt give us even close to decent access to the gym, and the fee is mandatory.
- Because they were all experts, we got to learn from the best of the best.
- I received a scholarship worth 40,000 dollars and an opportunity to do a research project in special education.
Dislike
- If people wanted cheaper tuition by choosing not to support these clubs, I think the campus atmosphere would be a bit dry

- I was quite late at my application, which missed my chance to get into the university I preferred the most, but I accepted the offer from this university being a reputed one along with its location being in a area where I can found huge Indian community which helped me ease my journey. null
- No pressure to study, if you wish to attend the lecture you can or you can leave , you just need to focus on assignments or some in-class exams. So I liked this as studying should never be a compulsion. null

- The way of teaching through PPTs is what I dislike about my university or any other Canadian college or university as there should be some better approach. null
Canadian study experience is very different from one back in India. So I won't recommend my university much. Because students basically focus here to complete the masters and get a job to stay back here. If you actually want to study then I recommend getting into much more good university, and if your focus is also to stay here then you can get into this.
I’ve added SOP, LOR and CV for admission application with inclusion of all past educational achievements and recommendations from professors. The program that I chose, which is MDS, make it it possible for me to become a Data Scientist So far, I’m enjoying and learning with flow, which gives me the confidence to work in industrial fields
if you had to submit SoP, LoRs, CV - No never submitted one so I have no knowledge on such topic For the scholarship. Also they offered dual credentials such as a diploma and a degree I do very much enjoy the school and the profs for the most part. I never really found any of the courses that appealing to me but I obviously study it either way and get through it. The students are friendly but not very intelligent as I would have expected

- I choose this university because I saw the program was really good and it was in a peaceful and Canada's third most safest city Guelph. I personally like peaceful natural cities and guelph is one of them. Moreover this university has a huge diversity and i got opportunity to collaborate with a lot of different people belonging to different nationality apart from Indians. null
Awesome, apart from expensive course I think the course is very well designed program director and all are very supportive and instructors are well versed with awesome campus facilities. so I don't regret taking admission in this university.

- The campus is beautiful, large, the motto of university is to ‘improve life’, psychology program is great, and the rank is 482 (world rank). null
I have been doing great in every area- study, mental health, finances, etc. The library support and counselling support services are awesome at the University.

- My rational for choosing the program was the interesting breakdown of the program. The courses aligned with my interests in being a food industry professional. There were many relatives in Guelph and moving here would help me feel home away from home. null
- The amazing people and hostile environment about the University is great to talk about. You get to meet and connect with people from diverse backgrounds and work experiences. null
- This platform of knowledge transfer molded me to have better communication and improved social networking in my non-academic life. null
Dislikes:
- Honestly, there is nothing I like I dislike about the University. A drawback to my transition in the University of Guelph, would be the first snow that was inconvenient while transiting to classes. null
- The online classes during COVID period prevented much one on one meetings in person and communication was broken many times. null
I was able to be molded into a professional maturity with a sense of food safety leadership. The experience is life long lasting and can be applied to any food industry in the world.

- Location. Guelph is hub of Mechanical/ automotive industry , and it helped me After my graduation. Within a week I got my field job .
- Variety of courses, campus and material availability with good research facilities. There is no specific type that particular course is available for particular course only. We can choose any course we like it's irrelevant of any stream. null
Dislikes:
- Fees little bit high and they keep increasing it every year. Every semester has different fees, in my opinion it should be same for every sem. If you are doing MENG , it's not that worth compared to MASC. null
UOG is underrated University as it is located in Guelph which is isolated from GTA. My experience was incredible studying at University of Guelph.
I choose this university because I am familiar with it as I had completed my Diploma in Humber College that is opposite to the university building. So, I know the environment and pattern of the study. It is one of the best University in Canada that offers many opportunities for your career.
I applied to 4-5 universities based on the rankings. And I only got an offer letter from the University of Guelph hence I had no other options.
Because of the amount of liberty we have in choosing courses in our program. I can choose to take very diverse courses which may or may not contribute to my major or minor. Also in the engineering sciences, there is an emphasis on design which was really intriguing to me.
