The University of California Los Angeles admissions committee declares a decision for the freshmen undergraduate applicants by late March. Decisions for transfer applicants are released by late April. The decisions are made on a thorough review of the applications and hence, are rarely reversed. Students can request for review of the applications or send additional information through the admission office. Once the decision is released, the university releases a Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) form, where students can mention their intent to study in the university.

University of California Los Angeles Admissions: Selection Criteria

UCLA acceptance rate is only 8.7% as per Fall 2023 undergraduate admissions. This makes it one of the highly competitive universities in USA to get into. Every year, more than 145,000 applications are received for University of California Los Angeles admissions and very few of them are admitted.

As a part of selection criteria, the university not only looks for candidates with good academic background but also those who could demonstrate highly intellectual ability, leadership skills, tenacity and initiative. Though GPA and curriculum plays an important role during the selection criteria, the university considers various other factors during the evaluation process. Such factors are listed below:

  • Applicant's achievements and records including grades
  • Applicant's personal qualities such as leadership ability, motivation, creativity, intellectual curiosity, maturity, etc.
  • Candidate has the ability to contribute to the campus society
  • Other achievements if any
  • Non-academic and academic achievement
  • Hardships and challenges faced by applicants.

An applicant receives the UCLA acknowledgment letter within 72 hours of completion of the application process. Once the admission letter is sent, students are required to complete the further steps as asked in the admission package and make arrangements for travel to study in the USA. The university recommends that international students should submit the certified copies rather than original transcripts as they cannot be returned. However, at the time of enrollment, original documents with the sign and seal of the registrar must be submitted to confirm the admission.

Overview

UCLA is the number 1 public university in the United States. It has a beautiful campus with an extremely diverse faculty and student body. The university's location in California is a great bonus for students like me hoping to start a career in tech due to its proximity to the Bay Area and Silicon Valley. The university has a vast, well-connected alumni network and provides tremendous opportunities to learn and grow via clubs, events, and career growth opportunities. The campus community is also as incredibly warm and welcoming as the weather in Los Angeles. I could not recommend UCLA highly enough.

Scholarship

No, I have not received any scholarship.

Overview

I got to know about this college because I live in the same state, and it's very well known to everyone. the admission process wasn't too difficult because I just had to fill out the UC applications and include my grades, extracurriculars, and supporting essays. the application fee was $80 for this particular campus, and I applied to 6 colleges including this one. I chose to go here because I love the environment, location, and overall happiness of the campus as well as its good reputation. my academic background was good because I was in the top 10% of my graduating class, graduated with highest honors, and had extracurriculars and volunteer experience.

Overview

One of the worlds best universities. Great location with ethnicity not being the overriding factor in all things Bruin. School and classroom size manageable and equipped. Beautiful architecture and grounds are very conducive to the learning process.

Scholarship

I qualified for an academic scholarship, but in a true egalitarian move, I demurred due to an extremely lucrative part-time job.
