What Students Say
Likes
- Nice institute with certified professors. A very solid engineering department. Location was a plus for me as well.
- Infrastructure, curriculum, and most importantly the assignments. Homework handed out in all the courses is surely pretty solid for self learning. Co-op program is also well built where a lot of companies take part.
Dislikes
- Career placements (non co-op): Very little help offered by university. Extended Credit program: 30 extra credits that all out of province students need which are all general course (pre college level or introductory level) which have no importance. Some teachers are also pretty bad.
I would describe my overall experience as satisfying. Its not the best university out there, but with the right amount of effort you can place yourself in the same pool like the graduates of major universities. Definitely one of the better universities in Canada.
Course Curriculum
Had 3 work terms because of my Co-op program. The core is relevant, but some courses are out of date. The curriculum is rather well built and rigorous. It has the same workload as A tier universities of US, but of course the educators are not all that good. Self learning is important. The AI specialization is basic but good for an introductory level.
Faculty
Some professors are great and some are just too bad. All of them are well qualified. AI and engineering professors are still better than the rest. Like Mirco, Hanna and some others.
Campus Life
Great, university has many clubs. From my experience you only get time to take part in them in first year or so.
Placement
Not sure. It would be quite varied. Google might provide more clarity. But since most of the placements are off campus, you have to set your own mark.
Accommodation
I live off campus. Various of options available in Montreal. I am renting my own unit instead of sharing, but most people would lease a room and share the accomodation because of cost effectiveness.
Exams
My scores: SAT Maths Level 2 800/800, SAT Physiscs: 800/800, IELTS 8.5 (R-9, L-9, W-7.5, S-8.5). CV: Academics, Volunteer Work, Co curricular record. SoP: Interests in the program you applied for. LORs: 2 LoRs from your teachers or peers.
Fees
Tuition Fee: Around 70k for 30 credits.
Scholarship
Yes, International Entrance Scholarship. This is merit based given to top candidates in the entrance pool. Will be continued if you perform well academically. Amount 5000 per year.
