My academic score is good but the sole purpose I have chosen this college is one that I have friends and relatives living in Halifax, other reasons include the internship benefit of the course, short tenure, less academic stress, high chance to be part of Atlantic nominee program. One more thing is that Dalhousie is one of the top universities in Canada that I can afford. I did my own research. I got to know this is one of the colleges where I can apply from my range of marks. But this was the last in my last to go. I have applied to many universities like Waterloo, Alberta. According to my score, I was pretty confident that I would get into a better university for sure. Overall, my experience has been great at Dalhousie University. The course curriculum they offered and the Professors putting in some efforts to really see their students excel is something very rare. The university also offers a good health infrastructure to its students when needed. These are the universities I had applied for: > Western - Rejected (seats were filled) > Manitoba - The courses I applied was closed, they returned the application fee > Memorial University of Newfoundland - Accepted for Fall 2023 > Dalhousie University - Accepted for Jan 2023 > Lakehead - Rejected, I am not sure why I was rejected, maybe seats were filled as I applied very close to the application deadline, > McGill - Missed the deadline I selected Dal because its better than Memorial University; courses were better. The admissions process was mainly creating an application by filling out/submitting required forms, including references. After that, there was a 1-on-1 technical interview that was mainly focused around Java. They have an IELTS requirement of 6.5-7. Overall, the admissions process was pretty straight forward. I wanted to apply for Fall 2022 but missed the deadline and had to apply for Winter 2023. Overall, the admission process was around 1.5–2 months long. The process started with an initial application, followed by access to the admission portal within a week. After around 2-3 weeks, I got an invite to schedule an interview. I chose Canada because it is more affordable, and the fees are less compared to the USA. Immigration and PR opportunities in Canada are better than in the USA. Dalhousie has a good reputation and has a good world university ranking, i.e., under 500. I like the courses and programs offered; i.e., MACS is a good program to learn. Hard to find opportunities. Halifax as a city was really good. We can find Canadians here, like any other place in Canada. The tech market is not that good overall. It's hard to find full-time opportunities right now.
