Should I go to Mcgill University (finance) or Concordia University (finance)??

Both McGill University and Concordia Universities are known for their top-notch finance programs. One of my friends shared his experience at his finance-related job. He told me that he was hired just because the other candidate was a graduate of JMSB. Concordia gives you more hands-on experience because even undergrad students manage multimillion-dollar portfolios, while McGill has more brand value. This may give you an edge in international prospects especially in the U.S. since most Americans don't really know too much about schools outside of their country. I know many companies in Montréal that specifically ask for JMSB and HEC students, but I have never heard much about McGill's finance program. So, from the limited information I have, lJMSB has a great co-op program and hands-on experience while McGill is typically more ideology and theory focused, based on its recognition. Ultimately, the decision of which school to attend will depend on your personal preferences and priorities. It’s crucial to go for the school that best aligns with your career goals and personal needs.

What I think about engineering at Concordia University

Likes

Nice institute with certified professors. A very solid engineering department. Location was a plus for me as well.
Infrastructure, curriculum, and most importantly the assignments. Homework handed out in all the courses is surely pretty solid for self learning. Co-op program is also well built where a lot of companies take part.

Dislikes

Career placements (non co-op): Very little help offered by university. Extended Credit program: 30 extra credits that all out of province students need which are all general course (pre college level or introductory level) which have no importance. Some teachers are also pretty bad.

Course Curriculum

Had 3 work terms because of my Co-op program. The core is relevant, but some courses are out of date. The curriculum is rather well built and rigorous. It has the same workload as A tier universities of US, but of course the educators are not all that good. Self learning is important. The AI specialization is basic but good for an introductory level.

I opted for Concordia University as my study destination since it is one of the most reputed universities, known for its quality academic programs. Browsing through the information brochure and the university's home page, I felt that the university with its rich blend of competent faculty, intense curriculum, and cherished history of success, will lead me to attain new heights in my career.
The university promotes experiential learning, personalized tuition and development, along with several student support services, all of which are designed to provide the confidence to stand out from the crowd and thrive in the chosen professional field.
The university has strong links with the private and public sectors, which would give an opportunity to learn from relevant visiting lecturers with leading careers in their subjects. I choose MEng. in Information Systems Security because it's emerging now and it's really a competitive course. It would contribute to achieve my desired goals.

Course Curriculum

Course curriculum is relevant but topics what are being taught could be updated. They could teach newer tools and techniques that are being used nowadays. Also, Concordia provide opportunity to enroll in Co-Op program. If you are selected for Co-Op, then you can apply for internships to get industrial experience while studying. And, if you want a research based program specifically, then you contact the program advisor to get enrollment in the same.

I chose Concordia University because of its good course, city and culture. Plus Quebec is a bit more affordable than any other provinces.

Concordia University: A 2-year Vacation

I chose Concordia because it is one of the best universities in Canada. Moreover, it is in the heart of Montreal downtown, which was a major reason why I chose Concordia. Also when compared to other alternatives, it is a bit cheaper as well.

Hi my ielts score is overall 6.5 (pen and paper based ) can i able to apply [M.Eng] (Information Systems Security) in concardia university ? Im having this doubt because many websites are showing diff ielts entry requirements for that course , can someone help me with it?

To apply for the M.Eng Information Systems Security program of Concordia University you must have taken IELTS Academic and have an overall score of 6.5 with no individual score less than 6.5.

To apply for the MBA program of Concordia Univesity, you must have an undergraduate degree in any discipline with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 out of 4.3 from a recognized college/university. You must also have a GMAT score of 580 and above plus a valid language proficiency test score in English or French. Along with these a minimum of two-years full-time work experience is required.

The duration required to complete the Master of Computer Science thesis-based program of Concordia University is two year. The university accepts applications for this program in the Fall, Winter and Summer intakes. While pursuing this program you can apply for a scholarship.
