Seattle University offers 30+ scholarships, of which 18+ are accessible to Indian applicants. These awards range from partial merit waivers to near-full-tuition packages. Most institutional awards apply automatically at admission, so no separate scholarship form is required.

  • Standard UG tuition: USD 58,965 (INR 55.72 Lakhs) per year for the 2026-27 cycle.
  • With top merit waiver: USD 28,965 (INR 27.37 Lakhs) after a USD 30,000 Trustee Scholarship.
  • With merit plus external Fulbright combo: Near-zero tuition possible for eligible master’s applicants.

Currency Note: All INR conversions use the live rate of 1 USD = INR 94.5 as of September 2026. A "waiver" is a direct tuition reduction; a "stipend" is a monthly living allowance paid to the student.

India-Specific Scholarships at Seattle University

Seattle University does not run any single scholarship reserved exclusively for Indian nationals. Indian students access institutional funding through the general International Student Merit Awards. These mirror the freshmen merit tiers but reserve pools for international applicants.

Indian applicants get considered automatically for all four merit tiers when they submit the Common Application. No separate scholarship application is required. The award decision arrives with the admission letter, typically within 4 to 6 weeks of a complete file.

Reddit Insight: Indian applicants on r/IntltoUSA report that International Trustee awards typically go to profiles with 90%+ Grade 12 boards and 1400+ SAT if test-submitted, though Seattle University stays test-optional for 2027 admission.

Seattle University PhD Scholarships

Seattle University runs a small doctoral portfolio: EdD in Educational and Organizational Learning and Leadership, Doctor of Nursing Practice, Doctor of Educational Psychology, and JD. Funding is program-specific and combines tuition remission with paid research or teaching work.

Educational Leadership Doctoral ScholarshipPartial tuition plus USD 8,000 to 15,000 stipend (INR 7.56 to 14.17 Lakhs)EdD applicants with 5+ years of professional leadership experienceTentative January 15, 2027

Indian PhD applicants should contact their target program coordinator early in the cycle. Doctoral assistantships get allocated on a per-department basis and often go to the earliest complete applications, so a January submission gives a meaningful edge over a March one.

External Government Scholarships for Seattle University Indian Applicants

Indian students at Seattle University commonly stack institutional merit with external India-based awards. The five below cover the biggest funding sources for study in the United States.

ScholarshipAmountEligibilityDeadline
Fulbright-Nehru Master’s FellowshipFull tuition plus USD 1,800 monthly stipend plus airfareIndian citizens, 3+ years of work experience, master’s applicants in select fieldsTentative May 15, 2027
Inlaks Shivdasani ScholarshipUp to USD 100,000 (INR 94.5 Lakhs) totalIndian citizens under 30, top academic and professional profileTentative April 6, 2027
JN Tata Endowment Loan ScholarshipINR 1 Lakh to INR 10 Lakhs loan scholarshipIndian citizens, any discipline, admission letter requiredTentative March 24, 2027
KC Mahindra ScholarshipINR 8.5 Lakhs interest-free loan plus INR 2 Lakhs grantIndian graduates pursuing postgraduate study abroadTentative March 31, 2027
Aga Khan Foundation Scholarship50% grant plus 50% loan of assessed needIndian citizens with demonstrated financial needTentative March 31, 2027

Fulbright-Nehru is the most valuable single external award for master’s applicants, but it restricts institutional choice through USIEF placement rules. Inlaks pairs well with a Trustee Scholarship: a Trustee cut of USD 30,000 plus Inlaks cover pushes total funding above USD 100,000 across two years. Common documents required for these external Indian scholarships include:

  • Admission letter: Confirmed offer from Seattle University for the target intake.
  • Academic transcripts: Grade 10, Grade 12, and bachelor’s degree marksheets (attested).
  • Statement of purpose: Detailing career goals and how the US degree supports them.
  • Two academic recommendations: From professors or professional supervisors.

Check the F-1 visa requirements once your funding is confirmed, because visa officers verify financial capacity down to the last dollar.

Seattle University Scholarships: Frequently Asked Questions

Ques. What is the maximum scholarship funding stack an Indian student can build at Seattle University?

Ans. An Indian UG applicant can stack the International Trustee Scholarship of USD 28,000 with a Global Reach Grant of USD 10,000, plus an external Inlaks Shivdasani award. That combined package covers USD 38,000 of institutional funding annually, before external funds arrive. A top profile can push effective annual cost below USD 15,000 (INR 14.17 Lakhs). Master’s applicants can pair Albers merit with Fulbright-Nehru for near-full tuition cover across two years.

Ques. When should Indian applicants apply to secure a Seattle University merit scholarship?

Ans. Submit the Common Application before February 1, 2027 for Fall 2027 UG priority scholarship review. All institutional merit is automatic, but scholarship award levels favor early-complete files. Decisions arrive within 4 to 6 weeks of a complete application. External scholarships like JN Tata close by late March, so plan the sequence backward from those deadlines.

Ques. Does Seattle University require a separate scholarship application form?

Ans. No separate form is needed for the six-tier UG merit awards or the International Merit tiers. Admissions Office reviewers assign the scholarship level from your academic profile at the time of admission decision. Only need-based aid and named endowed awards require additional paperwork after enrollment. Graduate scholarships may require a program-level essay or interview at the department’s discretion.

Ques. What GPA equivalent do Indian applicants need for the Seattle University Trustee Scholarship?

Ans. Applicants typically need a 3.85 or higher unweighted GPA equivalent, which maps to 90% or higher in CBSE or ISC Grade 12. Test scores stay optional for 2027 admission. A strong extracurricular record plus Advanced Placement or IB coursework further supports Trustee-level consideration. The Bellarmine tier at USD 25,000 usually covers profiles between 3.7 and 3.85 GPA equivalent.

Ques. Will a Seattle University scholarship cover the cost of living in Seattle?

Ans. The USD 30,000 Trustee Scholarship offsets more than half of the USD 58,965 annual tuition but does not cover Seattle housing. On-campus room and board runs USD 15,000 to 17,000 (INR 14.17 to 16.06 Lakhs) per year. Off-campus rent in Capitol Hill or First Hill sits at USD 1,400 to 2,000 (INR 1.32 to 1.89 Lakhs) monthly for a shared unit. Plan for an additional USD 22,000 in living expenses on top of any scholarship award.

Ques. How competitive is the Seattle University Public Interest Law Scholarship for Indian JD applicants?

Ans. Very competitive. The full-tuition award goes to fewer than 10 incoming JD students each year and requires a documented public interest track record. Indian applicants should apply by December 1, 2026 for Fall 2027 entry. A strong personal statement showing pro bono or NGO work is the key differentiator, alongside an LSAT score of 158 or higher.

  • I got a 4800 USD of scholarship for 1st year only.
  • my batchmate receive scholarship some sport scholarship and he got up to 50% scholarship because he played swimming at national level.
  • I thing around 70% of the students receive the basic 5000USD of scholarship each year

  • To find out about accommodations. You can anytime contact your seniors. They are the best source of getting. More info about the nearby steak places or the locations you can stay at. Also, you can visit many of the sites nearby. You can go to the Google Maps. Check for the flights nearby.
  • They have their own website. You can visit them and schedule and watch your meeting anytime. You just can submit your I 20 passport and the Visa details. They can provide a leisure that collectsion. Students from Telegram and WhatsApp channels which are. I've been made.
  • I have chosen off-campus accommodation. The monthly rent for my accommodation IS17TO1800 $1800 per month and we are 3 of them. So we have $600 per month. Of rent and the challenges we encounter during accommodation.
  • You need to get your initial stuff in the 1st month. So try to adjust in the 1st month and going ahead. Once you start earning from your part-time you can take 11 thing. I'm thinking going ahead and my accommodation is like one. Mile or 1 to 2 km. From the college

Scholarship

  • There are scholarships for the course. Usually people get a pretty standard scholarship
  • Personal Scholarship: I received a 20% scholarship based on my experience and certificates in sports. The scholarship I received covered 20% of my tuition fees.
  • Batchmates' Scholarships: Approximately 70% of the students I know from India have received scholarships.
  • One of my batchmates received a 50% scholarship due to his participation in football.

  • I choose off-campus accommodation because university accommodation is quite expensive as compared to living outside the campus. I am paying rent, utilities, and groceries all in total for about 800 USD monthly. Where on campus living costs you around 1300 USD per month just for the living and food is also separate. These on-campus options are also limited and bount you to live there for at least 6 months.
  • Currently, I live in a 1-bed apartment with 2 other people, which helps me to cut down on rent.
  • And my apartment is just 10 minutes away from the campus so I don't have to travel a lot.
