- The faculty and courses are excellent and covers the whole area.
- Assignments are useful for the curriculum.
Dislikes
- The fees are too high and sometimes they randomly asks for prerequisite course which extends a term and fees as well.
Campus Life
- The campus is very happening and it has all the amenities including sports complex and football field, and it also has multiple libraries.
Accommodation
- 400-1000 CAD as per the lease and accommodation type.

- Supportive Faculty which help students unlock their full potential
Dislikes
- Housing Crisis - University has less space for accomodating students as part of its hostel culture.
- Harsh Weather - Since university is closed to Atlantic ocean and expect strong gusty winds , winter travel becomes difficult.
- Less Course and Staff - More Faculties and Course need to be added to diversify the area of interests for its students.
Campus Life
- Dalhousie University has 4 campuses namely Studley, Sexton, Truro and Carleton Campus.
- Dalhousie Student Union (DSU) played a pivotal role in helping students find part-time opportunities and other extracurricular activities in Dance, kayaking, Sailing, Fencing, and Football. Dal After Dark Events help in showcasing live music, food, and arts culture.
- Dal Tigers was the student sports body representing Dalhousie in various sports across the Atlantic and national sports.
Accommodation
- My search started with the university's WhatsApp group. After finding the group, we added our accommodation request. Luckily, we saw the Kijiji and Facebook marketplace postings on the group, to which we responded. Since alumni from the university were leaving the city, we found the perfect time to pitch in our request and paid all the rent to secure the spot. The lease was signed online, and we found the perfect house close to Dalhousie University.

- Good campus and services, Buss free, student discounts.
- Good education curriculum and good reputation
- Good place to live and roam around
Dislikes
- Less Job oppurtuntites in canada

- MACS coordinator is very rude to students
Campus Life
- Dalhousie has three campuses: two in Halifax and one in Truro.
- Campuses have a Library, Gym, Ice Hockey stadium, Football ground, Medical center, church, etc. Mine is Dalhousie University, Studley campus.
- There are many events held by the international centre at the university. I was also part of them as well as the international club.
Accommodation
- I used online platforms like LinkedIn, Glassdoor, and Indeed for the job opportunities here.
- I am facing challenges regarding the job because the job market is not good and its difficult to get opportunities and jobs here.
- Just apply, make connections, and do cold emailing; those are my suggestions to get a good job.
Likes
- A lot of courses were project based and not just theory based.
Dislikes
- College hostels are super costly, Halifax itself is costly
Campus Life
- DAL have 3 campuses in Halifax and 1 in Truro and I think 2 more outside halifax (https://www.dal.ca/about/campus-locations.html)
- Halifax Campus has Gym, swimming pool, multiple fields for different sports, basketball hall, etc.
- There multiple small - medium event always going on in DAL, including international events. Indian students celebrate all major Indian festivals.
Accommodation
- I found my in a whatsapp group, FB is also a gret place to loop for accomondations.
- My rent was 475CAD +Wifi, it included the utilities like water, electricity, laundry. Finding house was not easy took me a lot of searching, rents are really high end even if the house is in the worst condition.
- I will recommed to start finding a place to stay early. It was around 2.5 km away from the campus.

- I chose this university as I liked the course curriculum. It offered a number of career paths. Moreover, Dalhousie University is one of the well reputed universities in the country, which also makes a brand value on the CV while applying for jobs.
- The course fee is also lower as compared to similar courses in other universities which is another good reason to study at a great university in a budget.
- The course curriculum is diverse. There are ample of career paths one can pursue after this degree.
Dislikes
- The University is based out of Halifax, which is a small city. Most of the students have to look for jobs in other provinces and relocate after graduation. This can be tedious and also costly as one would have to pay for the basic setup in a different city.
Campus Life
The entire campus has high speed internet connectivity. There are 2-3 libraries which provide excellent selection of books to learn from. There is also a huge playground for football, 2-3 open tennis courts and their very own sports complex which consists of gym, badminton courts, basketball courts, rock climbing, squash courts, swimming pool, indoor running track and much more!
Accommodation
There are accommodations that one can find around the University. The University also provides an option to stay in their hostels. Since the rent in Halifax is cheaper than most of the major cities in Canada, I would recommend to find an accommodation off campus. It is easy to find a good accommodation within 4-5 km of the campus.

- Dalhousie is reputed institute of Canada. It provides updated knowledge within current industry. MACS program also has COOP term which a good start to career development.
- Streamlined curriculum, focused on trending stacks. They performed curriculum review every two years and updates the curriculum effectively. University campus is also so friendly you can have anytime conversation with professors. They always stays present.
Dislikes
- Some mandatory courses I think is not useful for all. Not all students will like to attend data management course for example. Apart from that I think course content is good and effective if one likes or have interest
Campus Life
I joined the university while pandemic period. So wasn’t able to explore campus life. But overall it is good, university is in halifax, very quite and nature friendly city.
Accommodation
I was living in sharing rental condo. Average monthly cost was 1500 CAD
Campus Life
It has so many facilities. We have so many clubs like dance club, ted talk club, and coding community. The gym is superb. The standard of equipment is very high. They maintain it so well. They hire around 1000 members to maintain the entire sports community. 1000 members are from Dalhousie university, students are the ones, who are doing part-time there to maintain the entire sports community.
Accommodation
Living expenditure was close to 40-45 lacs. But this is being covered by scholarship. tuition, academics, everything.
Accommodation
I applied to live on campus but was denied because they were full. So instead, I am renting a room in a house. It was difficult finding a place to live since it is 5 hours away from my hometown. However, living off campus is much cheaper than residence.
It is in a city that I have visited and wanted to live in and it is a very strong research school. I only applied to this school but I applied to several different programs within the school. I performed well academically in high school so I appreciate the challenge of some of the courses at this school.
Accommodation
Off-campus because of the budget that I can afford and the kind of food which I eat differs from the on-campus meal. Another reason is that I want to stay with my friends rather than alone in an unknown country which again is best to live off-campus as everyone will be comfortable and can easily afford it.
My academic score is good but the sole purpose I have chosen this college is one that I have friends and relatives living in Halifax, other reasons include the internship benefit of the course, short tenure, less academic stress, high chance to be part of Atlantic nominee program. One more thing is that Dalhousie is one of the top universities in Canada that I can afford. As I completed my Bachelor's in Computer Science, I am sure that I need to enhance my knowledge in the same field, so that?s the reason for my master's in computer science.
Picked this university because it was the most reputable in my area, I did not want to travel too far, and by going here I can live with my sister and watch my nephew grow up. The public transit option is a great way to get to and from school without having to waste more time and money looking for a parking spot every day.
