Scholarship

  • Yes there are scholarships, But I haven’t received any so no information about that.
  • But yes there are scholarships both at University and Department level. One can find the relevant details either on the University website or one can check with their department secretary.
  • Scholarships are based on merits, research grants are also there run by multiple companies.

  • I found it through some classifieds ads on usedvictoria.com.
  • My monthly rent was 800 ( twin sharing for 1 bhk, total rent was 1600). Facilities included kitchen, laundry, internet etc.
  • No challenges but yes you have to give references of the people who know you out there.
  • Network with people, find on campus accommodations that are truly cheap.
  • Mine was 10 min for a bus ride and 5 min for a car drive.

Entrance scholarship - no additional application process (GPA-based - I had 91% high school GPA). One-time tuition credit of $3000 CAD (approximately 1 semester’s worth)

I already lived in Victoria, so it was an option that is close to home. I also received a GPA-based entrance scholarship of $3000, which motivated me to continue at UVic. I like the student engagement and different options for clubs/activities/events that are available, and the campus is quite lovely, especially in the sun. We are also very close to beaches and water, which is great. The psychology program is great and has lots of options such as co-op and honours to elevate your degree. Many of the profs that I’ve had are absolutely incredible. I definitely haven’t had the busy, extra-curricular-filled experience that some students may have, but I have benefited from the support and resources provided by Uvic numerous times. I have learned a lot and generally enjoyed my classes and experience so far.

Scholarship

Yes. Based on previous experience, research or publication, scholarships are automatically provided to applicants.

The overall experience has been amazing. As the class size is smaller, we were able to forge personal relationships with our faculty and others in the cohort. The class is more like a small family. I have been fortunate to have made great friends on the campus. I wish the placement and Career cells of the college were more active.

UVic is one of the most popular universities in Canada given it's great reputation and location. It's also one of the oldest universities in Canada. It offers three specializations under it's Bcom program i.e Service Management, entrepreneurship and International Management. Students can further advance into fields such as investment banking, human resources etc thus proving to be a very versatile program for students not sure what they wanna pick initially.

Close to home, friends and family and a great city and well respected school. Transferred to this school from another because it had a great reputation for teaching as well as community. Easy application process and average fees to apply. Went into this school after 1.5 years at a different university.

Scholarship

I have received an entrance scholarship from the school.

Uvic is my hometown university which I have always planned to attend as a result of cheaper expenses while living at home. I also applied at the University of Alberta but then decided to stay home to keep living costs lower. While applying to the two combined schools I spent $200 on application fees.

It had the program I wanted, affordable, and close to home. I felt that it was a decent size and that it would be a good university to have on my CV. I find the campus to be very beautiful as well as the people very easy to collaborate with!

I chose UVIC for its sociology program. I want to continue on to study healthcare management and I found this program to combine statistical and management based studies within its sociology degree.

I am from the Yukon and this school had a nice close location. The department also had a very good reputation. I also liked the course selection as compared to other universities that I was considering.

The location, being on the Vancouver Island. The population is relatively small. The food options, many options for vegans/vegetarians on campus. The program, one of the only colleges to offer a program similar to pre-med in Canada.
