Queen’s University Admissions FAQs
Ques. Can I get an admission in Queen's University in Canada with an overall 80% for a bachelor of commerce program?
Ans. Admission to the Bachelor of Commerce program at Queen’s University is competitive, and an overall 80% might be on the lower side for this program, as successful applicants typically have higher academic standing. However, other factors such as extracurriculars, essays, and references can play a role in the decision-making process, so it's still worth applying.
Ques. Can I get admission in Queen’s University without the IELTS?
Ans. Queen's University generally requires proof of English proficiency, such as the IELTS, unless you have completed your education in English in a recognized institution. If you meet specific criteria or have alternative qualifications, such as TOEFL or a degree from an English-speaking institution, you may be exempt from the IELTS requirement.
Ques. How did you get into Queen’s University Canada for undergrad?
Ans. To get into Queen’s University for undergraduate studies, I focused on maintaining a high GPA, preparing for standardized tests like the IELTS or TOEFL, and making sure my application highlighted my extracurricular activities and leadership experiences. Additionally, a well-crafted personal statement or essay that reflected my motivation and fit for the program played a significant role.
Ques. Which one is easier to get into, Queen’s University or Western University? I have a GPA of 86 out of 100.
Ans. Both Queen's University and Western University are highly regarded institutions, and with a GPA of 86 out of 100, you stand a good chance of being considered for admission at either university. However, Western University tends to have slightly higher acceptance rates for some programs, making it marginally easier to get in compared to Queen's, which is generally more competitive. Nonetheless, factors like your program choice, extracurriculars, and personal statement will heavily influence your application.

- Student Diversity, Supportive staff, Peer Support (academic & emotionally) Vibrant social life, nothing less than a dream living here, the University is directly located in front of the lake which looks amazing in summer.

Dislikes
- It is way too expensive, building social circle is bit of a hasle, the area does not have many Indian restaurants and it is sometimes very tough during winters to attend classes. Not many Indians live here

Scholarship
- Yeah, I got a scholarship for 10000 CAD; this was for 2 consecutive years
 - It was the International Student scholarship India (given to students with exceptional extracurriculars and strong academics).
 - Yeah, just 2 more friends of mine got it for 10000 CAD, distributed equally for 4 years.
 - I have no idea about the average scholarships each year but it is definitely less than 200 students every year. Please contact the department to know the exact amount.

- Fees were very low and the cost of living in Kingston is very affordable.
 - I understood the true value of Queen's after I graduated. Queen's has a fantastic alumni network that works towards helping their felow grads be successful.
 - In Canada, Queen's is perceived as a prestigious univsersity and it holds true in terms of job hunts. The engineering school is above average with good programs to choose from. My mechanical engineering program was flexible in terms of the courses I could choose. Queen's, located in Kingston has the perfect student-university vibe that I loved. It at the same time was just 2.5 hrs from both Toronto and Ottawa. The fees and cost of Living at Queen's was very low.

Dislikes
- I had a rough experience at queen's because I had to go through COVID while studying there. Neverthless, the online courses were just as good and impactful. Queen's and Kingston in general didn't have a vibrant Indian community that left me feeling a bit disenfranchised at times. The University also provides little to no help for placements and career opportunities.

Overview
The overall experience was bitter sweet, bitter because we had to go through Covid while at Queen's, sweet because of the opportunities that it opened up for me later.

- Location, reputation, people and culture. Got offered admission to Sauder at UBC and Schulich York, but still chose queens even though it’s lesser known in India. Queen’s commerce is a highly reputable program and tough to get into, not well known outside NA
 - Best university in canada in terms of employment and salaries (specifically smith school of business). It’s a semi-target school for investment banks in USA, more students than UofT go and do IB. Great people, party school, extremely nice location on the lake

Dislikes
- The commerce program is secluded and feels like a bubble, not a lot of international students. Far from Toronto, and no coop program, but still good relation with top firms in Canada. Not known outside canada

Overview
The people have been amazing and the culture is totally unique to what other universities have. You should message Queens commerce students on LinkedIn to learn more, everyone would be happy to talk. The lake adds to the experience.
Overview
there are many reasons for choosing this college. Firstly it was my locational preference because i don't have to struggle with the language thing. secondly it offers multi project and multi year course curriculum that sounds more fascinating for me.
Overview
The city of Kingston where the university is located is very beautiful. And I have talked to some people from that university and one of the major thing everyone mentioned was that the teachers are very passionate. And that is the one thing that matters to me the most about any institute.

Overview
I felt it was one of the best for the course I wanted to do and apart from that the city was closer to Toronto where most of the job opportunities are.
Scholarship
I received an International Student scholarship of $10,000 and it was only based on my class 12 results so there was no application for it.
Overview
They had an easy application process and are very well known for their amazing business school. They have high retention rates and high success of employment after graduating. They also offer a joint Bcom and JD program, few unis in the country do. I was too of my class, president of service clubs, and a public speaker. I did the IB program and they transferred my credits easily.
Scholarship
Yes, you fill out a general application for major Addison awards.
Overview
Its reputation and sense of community is something I was immediately attracted to. Also, Queen's prides itself on its traditions and heritage that are part of its history as an educational institution. Also, Queen's is a fair distance away from my hometown so it's not hard to get home if needed but also I'm far away at the same time.
Overview
The school spirit is excellent, I think it's unrivaled in Canada. The campus is beautiful, with scenic views and an awesome lake for events. Buildings and infrastructure are excellent as well. Finally, there is an excellent community feel.
Overview
Parents went there. Was originally in the con-Ed program, one of few in the province. It was far away from home while being less than a day?s travel. Cost of living was much lower than home, and it had a vibrant queer community.
