COMEDK 2026 Quota Seats Explained: KKR, NRI, Management & Supernumerary Seats

The COMEDK 2026 seats are not completely filled on merit basis. The private colleges in Karnataka have separate sets of seats allotted for four different quotas.

The 4 different categories of seats apart from General Merit are KKR (Kalyan Karnataka Region) seats, Management Quota, NRI Quota and Supernumerary Quota seats.

You can choose which quota is applicable for you, considering the fee structure and then apply for colleges through either of these quotas.
Only General Merit (GM) and Kalyan Karnataka Region (KKR) seats are handled through the centralised COMEDK UGCET counselling process.

Ques. Is there any cast-based reservation (SC/ST/OCB) in COMEDK 2026 seat allotment?

Ans. No. COMEDK does not reserve seats for SC, ST, or OBC candidates. The only seat-level reservation through COMEDK counselling is for Kalyana Karnataka Region (KKR) candidates. SC/ST/OBC candidates from Karnataka do receive a marks relaxation in the minimum eligibility criterion (40% instead of 45% in PCM), but this does not translate into reserved seats in the counselling process.

How to Apply for Management Quota at COMEDK Colleges

Note: BITS (RVCE), BMS College, MSRIT, and other top colleges officially state they do not encourage or use agents for Management Quota admissions. Any agent claiming to "guarantee" a seat in exchange for cash is operating outside the official process. All fee payments must be made directly to the college trust or management via NEFT/RTGS or demand draft. Never pay cash to an intermediary.

Ques. Does a student need a COMEDK rank to apply for Management Quota at RVCE or MSRIT?

Ans. Not necessarily. At most top colleges, having a COMEDK, KCET, or JEE Main scorecard is preferred but a top rank is not required. The key criterion is that you should have appeared in at least one entrance exam and meet the minimum 45% in PCM in Class 12. NRI/ Supernumerary Quota in COMEDK 2026: Eligibility, Fees and Process

The NRI / Supernumerary quota is different from other seat quotas. For NRI/ Superumerary quota, seats are additionally added above the sanctioned intake of seats.

For example, if a college's CSE branch has 180 sanctioned seats, and NRI quota has 5% of seats, then 9 seats are additionally added to the sanctioned seats.
Hence, this quota does not reduce the number of seats available to COMEDK GM or KKR candidates.

Ques. Will getting an NRI quota seat at RVCE or MSRIT give the same degree as a COMEDK-rank student?

Ans. Yes, completely. All students receive the same VTU-recognised B.E. degree. The degree certificate does not mention the admission route or quota. Placements, academic curriculum, faculty, and campus facilities are also identical for all students regardless of how they were admitted.
