Stanford University placement data show that 90% of MBA job seekers in the Class of 2025 have an offer within three months of graduation. The Law School reports 177 of 190 graduates employed nine months after leaving. The published medians are USD 225,000 (INR 2.14 Crore) for JD law-firm jobs and USD 90,000 (INR 85.44 Lakhs) for education master's graduates.

  • MBA job seekers with offers within three months (Class of 2025): 90%
  • MBA graduates starting their own ventures (Class of 2025): 16%
  • Law School graduates employed nine months after graduation (JD Class of 2025): 177 of 190
  • Law-firm median salary (JD Class of 2025, 100 of 102 reporting): USD 225,000 (INR 2.14 Crore)
  • Education master's median salary, global (Class of 2025, 19 respondents): USD 90,000 (INR 85.44 Lakhs)

Stanford, in Stanford, California, reports graduate outcomes school by school, not placements, and publishes no university-wide employment rate or salary. Its Senior, Master's and PhD exit surveys are internal only. The figures below come from the Graduate School of Business, the Law School and the Graduate School of Education, and cover all graduates of those schools.

Currency Note: All INR figures used in the article use USD 1 = INR 94.93 as of 23 October 2026.

Stanford Placements and Employment Rate 2025

For the Class of 2025, the Graduate School of Business reported that 90% of MBA job seekers received a job offer and 81% accepted an offer within three months of graduation. The Law School reported that 177 of 190 JD graduates were employed nine months after graduation, including 166 in roles requiring bar passage.

School and cohort Outcome measure Result Window and coverage
Graduate School of Business, MBA Class of 2025 Job seekers with an offer 90% Three months after graduation
Graduate School of Business, MBA Class of 2025 Job seekers who accepted an offer 81% Three months after graduation
Graduate School of Business, MBA Class of 2025 Graduates pursuing their own ventures 16% Includes those searching for a company to acquire
Law School, JD Class of 2025 Graduates employed 177 of 190 Nine months after graduation, status known for 100% of the class
Graduate School of Education, Class of 2025 Graduates whose employment status is known 97% of 161 As of December 2025
  • The MBA figure counts job seekers only, and 16% of the class were founders rather than seekers, so the 90% is not a share of the whole class.
  • The Law School figure is a full-class count with no sampling, which makes it the most defensible number on this page.
  • No Stanford school publishes a figure for international graduates alone, so every rate here covers all graduates.

Note: Stanford does not publish an outcomes rate for its engineering, computer science or science master's degrees. The Management Science and Engineering department shares industry and role charts from a voluntary survey of 2022-23 to 2025-26 graduates, but publishes no employment percentage or salary.

Stanford Average Salary After Graduation 2025

The highest published Stanford median is USD 225,000 (INR 2.14 Crore) for JD graduates of the Class of 2025 who joined law firms. It rests on 100 of 102 such graduates reporting. Education master's graduates on the non-teaching track reported a global median of USD 90,000 (INR 85.44 Lakhs). Those working in the USA reported USD 92,500 (INR 87.81 Lakhs).

Programme (Class of 2025) Median salary (USD) Median salary (INR) Respondents
JD, law firm jobs USD 225,000 INR 2.14 Crore 100 of 102
Education master's, non-teaching track, USA only USD 92,500 INR 87.81 Lakhs 16
Education master's, non-teaching track, global USD 90,000 INR 85.44 Lakhs 19
Education PhD, USA only USD 89,000 INR 84.49 Lakhs 8
Education PhD, global USD 86,500 INR 82.11 Lakhs 10
Education master's, teacher education track, USA only USD 82,000 INR 77.84 Lakhs 24
JD, public interest jobs USD 60,000 INR 56.96 Lakhs 14 of 18
  • Every figure is a median of full-time workers who reported pay, so half earned more and half earned less.
  • The education medians rest on 8 to 24 respondents, so a single graduate can move them by several thousand dollars.
  • The law-firm median is the only Stanford salary with near-complete reporting.

Source: Stanford Law School, Graduate Employment Outcomes page, JD Class of 2025; Stanford Graduate School of Education, 2025 Career Outcomes, employment status as of December 2025.

Note: The Graduate School of Business says the Class of 2025 median base salary and bonus were in line with previous years. It gives no dollar figure on its web pages. Stanford publishes no salary for engineering, computer science or science graduates at any level.

Key Insight: The law-firm median of USD 225,000 (INR 2.14 Crore) is almost four times the public-interest median of USD 60,000 (INR 56.96 Lakhs). The school name sets the ceiling, not the floor, so judge any Stanford degree by the job type it leads to.

Stanford Placements by Course and Salary 2025

Stanford’s Class of 2025 outcomes show a 90% job-offer rate within three months for MBA graduates. Among JD graduates, 177 of 190 were employed, with a law-firm median salary of USD 225,000 (INR 2.14 Crore). Education master’s graduates reported a median salary of USD 90,000 (INR 85.44 Lakhs). Each programme uses a different survey period, so the figures are not directly comparable.

Programme (Class of 2025) Headline outcome Window Published median salary
JD, Law School 177 of 190 employed, 53.68% in law firms, 20% in judicial clerkships Nine months after graduation USD 225,000 (INR 2.14 Crore) for law-firm jobs
MBA, Graduate School of Business 90% of job seekers with offers, 81% accepted Three months after graduation Stated as in line with previous years, no figure
Master's, Graduate School of Education, non-teaching track Employment status known for 95% of 81 graduates As of December 2025 USD 90,000 (INR 85.44 Lakhs) global
Master's, Graduate School of Education, teacher education track Employment status known for 100% of 55 graduates As of December 2025 USD 82,000 (INR 77.84 Lakhs) USA only
PhD, Graduate School of Education Employment status known for 96% of 25 graduates As of December 2025 USD 86,500 (INR 82.11 Lakhs) global
  • The JD and MBA rows are the ones with a true employment measure; the education rows report coverage of the survey, not a job rate.
  • Clerkships at 20% of the law class are one-year judicial posts, which is why the law-firm salary applies to about half the class, not all of it.

Tip for Indian Students: For an MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Management Science and Engineering, ask the department for its latest exit survey figures before you accept. Stanford holds those numbers internally and does not post them.

Stanford MBA Placements and Salary 2025

Among Stanford MBA graduates seeking jobs in the Class of 2025, 90% received a job offer within three months of graduation, and 81% had accepted one. Another 16% pursued entrepreneurship, including graduates looking for companies to acquire, and 42% of these ventures were technology-related.

Measure (MBA Class of 2025) Published result
Job seekers with an offer within three months 90%
Job seekers who accepted an offer 81%
Class pursuing entrepreneurship 16%
Entrepreneurs in technology ventures 42%
Top sectors named by the school Technology, finance and consulting
Summer internship sectors, MBA Class of 2026 Finance first, technology second, healthcare third

The school names technology, finance and consulting as the top three full-time sectors but publishes no percentage split or industry medians on its web pages. The Class of 2026 interned mainly in finance, then technology, then healthcare, which is the order to expect for full-time offers a year later.

Source: Stanford Graduate School of Business, Employment Outcomes and Entrepreneurship pages, MBA Class of 2025 and summer MBA Class of 2026.

Key Insight: The gap between 90% with offers and 81% accepted means almost one in ten job seekers turned down a three-month offer. For an Indian applicant on a visa clock, accepting early matters more than it does for a domestic classmate.

Top Recruiters Hiring Stanford Graduates

Stanford’s Graduate School of Education lists Google, Amazon, Meta, Adobe, Morgan Stanley, Boston Consulting Group, Anthropic and Stripe among employers of its Class of 2025 graduates. These names come from the school’s graduate outcomes report; Stanford does not publish a single university-wide employer list.

Sector Employers named by Stanford (Class of 2025) Graduate group
Technology Google, Amazon, Meta, Adobe, Planet Labs, Stripe, Anthropic Education master's, PhD and undergraduate minor
Consulting and finance Boston Consulting Group, Arthur D. Little, Morgan Stanley, KPMG US, Alumni Ventures, GSV Ventures Education master's and undergraduate minor
Education technology and nonprofits code.org, Code for America, Khan-style tutoring start-ups such as Teachy and Journify Learning, Teach for America, Braven Education master's and undergraduate minor
Government and public bodies Ministry of Education Singapore, Public Policy Institute of California, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank Education master's and PhD
Universities Stanford University, University of Michigan, University of California San Francisco, Seton Hall University Education PhD
  • These names come from one school with 161 graduates, so they show reach into technology and consulting rather than hiring volume.
  • A named employer proves at least one hire in the Class of 2025, not an annual recruiting visit.
  • The Law School lists outcomes by sector rather than by firm, and the Business School names no employers on its web pages.

Stanford Placements by Sector and Job Role

Law firms took 53.68% of the JD Class of 2025 and judicial clerkships 20%, with public interest at 9.47% and government and business at 4.21% each. The Law School is the only Stanford school that publishes a full sector split.

Sector (JD Class of 2025, share of 190 graduates) Share Published median salary
Law firms 53.68% USD 225,000 (INR 2.14 Crore)
Judicial clerkships 20% Not published
Public interest 9.47% USD 60,000 (INR 56.96 Lakhs)
Government 4.21% Not published
Business 4.21% Not published

The Business School names technology, finance and consulting as its top sectors without percentages, and 42% of its Class of 2025 entrepreneurs built technology ventures. The Education school shows its industry mix only as charts, so no percentage can be quoted from it.

Source: Stanford Law School, Graduate Employment Outcomes page, JD Class of 2025; Stanford Graduate School of Business, Employment Outcomes and Entrepreneurship pages, MBA Class of 2025.

Tip for Indian Students: The USD 225,000 (INR 2.14 Crore) law-firm median applies to JD graduates, who sit the US bar. An Indian LLM graduate is a different population, and Stanford publishes no LLM outcomes, so do not borrow the JD figure for an LLM decision.

Where Stanford Graduates Work: USA and Abroad

Of the 177 employed JD graduates in the Class of 2025, 50 work in the San Francisco Bay Area and 38 in New York and the Northeast. Another 34 work in Washington DC and the Mid-Atlantic, and only 4 work abroad. The Law School is the one Stanford school that publishes work locations.

Region (JD Class of 2025, employed graduates) Graduates
San Francisco and other Bay Area 50
New York and other Northeast 38
Washington DC and other Mid-Atlantic 34
Los Angeles and other Southern California 20
Chicago and other Midwest 12
Southeast 12
Other West 7
International 4
  • Fewer than one in 40 employed law graduates left the USA, so the degree is used almost entirely in the US market.
  • The Education school separates US-only from global medians, and the US figures run USD 2,500 (INR 2.37 Lakhs) higher for master's graduates.
  • Staying in the USA beyond OPT depends on the H-1B lottery, which no Stanford school can influence.

Stanford Placement Trend by Year

The Stanford law-firm median rose from USD 215,000 (INR 2.04 Crore) for the JD Class of 2022 to USD 225,000 (INR 2.14 Crore) for 2023. It has held there through the Class of 2025. The Law School publishes the same measures for five consecutive classes, the only Stanford trend series that can be verified.

JD class Graduates Employed at nine months Law firm share Clerkship share Law-firm median (USD) Law-firm median (INR)
2025 190 177 53.68% 20% USD 225,000 INR 2.14 Crore
2024 199 191 54.27% 19.10% USD 225,000 INR 2.14 Crore
2023 183 178 53.01% 24.04% USD 225,000 INR 2.14 Crore
2022 189 183 47.55% 27.87% USD 215,000 INR 2.04 Crore
2021 184 178 52.40% 32.58% USD 215,000 INR 2.04 Crore
  • The law-firm median moved once in five years, by USD 10,000 (INR 9.49 Lakhs) between the 2022 and 2023 classes, and has been flat since.
  • Clerkship share fell from 32.58% to 20% across the five classes while the law-firm share rose, a shift the Law School reports but does not explain.
  • Employed counts stayed between 177 and 191 for classes of 183 to 199, so the nine-month outcome has been stable.

Source: Stanford Law School, Graduate Employment Outcomes page, JD Classes of 2021 to 2025, employment status collected nine months after graduation.

Key Insight: A flat USD 225,000 (INR 2.14 Crore) median for three straight classes is a market-wide associate scale, not a Stanford premium. The Stanford effect shows in the 177 of 190 employed and the 20% clerkship share, not in the pay figure.

Post-Study Work After Stanford for Indian Students

A Stanford graduate on an F-1 visa can use Optional Practical Training for a combined total of 12 months at each degree level. A STEM-designated degree adds a 24-month STEM OPT extension. The Bechtel International Center, Stanford's visa office, restates the federal rules. The STEM extension needs a job offer from an employer enrolled in E-Verify and a completed Form I-983 training plan.

  • USCIS accepts OPT applications up to 90 days before the proposed employment start date, so file in the final quarter of the degree.
  • Employers must report to the Bechtel International Center within five business days if a STEM OPT student leaves early.
  • Work beyond OPT needs an H-1B visa through the annual lottery, which no outcome figure on this page can predict.

Most Stanford engineering, science, and analytics master's degrees are STEM-designated, so the realistic US work window after a two-year MS is three years. Check the DHS STEM list for your programme's exact code before you enrol.

Stanford’s placement data is available for specific programmes: 90% of MBA job seekers received offers within three months, while the median law-firm salary remained USD 225,000 (INR 2.14 Crore) across three graduating classes. Stanford does not publish comparable employment or salary figures for its engineering and computer science degrees or a university-wide placement rate. Indian students considering a technical MS should ask the department for its graduate employment data, confirm the programme’s STEM designation and check eligibility for the up to 36-month OPT period.

The companies visiting the college depend on your program. Good mix of top and middle-level companies. I am not sure about the other details.

Stanford University School of Engineering had a very good ranking for engineering. Also, compared to other colleges, the admission process was very straightforward and hence easier to complete. My overall experience at Stanford University is best. I like the academics and facilities provided to the students and the International Student Department is very helpful and understanding.

I had a nondegree program so I don't really know about the placements but I have a dream of working with Sir KEVIN MITTNICK.

As we all know Stanford comes in the top 10 colleges for education. I took Stanford because they were offering the program in which I want to do my career. Also, the fact that it is one of the best universities in the world was a major yes.
