- The course curriculum is diverse. There are ample of career paths one can pursue after this degree.
Dislikes
- The University is based out of Halifax, which is a small city. Most of the students have to look for jobs in other provinces and relocate after graduation. This can be tedious and also costly as one would have to pay for the basic setup in a different city.
Required Exams for Admission
Overall, my experience has been great at Dalhousie University. The course curriculum they offered and the Professors putting in some efforts to really see their students excel is something very rare. The university also offers a good health infrastructure to its students when needed. I have learnt a lot from my experience and that is indicated on my profile as I have such clear understanding of the concepts which I can apply in my professional experience.
Course Curriculum
The course curriculum is well updated as per current standards. There are simulations, projects and so many other lab sessions which teach a new technology to the students.
Faculty
The faculty and staff and very accommodating. They are well reputed in their fields and have several years of experience researching in their fields. Dr. Pemberton Cyrus, Dr. Claver Diallo and Dr. Uday Venkatadri have been probably the best faculties one can learn from.
Campus Life
The entire campus has high speed internet connectivity. There are 2-3 libraries which provide excellent selection of books to learn from. There is also a huge playground for football, 2-3 open tennis courts and their very own sports complex which consists of gym, badminton courts, basketball courts, rock climbing, squash courts, swimming pool, indoor running track and much more!
Placement
All my acquaintances in the university got hired well within 3-4 months of their graduation. There are several companies which visit the university for placement opportunities such a Amazon, Irving, Deloitte, KPMG, etc.
Accommodation
There are accommodations that one can find around the University. The University also provides an option to stay in their hostels. Since the rent in Halifax is cheaper than most of the major cities in Canada, I would recommend to find an accommodation off campus. It is easy to find a good accommodation within 4-5 km of the campus.
Exams
I gave IELTS wherein I scored a decent 7.5. There are several other criteria on which the application is assessed including prior scores during past degrees and/or work experience. I submitted a CV, SOP and 2 LORs to strengthen my profile and increase my chances to get selected. Key points to mention in an SOP would be to mention in detail about your past work experiences, relevant projects and not to forget-something about your future endeavor after completing the degree.
Fees
