FAQs

Ques. Can I get credit transfer/advanced standing if I have studied before?

Ans. Yes, WSU is quite flexible. Students with relevant previous study can get credit exemptions (up to 50–60% in some cases), which can reduce course duration and total fees. You need to submit detailed academic transcripts and a syllabus for assessment.

Ques. Is OSHC (Overseas Student Health Cover) mandatory? How much does it cost?

Ans. Yes, it is mandatory for the entire duration of your student visa. For Indian students, it usually costs AUD 450 – 550 per year (single coverage). You can buy it from Allianz, BUPA, or Medibank.

Ques. How easy is it to get a part-time job in Parramatta/Harris Park?

Ans. Quite easy, especially in retail, hospitality, delivery, and aged care. Harris Park has many Indian restaurants that prefer hiring Indian students. Average earnings: AUD 800 – 1,400 per month if you work 15–20 hours/week.

Ques. Does WSU help with job placement after graduation?

Ans. WSU has a Career Development team that offers resume help, interview preparation, and industry networking events. However, full-time job placement is not guaranteed. Most students find jobs through their own efforts, internships, and networking.

Ques. What is the Genuine Student (GS) requirement for WSU?

Ans. Students must clearly explain why they chose WSU, how the course fits their career goals, and their intention to return to India after studies (unless they get PR). A strong Statement of Purpose (SOP) and a genuine academic profile help in visa approval.

Overview

I chose this university because of various factors: - Offered the course I wanted to study - very high ranking - Excelled Reviews of Student Welfare - Exceptional Teaching My overall experience was amazing. The course, professors and the classes were exceptional. I did not get to experience University life because of Covid but other than that, the student welfare really stepped up during Covid to provide Financial Aid to all the students.

Overview

I have been in the university for a year, in this span of a year, university had a significant influence on me. New friend circle introduces new habits ( good ones though) and introduces you to different culture. It had been a fun experience so far, learning other cultures, learning the Aussie way of designing network (circuits) (their standards) .

A unique experience for an international student from a developing nation where you interact and engage with people from different cultures and nationalities to identify your own self.

Overview

This college provided an international perspective on the curriculum and offers the courses I am interested in. It also offers a lot of guidance and support for international students. Whilst it is still close to Sydney, parramatta offers a little more calm neighbourhood which makes it easier to focus on education.

Fees

Unfortunately, I did not have any scholarship available, so I paid everything with a student loan I got from the Dutch government. Based on the grades you get and the income of your parents there are however limited opportunities to receive a scholarship but they require a lot of effort and time investment for application.

Overview

I decided to attend this University because it was close to home. It has an excellent nursing program that will help to line me up for future jobs through placement. It is also one of the only Universities or Colleges that decided to accept me.

Fees

I had the option to defer my fees and put them on my student loan. However, I spent $200 on a first aid certificate, $60 for a police check, $150 for a nursing uniform, $100 for basic school supplies that they said we would require.

Overview

Western Sydney University is a very distinct name among other colleges and universities. The brand name is one of the major reasons I applied to this university amongst other factors. Also, a few references from my friend's.

Fees

$56200 for 2 years. The fees keep changing with the changes to the economy. It also depends on the amount of scholarship received by the student.

What qualifications must you have to get admission into social work at Western Sydney University? in the Master's programme? What is the standard SOP for applying here?

A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as social sciences, human services, psychology, or counselling, is typically required. However, you can explore the Western Sydney University courses to learn more about the curriculum, fees, and other details.
