Our batch was pretty unlucky because the job market has been pretty bad but on average, at least 60% of the cohort have found jobs after graduating. The numbers are available on the official website for each cohort since the program started.
Typical job roles range from Product Management to Software Engineering. The program prepares you for almost all job roles in tech depending on your preferences and elective selection. Typical Salary range should be anywhere from 100K to 180K dollars annually.

Accommodation is pretty easy to find if you find people from your cohort; there are small apartment buildings, or if you want to opt for cheaper accommodation, you can rent houses and share among your roommates. Houses are typically owned by older people living in the neighborhood, so that is a cheaper and safer alternative. Whatsapp Groups/ Facebook groups are the best alternatives to find roommates and then online websites for finding rental houses.

Not a very suitable fit for Product Management.
Tuition fees are quite high for the value provided.

Placement

Median salary is high primarily because of the skillset one develops while being a part of CMU. The alumni network is definitely strong, however average support provided by the career services for placements.

I primarily chose this college for its brand value and the successful placements of alumni. However, the program was more focused on data and software development rather than product management, which was a drawback.

I liked faculties and their way of teaching
Infrastructure of the campus is great and mind blowing
University provides great exposure and help in all round development

Fees of the university is very expensive

Placements and Scope of employment after finishing the degree are very nice. Employers include Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Uber, Netflix, Apple, Meta, Goldman Sachs and so on. The average and median packages are more than 140k and 120k respectively. Tips to find a job are to Update your LinkedIn profile with proper skills and experience, do projects, internships and learn to make professional resumes and lastly keep networking with the professionals. Famous alumni include Ted Danson, Vinod Khosla and many others.

Average Package: USD 130,000 per annum

The admission process included marks of GRE and IELTS i.e I got 323 marks in GRE and 8 bands in IELTS. Other things included were Academics of bachelor, SOP, LOR of faculties and other financial documents. I prepared for exams from online platform i.e. GregMat and didn't go for any consultancy for admission.

My time at Carnegie Mellon University

The world-class environment and the ample amount of opportunities were my major factors to choose CMU, followed by the profiles of the professors and the talk with the current cohort.
The holistic take on grooming the students, providing a realistic view and making them job market ready are some points I like about the university. The career development centre is a little helpful but the research is completely a responsibility of the student.

Dislikes

As an international student you might end feeling lonely at some states, however one needs to trust the process. I personally prefer keeping away from departmental politics. Initially, it did distract me however, it's important to bear in mind that it's a common occurrence and you shouldn't take it personally.

Placement

There is no campus placement which is something Indian students are usually exposed to. The student is solely responsible for research on the current market and the Career Development Centre is there for guidance only. The professors usually help with some of their connections to get them to know about how to apply and where they could find specific opportunities. The Tech department had some companies come in for conducting interviews which is something I cannot provide a detailed information about.

I had a great experience at Carnegie Mellon University. It was a fun, engaging, and fruitful time. The environment at the university was pretty warm with some chills of winter in Pittsburgh. Learning about different cultures and meeting new people was cherry on top.

CMU is the number 1 college in systems and security courses that I wanted to do.
The rigorousness of CMU is what really makes it valuable. I have worked for 2.5 years before coming here and a semester of work here is worth more learning than my entire career. That being said, it is very hectic and can be very hard for a lot of students.

Dislikes

The bonding between students across departments can be improved. Intra department is good but inter department can be made better. There are events that happen every now and then that try to make this happen however it can be hard for everyone to sync up since every department has a very different course set for its students that leads to wildly different schedules for students.

Placement

Almost all students are placed. Median salary would be about $140,000. People generally do not have trouble finding jobs and alumni are quite helpful. CMU brand name is also very helpful in getting jobs at places such as apple. Our stats are entirely public and can be viewed on the department website.

The overall experience here has been very amazing for me. I have engaged in a lot of activities and strived to be better all the time. This is very valuable to me and I hope it is the same for anyone else who joins as well.

The reputation of Carnegie Mellon University within CS and Analytics is top notch, and the program course really aligned with what I was looking for.

Placement

Post study placements reports are really good for the college (Tepper School of Business). I don’t have the employment report of the last batch as of now.

My overall experience has been good so far. Faculty is great, career coaches are really helpful. Our program director is a great man. The only thing that I find difficult is that the program length is only 9 months which makes the program pretty intense.

Placement

There is a CPDC which is for all university students. They are pretty active. We schedule an appointment with them, we get our resume checked and everything. They have got a good depth of experience as well in HR and universities. We don?t really have placements in the US. Companies do come on campus but, that is like an info session. There is not a complete planned placement procedure like back in India. Companies like Google, Uber, Facebook, Amazon, etc. have recruited from CMU

The university arranges the accommodation for international students. But, we need to apply early to get a good accommodation. Searching for a home here is very difficult.
