Campus Life

  • The Kensington campus is really good, with well-built architecture, lively, and all the facilities are well provided. Almost every day, some event is happening on the campus that you can attend. You can check the event information on the UNSW website and Eventbrite.
  • There are a lot of libraries distributed across the campus and study rooms, along with meeting rooms and conference rooms, which you can book online for free.

Fees

  • Fees per unit are 1210 AUD, which increases with time (you can check it on the fees portal for UNSW as per the course). Every subject is a 6-credit subject, and you have to take a minimum of 18 credits per term as per your student visa conditions.
  • UNSW is a trimester system, and the fees depend on the credits selected. The biomedical engineering master's course (8621) is a 96-credit course, and the estimated fees as of 2025 are 121000 AUD

Overview

It was a fulfilling experience studying at UNSW and I would recommend this university to anyone looking to pursue further education. It is an experience that really makes you grow and provides a good exposure.

There is dedicated club to organize events, extracurricular activities. It is a strong student support system and they really brings the campus alive! Yes, there are sport facilities on campus, and libraries, study zones and of course WiFi.

Overview

This has been life changing and exciting. I became more independent, understood how to manage my time efficiently and how to strike a balance in life. I became more empathetic towards people, and got a new perspective by meeting new people.

UNSW has more than 300 clubs and the campus is pretty happening. You literally have events everybsecond day and you will definitely find something you like. We have ARC ( student body), which organizes so many trips, picnics, tours, free food, movie nights, sports, etc We have 2 libraries, one is Main library and the other is Law library. These libraries are nothing less than an engineering beauty and are the best in every sense be it study spaces, sleeping pods, printing services, computers, wifi, etc. UNSW is carbon neutral and meets all its energy demands via solar energy . Campus has 24x7 wifi with great speed. We have Roundhouse, where all the events happen and is the perfect place to chill and enjoy and meet new people.

Overview

I like the country and future prospects in my field of study. I am also a recipient of one of their most prestigious scholarships which played a key role in me selecting my university. I have always been interested in Computer Science and UNSW being the best in the country for STEM education, I chose it for my undergraduate degree.

Overview

I've applied for 3 other universities such as UTS, WSU, USYD alongside UNSW and I've accepted my offer at UNSW due to its environment and study culture. My experience at UNSW open day also played a major role as well. However, there are times when I wish I would be studying at another institute, the reason being is due to trimesters. There is too much workload in a short period that students have now.

Fees

I applied for HECS under Centrelink. Each term HECS pays off my semester fees which are generous as my family would not be able to pay my university fees right now. However, once I start working full time after I graduate. I will use all the money which I've made to pay off my university fees.

Overview

Prestige and ranking mainly, however, the student life was fantastic. Additionally, the university provided excellent support in my application and accommodation requests. I was also able to find a job relatively easily during university which contributed greatly to my employability upon graduation. Another of my friends also attended this university with great reviews.

Fees

I paid it all directly, there are scholarships however I did not apply for any. I am charged approximately $17k AUD a semester. My government does provide an interest-free loan however certain requirements need to be met and you have to prove you are actually succeeding in all your courses. The loan can then be referred to when you have gotten a job.

Overview

Only one of two reputable universities providing my degree and this one allows for better involvement in campus life (the other option was Sydney Conservatorium of Music and being on a separate campus and only having 750 students limits opportunities).

Fees

The fees are paid through HECS (the Australian government lends students money when provided with the relevant tax file number. Then, when the individual is earning in a high enough tax bracket, it is paid as taxes. The whole process is interest-free). An average term for BMus (performance) at UNSW costs around $2300, not including mandatory ensemble fees, textbooks and instruments/maintenance. $480 per trimester is subsidized for private tuition.

Overview

Location and the degree suited my needs and were a very flexible option for my abilities and goal for the future. I also really like the environment and the people at UNSW and the amount of social networking that occurs is amazing.

Fees

The fees are extreme please make university education a lot cheaper like how do you expect us to afford like 100 thousand dollars straight out of high school somehow I can't believe this.

Overview

The quality of education and the location. It is ranked amongst the top 50 universities for the medicine program. Sydney also offers an environment to learn and have fun at the same time. As an international student safety was also one of my priorities.

Fees

The fee structure varies between courses, your visa or residential status and scholarship availability, mine was very different due to the scholarship.
